Baby Park is one of the worst tracks in the series. Mario Kart has always had an element of luck to it but Baby Park removes almost all of the driving skill from the equation. It worked somewhat in Double Dash because of the unique item mechanics, but modern games also have more racers on the track adding to the chaos. It’s fine as a one-off novelty, but we definitely don’t need more tracks like it.
The author’s name is ZPL, not ZDL. He’s very active in the Mario Kart Wii modding community and has made some great looking tracks that I encourage people to check out.
Personally, I don’t like the yellowish tone the grass normally has on Toad Circuit so this is a nice improvement.
The custom track community and advanced driving mechanics make Mario Kart Wii easily the best game in the series. Double Dash has its charm but the drifting isn’t nearly as satisfying as other games.
For me, button mapping and other control options are the only accessibility options that really matter. Nintendo is really the worst culprit when it comes to this because certain games like Super Mario Party or The World Ends With You force certain control schemes that make it virtually impossible for me to play. I beat Demon Souls on PS3 without any accessibility options so I’m not asking for a lot here.
@Damo I think most people dislike her for a variety of reasons relating to past comments and inflammatory statements she’s made, not because they feel “threatened” by how big of a Nintendo fan she is. I’m just not a fan of generalizing a group so you can try to invalidate any legitimate problems people may have with her.
Anyone thinking it was going to be an announcement for Diamond/Pearl remakes of the next mainline title deserve whatever disappointment they feel. Sword and Shield aren’t even 1 year old yet and we know they’re working on the dlc. They don’t care how many dislikes the video gets because Unite will make tons of money regardless.
I can’t believe it’s 2019 and some people are still upset about rom hacks. It’s amazing what fans can do and how talented some of them are. If you really think the presence of these games negatively affects the sales of mainline Pokemon games then I don’t know what to say.
If you’re upset about this, I can’t imagine what you’d think of the Super Mario World hacking scene. Some of those creations put Mario Maker to shame.
EDIT: @Ralizah
I’d say around 99% of these rom hacks and fan games don’t get pulled by Nintendo. It’s only the stuff that gets a lot of attention like Prism or AM2R that receive C&D’s.
I think scores are only valid coming from the same person. With large websites you have multiple writers with different tastes and opinions. The same game could have two wildly different scores depending on the writer so there’s a lack of consistency. If all reviews come from the same person you can at least get an idea of their preferences and how they compare to your own.
All these people complaining that he used an emulator obviously don't get the point. These kinds of kaizo, insanely difficult hacks are designed so that you need to abuse save states.
@C-Olimar The easiest thing to do is to buy the Anniversary, X, and Zero Collections. They're a great value and the former two are relatively cheap nowadays.
I was really hoping for this game to turn out better since I enjoyed Fall of Cybertron so much. I guess I'll wait for a price drop before picking this one up.
I would have liked it to be April, but between Bravely Default, Professor Layton, Donkey Kong Country, Yoshi's Island, and the eShop, I think I can manage.
@Thats-what-she I don't think link was a blonde until Ocarina of Time.
I have to admit, I was skeptical of this game at first. As we saw more and more of it, It looked better and better, but I never would have guessed that it would turn out this good.
I could see the Cherry one being bundled with 3D World. The Mango one just seems weird though, I guess i'd wait to see pictures before I judge it though.
I'll be continuing my adventure in Pikmin 2 as well as Pokemon LeafGreen. I might get some DK: Jungle Climber and Transformers: War For Cybertron in there as well though.
Fantastic article guys, I agree with both sides of the spectrum. I don't really think that a numerical score is necessary myself, but Tom made some great points.
I'll be getting this day one as I've played the original for over 30 hours. I don't have that much experience in Final Fantasy games, but I still find the music to be outstanding and the gameplay is quite good as well.

Re: Free Couples Update For 'Haven' Adds Same Gender Options
The writing in this game was awful, I don’t see myself ever finishing it
Re: The Game Awards Has A "World Premiere" It's Been Working On With A Dev For 2.5 Years, And One Guess Is Zelda
It’s probably the long rumored Silent Hill game. BOTW2 doesn’t make any sense so people shouldn’t get their hopes up.

Re: Soapbox: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is Worthy of its Name
But it’s not Melee so it won’t be the best right? At least if your recent list is anything to go by.

Re: Famitsu Readers Choose Super Mario Kart as the Best Racing Game of All Time
Super Mario Kart is trash. I'd play any other game in the series over it, and plenty of other racing games in general.
Re: Weirdness: You Can Play and Win in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Without Touching the Controller
I know people are making fun of its inclusion, but as a quadripelegic this actually might make the game playable for me.
Re: Mighty No. 9 Has Been Delayed Once Again as Keiji Inafune Offers Sincere Apologies
What a trainwreck. This is probably the worst Kickstarter campaign I have ever seen. I feel sorry for all the people who backed it.

Re: Review: Blaster Master (Wii U eShop / NES)
Eh, not a fan of this one. I didn't like the level design or the overhead sections at all.

Re: YouTube Stars Aren't Happy With Nintendo's Revenue-Sharing 'Creators Program'
Oh wow, the Youtube stars with millions of subscribers are complaining they don't get enough money....
I'm sorry, but I feel no real sympathy for them. The people this really hurts are those with smaller channels.
Re: More Details Emerge on Xenoblade Chronicles X and Its Non-Linear World
300 hours for one playthrough? And I thought Xenoblade Chronicles was insane.
Re: Mario Kart 8 DLC Pack 1 Hits on 13th November, Content and amiibo Details Confirmed
Why in the world would they include SNES Rainbow Road again? I really don't get the logic behind that when it was just remade in Mario Kart 7.

I'm proud to be a backer.
Having more time will only make the game more polished in the end anyway.

Re: Satoru Iwata Confirms That DS Games Are Coming To The Wii U Virtual Console
Wii U needs the boost more than the 3DS right now so I don't think this is a bad move. I'll be interested to see what happens with it in the future.

Re: Feature: The Nintendo Life Crypt of Downloadable Horrors II: The Bloodening
Hey, Castlevania: The Adventure had a pretty good soundtrack. The first level theme was the only thing that made going through it bearable though.
Re: Eiji Aonuma Wants it to be "Fun To Get Stuck" in A Link Between Worlds
Aonuma is a swell guy. He really seems like he wants to make games the absolute best they can be.

I'll gladly back this if it hits the Wii U goal. It looks like a really great game and I'm glad there's a chance it might come now.

Ok, Rhythm Thief it is. I might need another SD card with all these great titles coming out on the eShop though.
Re: Nintendo Download: 3rd October (North America)
I'll probably get Rhythm Thief if it's around $30.
Re: Super Mario 3D World Brings New Power-Ups to the Mushroom Kingdom
@silverbrick
I believe you can also use the Wii Remote or Wiimote plus Nunchuck as well.
This game just got 100 times more awesome with the addition of Bowser's rad car.
Re: La-Mulana is Receiving A Sequel
This was unexpected, but also very welcome. I really enjoyed my time with La Mulana.
Re: Poll: Would You Buy Grand Theft Auto V On Wii U?
Why anyone in their right mind would buy a game glorifying crime is beyond me.

Re: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies Will Not Be Getting A Boxed Copy in The West
