Re: EA: Being Voted The Worst Company In America Was "A Wake Up Call"

ajcismo

EA does not care about Nintendo or its supporters. Personally, I believe this to be fallout from the years of Big N being not-so-nice to EA and several other publishers. However, Disney does care about Nintendo and its supporters and since it has a stake in EA now, I can see a sudden change in philosophy towards Ninty happening. I still think EA as its known now, won't be within the next 2 years after Disney buys them outright.

@MadAussieBloke
I dig your style dude. Couldn't agree more.

Wii U will have yet one more holiday season to do something. We still have Zelda, SSB, and (hopefully) X in 2014. And you can't tell me there isn't a Metroid game in the works. The problem is nobody is paying attention because Iwata was too cheep to spend some coin on MAKING everyone pay attention. Kinda like what MS/Sony are doing right now with their commercial saturation. Iwata will be looking for a job before the Wii U dies as he should be.

Re: Satoru Iwata Emphasizes "An Opportunity" for the Wii U This Holiday Season

@Senario
I'm sorry, but you're not getting my point. Advertising is advertising. Its not that it was football, or Once Upon a Time or some show about vampires... ALL of those things had MS/Sony commercials and two of those are TV shows designed for women ages 15-40. You mean to tell me that all 3 brands only want to target one specific core audience and Nintendo gamers don't watch football? Zero advertising at no audience means you will not sell anything. Opportunity lost by Nintendo.

Re: Satoru Iwata Emphasizes "An Opportunity" for the Wii U This Holiday Season

Opportunity... you know what I saw on TV while watching (American) football all day this past Sunday? PS4, Xbox and CoD commercials. I didn't see a single Wii U spot. How about TV watching with the wife when she's watching her shows on Monday and Tuesday night? Its also different programming than sports, aka different market... Hint: More PS4 and Xbox commercials. Two companies are taking advantage of opportunity. One doesn't seem to be. Mr.Iwata needs to go.

Re: Iwata Braves Press Conference to Explain Nintendo's Earnings

ajcismo

I think its time for Mr. Iwata to step down. The ball-dropping on all things Wii U is just mind boggling. From marketing, to consumer demands like unified account systems, to software droughts and 3rd parties jumping ship far too early, to what should be a spectacular use of the VC that just isn't, to something as simple as the name of the console itself... there needs to be a fresh approach. Someone to create energy and maybe give their products and image a new perspective.
Have you seen the headlines on the news sites talking up MS and Sony? Little to no mention of Big N, and if there is, its how they are failing. How can any CEO of a company who was THE major game in town for 25 years let this happen?
Do the honorable thing and step aside, Mr. Iwata.

Re: Nintendo Financial Reports Bring Minor Profit, 3DS Success and More Wii U Struggles

ajcismo

Its time for Mr.Iwata to give up the reigns and step aside. Nintendo needs new blood at the helm. Granted, these numbers are of no surprise, but there are still plenty of things that are constantly an issue and not being addressed:

  • The VC. This should be a major selling point. The nearly 30 year back catalog should be exploited and marketed towards an older nostalgic gaming crowd. Not to mention all the other systems on the Wii VC and the ones that the U should be using as well. (Dreamcast, GCN, etc) This is a major problem that we keep getting a tinkle of crappy NES titles from 1985. Booo Mr.Iwata, boooooo.
  • Lack of a unified account system. Again, this is a no brainer.
  • Marketing, or should I say "what marketing?"
  • Repair the relationships with the major 3rd parties ie: EA and Activision. As much as it pains me to say this, the Wii U needs CoD and Madden and FIFA, full versions and tech support. I doubt we'll see much effort from either of these companies until Mr.Iwata is no longer in charge.
This is just my opinion, and I'm a fanboy who loves his Wii U (and 3DS). But I've been around long enough to know that sometimes change is needed and necessary. Mr. Iwata, should graciously step aside before he is told by his shareholders to go.

