Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition (DSiWare)

TourianTourist

Yeah, the Hero's Trial should be somewhere mentioned in this review. This is the hardest **** in any Zelda game yet! Even Zelda II is a walk in the park compared to this stage. It blows tons of enemies at you with the nastiest combinations (Ice Wizrobes and B+C Troopers, anyone?), it's cheap, it's cruel, it's never ending and it will kill you many, many times. I haven't even cleared all of the Hero's Trial yet, but I already need therapy. Zelda fans were asking for some challenge since years now and this one offers enough challenge for a life time.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's 3DS Press Conference

TourianTourist

@Thomas Whitehead:
"free download of Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition. [...]this isn’t a simple port of the GBA title, but rather an enhanced edition with additional levels, weapons and an all-new one player mode."

Errh, no new weapons. Singleplayer and new levels are true, but all the items and unlockable sword moves (which you get from the new levels) were already in the GBA version. The additional sword moves were originally unlocked in A Link to the Past. Now they are the reward for beating the new stages. I know that in the press release Nintendo made a big deal out of them, but they aren't new.

Re: Four Swords Anniversary Edition Details Announced

TourianTourist

@legodavid15:
One Link per player. Only in singleplayer you control two at once.

@Mully: As someone, who has played through the entire original game, I can assure you, that I'm really looking forward to the singleplayer. Multiplayer can be fun, no question about that, however, it gets annoying that you're dependent on a 2nd player. With the singleplayer I will be able to play this game whenever I want and I don't have to rely on other people.

@Collinhall:
It's an enhanced port of the GBA Four Swords. It has nothing to do with FSA except for some features that were taken over.

Re: Four Swords Anniversary Edition Details Announced

TourianTourist

@Mully:
The original game could be played with only two people, so no need for four systems. The singleplayer is based on the two-player mode, you control two Links at once. You can control them individually or swap into an "AI buddy"-mode, where the 2nd Link helps you out by performing certain actions automatically.

Online would be really annoying, you need to communicate all the time and some players would just screw you. Trust me, I played through the entire game with two friends and online is not something you want for this game. The singleplayer solves all problems, you can play every bit of this game whenever you want. No need to look for other players or to torture yourself with bad online play. It's perfect.

Re: Features: Games That Should Already Be on Virtual Console

TourianTourist

Very good article. The two games, that I want the most, are Zelda Master Quest and Terranigma. Master Quest on the GameCube was just an emulated N64 game, similar to Ocarina of Time on the same disc, so it would be indeed a candidate for the Virtual Console, though it was originally never released on the N64. And Terranigma is just awesome.

More third party N64 titles would be lovely, too.

Re: HD Wii - Is It Coming? Depends Who You Ask

TourianTourist

Of course the next Nintendo console will be HD. The question more or less is, when this console will arrive (probably not in the next two or three years, the Wii is still very healthy) and wether this will be a Wii successor or an entirely new idea.

Re: Review: Soul Blazer (Super Nintendo)

TourianTourist

I love Terranigma, it's my very favorite Action RPG out there. However, I was skeptical about Soul Blazer, but after this review I'm going to check it out. I didn't like Illusion of Gaia too much, which is why I lost interest in going back even further.

Re: Read Your Horoscope with the Today and Tomorrow Channel

TourianTourist

OMG... Nintendo gives us something for FREE!!! Let's start complaining!!

Seriously, Nintendo could give everyone a copy of the Metroid Prime Trilogy for free, people would still complain.

It absolutely doesn't matter, if this channel is stupid or worthless or a waste of memory (omg, my 2GB SD card will suffer from that one, lol), it's for FREE, gorramn it. Never look a gift horse in the mouth.

Re: More Nintendo Shenanigans Reveal Football Controller Patent

TourianTourist

A patent doesn't mean, that they're using it as an actual product. They're probably patenting every crap idea, so they can sue or at least charge all those third parties, who are developing similar peripherals.

Well, at least it's nothing, that could be used in Zelda. Because the horseback thing gives me nightmares.

