@Kirbyo I wasn't even talking about the patent news. The guy I replied to was being blantantly racist, said Japan shouls be nuked again and literally just joined about an hour ago - I'm going to call him out. And honestly why hasn't Nintendo Life at least delete that comment
@ValentineMeikin Sega and Square-Enix aren't going to remove Personas from Persona or summons from Final Fantasy and Nintendo isn't interested in suing them nor does it benefit them in any way to make their biggest partners angry at them.
This Bluesky post points out that Nintendo appears to be trying to patent a specific system introduced in Scarleltt and Violet where you summon a Pokemon and let it battle while you do other stuff. So I don't think it will affect Persona or Final Fantasy like a lot of people here and on Reddit are claiming https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:q3jopq5imjkocbqrnmxozm43/post/3lyi4mo46b22k?ref_src=embed
Would this patent actually affect Persona and Final Fantasy? It's still a ***** patent but it sounds like if the character is summoned on the field/map AND controllable then it would "violate" the patent
I feel like the people complaining about there not being enough first party Switch 2 exclusives are forgetting when there was a five month delay between the Demon's Souls remake and Returnal and that Demon's Souls was the only exclusive on the PS5
@Otimus It would be nice if John could have mentioned which devs he talked to who didn't have a dev kit. All I know is the Mouseworks guy and the Warframe devs don't have one yet - from what I see it's mainly smaller/indie dev teams.
I don't like every decision Nintendo has made but people are just so ***** angry and negative about ANYTHING related to the Switch 2 despite the system only being out for like three months
@AllBLK
I think it's mostly indie developers struggling to get a dev kit. I posted this on Reddit but the following games have either come out for Switch 2 or have been announced for it
Street Fighter 6
Monster Hunter Stories 3
FF7 Remake Intergrade
Elden Ring
Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac
Shadow Labyrinth
Yakuza 0, Kiwami and Kiwami 2
Sonic X Shadow Generations
Suikoden I and II Remastered
Dragon Quest 1 + 2 HD
Dragon Quest 3 HD
Final Fantasy Tactics Remastered
Romancing Saga 2 Revenge of the Seven
Persona 3 Reloaded
Hitman World of Assassin
Borderlands 4
Civilization VII
Hades 2
Hollow Knight Silksong
Deltarune
Rune Factory Guardians of Azure
Story of Seasons Grand Bazzar
Daemon X Machina 2
The Atlier Ryza trilogy
Disgaea 7
Kunitsu-Gami
No Man's Sky
Octopath Traveler 0
Sonic Racing Crossworlds
Fantasy Life i
Tony Hawk Pro Sakter 3+4
Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O
Ys X Legend of Heroes Trail Beyond the Horizon
Legend of Heroes Trails in the Sky FC
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight
Cyberpunk 2077
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero
Starfield (Not confirmed but NateTheHate says it's coming)
I don't understand this narrative of developers not having dev kits beyond smaller developers. Sega, Capcom, Konami, Square-Enix, 2K, EA, Warner Brother Games, Bamco and Nihon Falcolm all seem to have development kits and have released games for it and have more in development. Who are they referring to?
I'm pretty sure that Lady is supposed to be Pauline's grandmother and that Pauline in Bananza is the same one from Odyseey as a kid. There's artwork of Lady from Donkey Kong singing in a band so it could still be valid.
@sadboy Ever since the Switch 2 Direct in April it's been almost nothing but negativity. I'm not saying Nintendo can't be criticized but a lot of it has been misinformatiom like ALL Switch 2 games being $80 and Nintendo bricking systems when it's just a console ban from online services
@sadboy
What, more ports? People complain about Nintendo announcing ports and then complain about FF7 Remake and Elden Ring not having release dates despite those being ports and gamw key cards.
Also sorry if it offended you but it is exhausting reading comments from people saying the presentation is already going to suck based off the last one
@Axecon It's because Nintendo just came out with a new system and they don't want to raise the price of it or the games that people are already upset about being high. Most people who wanted a Switch 1 already have it so it makes sense to raise the price of that, some amiibo and some accessories ro not raise the price on the stuff that matters.
It sucks don't get me wrong but that's what we have to deal with thanks to the hellish administration
@Magician Game borrowing, trading and selling is a niche? It's better than buying a digital game on Switch 2 since if you don't like the game you can re-sell it.
And I'm sorry, but gamers made Steam the platform of choice for PC which helped contribute to the death of physical games on it, so I'm sorry if I'm more than annoyed from those who complain about game-key cards not being the real game but continue to buy games off Steam
@nathatruc Why do people have a problem with Game Key Cards but have no problem with buying digital games off of eShop, Playstation Store, Xbox or Steam?
@_747_
All the warnings in Japan have been lifted and are now just advisories. Plus the Direct is pre-recorded so I don't think the tsunami would affect it. I could be wrong though

OK, so I did look up the Skill Up video on the game and did see the game running lower than 60 in the Jungle area. I still think people are overblowing this and not considering the entire game is about destroying ***** with voxels
@the_beaver I've watched the preview videos - the worse drop was for a second during a destruction challenge and the player spamming Pauline's voice. Afterwards it's fine
Are you going to link me to the impressions where people who played it say the performance is bad? Because I haven't seen it and it looks like it plays fine from videos
@Samalik DK Bananza has fully destructible environments and targets 60 FPS while Knack doesn't and struggles to maintain to maintain 60 FPS even on PS4 Pro, even though from what I've seen of it it's a standard platform. And it's a launch game as well.
@hYdeks
Did you watch any of the previews? It looks like it plays pretty smoothly - I only saw one moment in a preview where the frame rate dropped it was a split second. It's not an Echoes of Wisdom situation

The battle system in Nexus Anima isn't even similar to what Nintendo actually pattented though, so they should be fine

Why would Nintendo care about Azur Promilia or whatever Miyoho is doing? They would have sued them by now if they cared

Sony also charged for some upgrades to PS5, and Nintendo has done free Switch 2 upgrades - not all of them are paid.
Also it's not like Sony is pumping out games at a high rate on PS5, and that system's been out for five years now. The Switch 2 is only two months old