Re: Soapbox: The Wii U Virtual Console Needs to Freshen Up

ajcismo

All I know is Ninty has the greatest back catalog of games from literally a dozen systems they own the rights to. The technology is there, the vast goldmine of games is waiting to be tapped and exploited, what the f is Nintendo waiting for? I imagine the Wii U would be taken more seriously and sell more units if it were marketed as a console that had the ability to play most of Nintendo's games from the beginning NES on through the 'Cube. Iwata is dropping the ball on this and is one of the reasons its time for him to go.

Re: David Jaffe Is A Massive Fan Of Nintendo, But Thinks The Company Should Sell Out To Disney

ajcismo

I keep promising myself I'd stop commenting on articles like these... but I can't help myself lol.
I think he's right about new blood. I fear Mr.Iwata's time at the helm is nearing its end and we'll have a major change at the top by the time the Wii U's 2nd anniversary rolls around next Nov. Lets face it, change is coming and it might not be a bad thing.
However, there is no way in the bluest of blue Hells that Nintendo would ever sell out to an American company. Its a veiled attempt at saying American devs want Ninty to be like everyone else to make their jobs easier. Disney already has a stake in EA, and I believe will be buying them outright after dismal Xbone sales throughout most of 2014 get both companies nervous.

Re: Review: GOLF (Wii U eShop)

How about some Lee Trevino's Fighting Golf?
The original NES Golf is sucky, I'm surprised it scored a 4.... or would it be FORE?
sorry, couldn't resist.

Re: Eiji Aonuma Explains Why He Thinks Fans Came To Love Wind Waker's "Toon Link"

ajcismo

It was long ago, but I remember surprise and disappointment on seeing the original GC footage... Toon Link? Looks like a crappy kids cartoon! Then I bought a used GC and rented WW from a local video store just because I felt I owed it to myself to stop complaining and actually try the game. Returned the game the next day and promptly bought myself a new copy hours later. It is now my favorite Zelda and gets a play-thru on an annual basis (along with OoT).

Re: Nintendo Download: 17th October (Europe)

ajcismo

Ahh yes, the Nintendo tradition of following up a major release with a steaming pile of cow poop on the eShop a few days later. Urban Champion makes me laugh. Its like they've got 1 guy coding VC games and he went on vacation back in June... and hasn't returned.

Re: Microsoft Wants You To Know That Its Surface Tablet Can Play SNES Games

ajcismo

Yeah, its illegal copyright infringement and probably something the IT guys doing the video didn't even realize. Pretty sure both companies sets of lawyers know each other quite well and this gets resolved with a phone call.
On a lighter note, MS should've shown off the emulation skills of their tablet by playing something by RARE on an N64 emulator. Now THAT would've been maddening.

Re: EA Executive: Shigeru Miyamoto is 'Falling Down on the Job'

ajcismo

There's a basic rule of business ethics that states that a person should never speak ill of A) customers and B) competitors (and really, C) the dead, since that wasn't exactly a classy way to bring up Mr.Jobs). Nothing good ever comes of it and EA seems to be piling up the Karma points.

Re: Howard Lincoln: Nintendo Has "No Plans" to Sell Stake in Mariners MLB Team

ajcismo

Funny I'm getting sports news on a gaming site before my usual stop by ESPN... but this story will get buried on most major sports sites anyways, so thank you for bringing this to light.
Most foreign readers won't care about news like this, but its important to us MLB fans that Nintendo stay as owners of the Seattle franchise. I'm a huge baseball fan, and this is great news for the people in the northwest US. It means stability and consistency for the franchise and Nintendo in Seattle.

Re: Poll: Would You Buy Grand Theft Auto V On Wii U?

ajcismo

I'm focused on playing Zelda in the near future. But I'd consider buying GTAV, probably via eShop, if it were made available and had all the bells and whistles of the PS/360 versions. Knocking a few bucks off wouldn't hurt either.