Re: Wii "Most Reliable Console of This Generation"

TourianTourist

Nintendo usually delivers quality products, all my old Nintendo systems still work like day one. While my XBox on the other started screwing around after a very short time.

@anthonyb:
You can copy save files on an SD card, but not the ones of some multiplayer games because of the unique code. Like Brawl or Mario Kart Wii. I think, the worst is definitely Brawl with all the unlockables, trophies and stickers... took me ages to get all those, if this was lost, I certainly wouldn't bother with collecting everything again... too much work. ^^

Re: Mario vs. Donkey Kong and Pilotwings Out in Europe This Friday

TourianTourist

@Rapadash6:
But you in NA usually got all the retail games long time before us. Europe was the end of the line for a very long time, but now it's unfair, when we get some old SNES/N64 game rereleases earlier? Gotta be kidding me.

I mean, take for example SSB. When it originally came out in NA in April 99, we had to wait until November to get it. That's what I call unfair.

Re: Tony Hawk RIDE Set For Wii In November

TourianTourist

WTF? Why don't they just use the Balance Board? At least some people have it and some more games using it can't hurt... And seriously, instead of spending 99$ on that thing, I could just go out and skateboard myself. xD

Good thing, I'm not interested in any Tony Hawk game anyway... or skateboarding in general.

Re: Brand New Wacky World of Sports Screens

TourianTourist

@Objection_Blaster: exactly... I thought the same thing

I prefer Miis in those kinds of games, I don't get, why those third party party games always use own stupid characters. Just use the Miis, they're fun and people like them.

Re: Miyamoto: Have Confidence in Us

TourianTourist

The main point are the games and the job they fulfill. No good hardware without good games. The main reason, why the Wii was so successful, was not because of costs or hardware or anything, it was because of games like Wii Sports, that showed the people, how much fun the Wii is. Or training software like WiiFit, which was of use to people.

Unless they don't show any good and useful software using the Vitality Sensor, no one is going to care about it. It was a big mistake to show the device on the E3 without any software to back it up. This is something, Sony and Microsoft would do, but not Nintendo. Nintendo is a software AND a hardware developer, that is Nintendo's sword and it worked perfectly for both DS and Wii. And I don't know what they thought by showing us the Vitality Sensor without any software.

I'm not saying, this thing is stupid or doesn't have any potential, I'm just saying, they failed to show the potential.

Re: Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3

TourianTourist

My favorite Jump'n'Run on the GameBoy and probably one of my favorite Jump'n'Runs alltogether, though I don't play much Jump'n'Runs to be honest.

But the visuals and sounds were very good for GameBoy standards. I also liked the changing level design and the hunt for hidden treasures.

Re: Link's Crossbow Training

TourianTourist

Of all the shooting games I've played, this is probably the best. It's fun, but only for a very short time. You will beat this once in like 3 hours to get all the platinum medals and then maybe return to it in a year. So, try to get it as cheap as possible or otherwise it might not be worth the money.

Re: Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland

TourianTourist

It's surprisingly good. I was a Tingle hater before I got my hands on this. But the humor is so awesome and it shares many similarities with a real Zelda game, gameplaywise. I especially enjoyed the environments and dungeons, as well as all the collectible items. The game really kept my entertained in a time, where I was a lot on the move and depending on my DS.

I'm looking forward to the sequel, though this one looks more like a point & click adventure, which is sad. I like the Action Adventure formula more.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

TourianTourist

This was my first Zelda and it instantly turned me into a Zelda fan.

It has great dungeon design, an intriguing story (the LOST of all Zelda games) and lots of charming attributes. And it's still part of my top favorite Zelda games and games of all time.

Re: Nintendo Sales Drop as Global Economy Goes Down the Crapper

TourianTourist

@NintendoPurist:
No, hardcore gamers alone are not where the money does come from. Ask Sony and Microsoft. With the Wii Nintendo was fighting against recession and a shrinking video market. By winning new customers, people who never played games before. By expanding their audience. So they could sustain. And it obviously worked.

