@Kirk I totally agree. As loyal to Nintendo since the 90s, I deserve the right to laugh at their VC policy. Years ago we had free Ocarina of Time with GCN Wind Waker, NES games inside Animal Crossing... I'm still sure they are not releasing N64 and NGC games because, according to the actual price policy, they should ask € 15 and € 20 or even more and they just don't have the guts to do that.

Finally, this is what I was looking for!
Now I have a reason to spend € 5 because I want more of the same: I can play it on my GBA via Yoshi's Island (free extra), on my 3ds via VC Yoshi's Island (free extra in an Ambassador game), on my WiiU via SM3DW (free extra) and I'm sure there are other options I'm missing...
There are many good indie games out there for € 2. Wake up, Ninty!

And I'm sure you Americans loved the VC "weekly promotions" about Zelda, Mega Man and other series... Europe? Nothing.

Nintendo has a hard time. I'd prefer they spend their time and money in something useful. This is supposed to be promotional material, and if you promote yourself in this way...

I loved the original Yoshi's Island (played it on GBA) but I really didn't like the DS one: I just felt the controls were wrong. Anyone else?

PS3 better than Wii U: this is what happen when an old console get new games and a new console get old games. Damn'...

This will sound off-topic, but I think it isn't:
Last night I reinstalled Fallout 3 on my old 360 because I was missing such a good game. I installed it on a flash usb, having the dlc on the hard disk, looking for some better performance as seen with GTA 5. Result: halved loading times and the disc is not spinning at all! A 6 years old game on a 8 years old console. What about the Wii U? Do we have the option to do that? No. Someone than says "buy the digital version", forgetting that the Nintendo online service sucks and constantly punish customers with limitations of any kind. Can such a big company be so stupid? In addition to Fallout 3 I'm playing a wonderful game, Mario 3D world, while waiting for another wonderful game, DKC tropical freeze. But I just feel this is not enough to save Nintendo.

When Thomas says that the Wii "created its own trends of third-party support", does he mean showelware? If it wasn't for those cheap, ugly, useless games that you were able to find in a bin for $ 10, the Wii would have been another Gamecube. 50% of Wii owners didn't know anything of videogames except a certain "Mario", ignoring all the other gems. No surprise they don't want to spend money for an upgraded version of their old console...

I won't complain about the fact that there's no Rune Factory 4 in Eu because now I can get F1 Race Stars: Powered Down Edition!!! Wow!!!

Some of the minigames in Nintendoland should work great on tablets.
Parents would be happy to buy their kids "a cheap Nintendo game", while kids, after playing those ones, would ask a "real Nintendo game" available only on 3ds and Wii U... Or maybe not...

You can call it a "flash sale", but it was clearly a mistake. Nintendo should simply sell first party games at budget price one year after their release. Here in Europe we can hardly find one of those "nintendo select" 1st party games for less than $ 30 and they are at least 5 years old...

@micronean You're right, but don't forget that an old boxed game can still worth money, and can also warm your heart with nostalgia! A "futuristic" digital download has no future!

You're right. Damned region lock! Even importing the retail version of Atlus games from America would be cheaper than downloading their games from the european Eshop...

@fchinaski Etrian Odissey IV and Bravely Default can't be considered "niche" games.
Being Italian, I'd love to buy the american version of SMTIV, released months ago in a collector edition that's cheaper that any pal version, not localized and without any extra from Atlus, that maybe one day I'll be able to buy...

I hope it's something involving streetpass, now that it's finally working... It would be great to fight with Miis!

2 minutes!!! if I consider my sister (she has 2 kids, one 3ds and a wii) as the typical "casual Nintendo customer", I know she'll never watch a commercial on the internet which is so long, and tv adv never last more than 30 seconds. It seems Nintendo did this just for our pleasure...
