@AVahne no offence but I think you are chasing a fairy tale by dreaming of a successor to the SNES. I'm not even sure what you mean by that but if I was guessing you mean a nintendo console with good third party support and power on a level with it's competition then we have already had that with the Gamecube.
@MADGAZ ok I see. That's a neat idea but I'm not sure it's enough to base a new console around. Nintendo have said NX is a new way to play games and although that is a cool extra feature it doesn't quite fit with that.
@shaneoh Nintendo are constantly working on different ideas for hardware and software but I'm pretty sure they would've only moved on to more solid ideas in the last couple of years
@TeeJay how many games on Wii u could you actually 'not play normally'? As far as I'm aware there are only really a few that have different control schemes such as starfox
@peeks that's nice for you but not everyone can afford every system out there so for Nintendo fans who can only get one system some decent third party games on top of Nintendo's own would be good
@Dave24 NX was first mentioned in public in March 2015. They had probably only been working on it for about a year at that point, not sure where you got 2012/13 from?
Why do so many people keep talking about backwards compatibility? It has been said by kimishima that it is not a successor to the Wii u and also that it will be moving away from the Wii branding. Both these statements say nothing to suggest any form of backwards compatibility.
@GravyThief I got that and thought it was rubbish but I'm hoping that as this is from the official store, rather than zavvi, the quality will be better.
I kind of agree with him. Having seen all the kit and the space needed for VR, as well as the cost I cannot see it taking off in a big way yet. I think they are pushing it too early, it needs to be refined a lot before it will really sells. I can see why people are excited about it but it still seems very gimmicky to me.
I am so disappointed with this game. Not because it's terrible or awful but because it looks so good visually and has some cool looking parts yet has a sticker star core. I want to love it but I can't stand the battle system and lack of real rpg elements.
@CharlieSmile then I think it's a real shame that untrue rumours have made you think there was going to be something that you wanted in the game when it was never going to be a thing and that has now turned you off the game. I respect your decision but if I can offer you some friendly advice, don't place so much significance on small details that ultimately have little effect.
@peeks Yes and in the Wii's case it was the weakest console available. The original PlayStation and PS2 were both weaker than the competition but still sold the most. All of Nintendo's handheld's have been weaker than their competitors but still outsold them. The NES was weaker than the Sega master system and had the most sales. I don't disagree with you that the nx will need good third party support, and power will play a part in that, but it is not as important as many people think. The nx doesn't need to be the most powerful system available but it does need to be close to the others, then it's unique features can give it an edge
@peeks So you don't like the Wii u, not really interested in that but you mentioned Nintendo has always been the furthest behind in terms of power which is not true. None of the Snes, n64 or GameCube were the lowest powered in their generations. People are obsessed with power these days but when you actually look at which consoles have sold best in each generation it is rarely the most powerful that wins.
@Zach the footage of them using the motion controlled aiming was shown at the end of 2014 months before the nx was even mentioned for the first time. It still doesn't have any connection with what the nx is as twilight princess was a GameCube game that had a new control scheme added to it when the Wii became a thing. The nx and Wii u versions of the new Zelda will almost certainly play differently in some way based on the unique features of each console.
People underestimate how impressive the 3ds sales are. For a dedicated handheld gaming device to sell that many in a time when most people can play games on their phone is quite remarkable.
I have a feeling that Nintendo is going for a quality over quantity approach with the launch games. As long as there is a fairly steady stream of releases for the months after I would be happy with 2-3 good quality games to play at launch rather than the 20 odd 'mostly' average stuff from the Wii u launch
@MadAdam81 Nintendo have certainly not announced a handheld called MH. It was mentioned in a prediction from a business analyst. This is not an announcement.
I'm not interested in the politics that has gone on behind the scenes, I just love Eternal Darkness and would love a sequel or spiritual successor. I backed the original kickstarter and was disappointed it didn't reach its goal.
@gaga64 Yes I think it is stupid and such a waste to get these special editions and then do absolutely nothing with them. I have got a few special editions and plenty of amiibo and opened all of them because they have more value to me right now rather than any potential monetary value in the future
I want it to more focused on any changes to the game mechanics and new features, maybe 1 new pokemon. I felt with x and y they showed too many of them before which ruined the excitement of discovering new ones. It made it even worse that there were less than usual in those games. Less is more for me in this case
I've had enough of new super Mario bros, but not 2d Mario in general. I would like a 2d Mario game with a new aesthetic which has a different structure from the usual map screen, something more like a 2d metroid overworld that links to different levels and plays more like a 3d Mario but in 2d.
Thank goodness we got that trailer the other day or we would be waiting another month for any info. I actually think it's pretty shoddy the way coro coro have been teasing and not delivering this year.
From what was planned it is obvious why this failed. Disney were only using this as a promotional tool for their upcoming movies and they failed to realise that most people wanted classic Disney characters not star wars and marvel ones. Poor decision
This is the first time in ages that something has lived up to my expectations. The game engine looks fantastic, the tropical region looks awesome and the pokemon are great designs. Couldn't be happier right now. Popplio looks so cute.
I like it, it's fun. It's a cool extra seeing as I already have all the amiibo but not really a reason to go out and get them if you don't, which I'm guessing is what they are hoping for.

@ThanosReXXX well said

Played up to the second dungeon so far and it's a very nice game. The combat is especially pleasing.

@Dakt I agree with you. I was pointing out that the comment above saying that aonuma said the nx version would look the same is not necessarily true.
Re: Digital Foundry Assesses the Technology and Framerate in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
@Stu13 Yes!
Re: Digital Foundry Assesses the Technology and Framerate in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
@Sanicranfast No. They said the game will play the same on NX. That does not mean that the performance will not be improved.