Some say Nintendo now has abandoned their core audience, the hardcore Nintendo fans, but I am a Nintendo fan since 1996 and I've never been happier with any other console than the Wii. I never had so much fun playing videogames. And Nintendo still certainly does a lot for both their core audience and classic audience. Nintendo is aiming for all possible audiences and that's where the money comes from. They're trying to make everyone happy (well, everyone except bloody FPS HD graphic whores, but oh well...)

The reasons, why the sales weren't as good as before, are very obvious. Nintendo even says it theirselves, last time they had WiiFit and Mario Kart Wii, this time they had nothing. Wii Music was a mistake and a failure. But now with Wii Sports Resort and New Super Mario Bros. Wii I can see more sales coming in.

Re: Game Boy 20th Anniversary Special

TourianTourist

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening was my first Zelda game and it instantly turned me into a Zelda fan. It's still one of my favorite games today.

Hopefully you're going to review it. I'm looking forward to it.

Re: Epic Games: Give Us HD Wii and We'll Talk

TourianTourist

Oh man... I was quite the Unreal/Epic fan back in the good times, but I quit on them since the Unreal Engine 3. Way over my head. I was hoping for a Wii version of Unreal Championship 2. You know, the Unreal Tournament game using swords and all on the old XBox. It was really good, but the XBox controller controls were absolutely aweful. But the Wii would be a perfect fit for both shooting and sword fighting. It's perfect. And the Unreal Engine 2.x would run smooth on the Wii. No need to downgrade the brown-color thingy they call Unreal Engine 3. And the Wii could use a cool game like that, so why not? And something similar to UC2 on the Wii is an absolute no-brainer, I wonder, why Epic still haven't made it.

And Nintendo doesn't need to upgrade to HD. There's no need for HD graphics on the market, it's overshooting. Most customers don't even have a HD TV and most of those who can afford one, don't care too much about high end graphic shooters and still stick with the Wii. And making HD games and hardware is much more expansive. It's arrogant and ignorant of Epic Games to say something like Nintendo should rise up to them, because they are part of a shrinking market and not Nintendo.

As for me, I had my good times with the old Unreal games. They were awesome, but back then Epic had more standards than just "the best possible graphics". An Unreal game on the Wii would have been really nice, but oh well. Can't have everything...

Re: Review: Wii Sports: Resort (Wii)

TourianTourist

Oh man, I was already hyped for Friday, but now I really can't wait. I will get some friends over, with whom I have played the original Wii Sports regulary, so it's going to be a lot of fun. Thanks for the great review, Corbie.

I'm also curious about how well the MotionPlus really works. How's the calibrating? Do you have to re-calibrate a lot?

Re: Review: The Conduit (Wii)

TourianTourist

Fair review, I'd say.

I'd like to see more first person shooters on the Wii, but more unique stuff. The Conduit is just another Half Life. I would like to see Epic Games working on an Unreal title for the Wii, the Unreal series always has been pretty unique and cool. Definitely fits the Wii. And my all time favorite first person shooter is still the first Unreal Tournament. But sadly enough, Epic is too busy with the 360 right now.

But right now, I will spend my money on the upcoming Metroid Prime Trilogy.

Re: No US Plans For Black Wii

TourianTourist

@SGAK:
lol.... Wii HD... not going to happen

There's no need to combat the high def consoles, because they're no competition anyway. Let them canabilize theirselves, while Nintendo goes their own way. Actually, that the Wii is NOT a HD console is one of its advantages, believe it or not. The hardware is less expensive and so is developing games. HD was overshooting the video game market, most of the customers don't have a HD TV anyway. And the same with blu-ray. A more expansive re-release of the Wii with all those features, which only a small percentage of the customers actually wants, would be a bad idea.

Re: No US Plans For Black Wii

TourianTourist

I already have a white Wii and buying a differently colored Wii NOW is just not an option. Thanks to not copyable savegames and VC games, plus all the additional equipment I bought in white... But I would love a black one, it really looks good.

They should have offered two colors from the start. Like the DSLite/DSi.
