@ModdedInkling My point is simply that it isn't as trivial as you think. It would be nice, but not a given, by any means. It's one thing to ship a game with a flipped world and another to support both.
@iLikeUrAttitude Nope, it's absolutely useless. Because it's more often than not followed by yet another corporate cash grab of a game. This is neo-Blizzard, not Nintendo. The microtransactions are going to be out of control.
@uptownsoul Because people that wanted their PS5 got it in January when it became available again, now there's a surplus, it's a very simple explanation.
@ModdedInkling Just because they've done it before doesn't mean it's a trivial process and that it should be there out of the box by default for every game. Also, you realize double the assets means double the storage needed for them, right? If it's even done that way, because it might not be.
@ModdedInkling Right, you don't know absolutely anything about game development but you are just assuming it isn't difficult and therefore is inexcusable that this very specific thing wasn't included. What a baffling thing to say, honestly. Blows my mind.
Anything that follows an "every game should have" statement is objectively an impossibility and potentially a bad hot take. Not every game has to be for everyone, obviously.
Some games are made on a shoestring budget.
Other games don't have difficulty options by design.
Some games don't have character customisation by design.
Maybe some designers don't want to give you an easy way out with platforming assist, or can't implement it easily.
Maybe before giving advice to game developers, you should first improve your own articles to not be so absolute. It is a lot easier than implementing any of these features, believe me.
@uptownsoul Because it doesn't fit their narrative this month. Maybe the supply issues are back ๐๐๐
And do note that this month saw 2 massive releases for PS5 as well, while Switch had pretty much nothing. People simply need to accept that Switch simply is the better console to buy right now. It's cheaper, it has a significantly superior library and a great form factor. An absolute no brainer.
@-wc- That's the thing, a game like this needs all the good word of mouth it can get because competing with Mario Kart is a big ask. Adding stuff that won't quite fly for many people before you've got any brand loyalty is absolute madness.
@-wc- I don't think that is what the article is focusing on specifically. The microtransactions in themselves in a boxed retail title are bad enough on their own and completely unacceptable. I totally agree that there's nothing wrong with taking back free currency, but all those freemium currencies are nonsense to begin with. I don't play games that feature them.
@Arawn93 Guaranteed, not just likely. MercurySteam is in Spain, and obviously don't have the same revenue as CoD. Their salaries are not on the same ballpark at all, they can't compete. It's a combination of more money and just something different. 7 years working on the exact same type of game can be a bit tiresome. Gamers don't get this at all because games are not their job.
@GeneJacket Says the guy with inside knowledge in MercurySteam, right? He simply left for the money, that's all there is to it. Or he got bored, game developers are not the type of people that want to work on the same thing all the time.
@PARK1755 Upgrade money wise for sure but yeah, personally I wouldn't want to work on a game I don't enjoy. I've had offers from Chinese companies more than doubling my salary but I'm not into mobile stuff at all.
I really like this design. They have really upped their game since the Black/White days when Pokรฉmon were entirely by the numbers with very few exceptions.
@HamatoYoshi It isn't about that, it's about not being the original version of the art, plain and simple. It doesn't matter if it's cleavage or a rock being shaped differently. Obviously all games have localization, but it seems like such a minor and pointless thing to change. Not that I will boycotting or even notice it at all, that's a ridiculous overreaction, but I don't like this puritan nonsense one bit.
Pretty strange that they are doubling down to the Earthlock moniker, it really isn't anything to write home about. This game looks far better than Earthlock.
@fusermarucs Do you really think so? You see these three awful films (and their admittedly better spinoffs like Solo) creating lots of new fans? They were clearly just a quick cash-in. They are not going to have the cultural impact the previous ones did. Not even the prequels, at least those had great memes. What memes do these have? "Somehow Palpatine returned"? That's just plain dumb.
@fusermarucs I watched it too, does that mean I liked it? No, I was there just to witness the trainwreck and some cheap spectacle, which is exactly what the ST was.
@xDeckardx Ah, yes, the "it's for kids!" argument. A classic in the repertoire of Disney apologists. Look, just because something targets primarily children doesn't mean it has to be trash. Case in point, Disney's own output back when they were a company with a spine and quality control.
@BranJ0 There weren't really enough EMMI encounters to ever get annoying or boring if you ask me, isn't it something like 6 EMMIs in the entire game? I can't remember off the top of my head but I'm certainly not far off. Besides it's a perfectly valid thing to make the player feel empowered by having an enemy they could barely escape from early on become just another slightly more annoying minion. It's what RPGs are built on, and other genres with progression have this same concept too.
More likely for them to pay me to play this game than me to give them a single penny. Not to mention this has the nerve to call the Rey fanfiction part of the Skywarker Saga. Maybe they should have gotten the memo that nobody likes the Sequel Trilogy before spending this much time in development hell for this game.
@mr-duster Because it's just a blue duck. One of the most uninspired designs of any generation. Plus, we already had an awesome duck Pokemon from the first generation, Psyduck, who is not generic.
I just pick based on what looks best and most unique to me. I wish Ducklett didn't exist because I like Quaxley a lot more and Ducklett is a dumb and generic design. I hope they will retcon and delete some of these in the future.
His comments don't make much sense to me, sure, Samus is very agile, but the environments in EMMI sections get in your way, or you simply don't have all those abilities at the time earlier on. Keep in mind, just because be made AM2R, his opinion is not any more important than anyone else's.
The new trainer designs are the best we've ever had, I always thought they looked ugly in previous versions. Not so much in game, since they were usually quite abstract/Chibi, but in artwork, absolutely. The original artwork style has not aged well in an age where you can have more definition in game than in those old art works. As for the wonky eyes, you guys have way too much free time is all I can say. Get a life.
Serves them right, the game looks absolutely rancid. They should have stayed in their lane. Other than Bayonetta 3 which will come out this year, they haven't released anything good in ages.
I didn't like Mario & Rabbids, although I'm normally a fan of this genre. Not gonna lie, mainly because I dislike the idea of Mario and Rabbids being in the same game. Rabbids are just dumb. But the pace of the game was also extremely slow and boring.
