It's raining yen

We're always interested to see how Nintendo is performing in its homeland, as it no doubt plays a major part in its plans for the future. It's been all good news in Japan, fortunately, with the 3DS continuing to outsell all rival consoles combined, an astonishing feat unlikely to be repeated in North America or Europe.

Courtesy of Andriasang, who in turn interpreted news from Enterbrain and Famitsu, we've got more good news about Nintendo sales. New data has been released for January to show that Nintendo was the top software publisher in that period, claiming 23.6% of total sales revenue, with Namco Bandai in second place on 18%. Although Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir was a new release last month, this success has been attributed to the continuing sales of Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7.

All of this is against the backdrop of Vita hitting the market. Will 3DS perform as well in Europe and North America in the coming weeks and months after Sony's handheld hits?
