La-Mulana finally excavated itself to WiiWare last year after a lengthy process. Originally a PC title, it turned out to be an incredibly enjoyable game on Nintendo's system and earned a 10/10 from us in our review.
Now, some six years after its original release, developer Nigoro has a sequel on the cards that will be fully unveiled during Tokyo Game Show.
Details right now are pretty slim and there's no word on what this will be release on yet, however, in an interview with USgamer, designer Takumi Naramura said it is being made with all systems in mind. No specifics have yet been mentioned, though it's likely we'll find out more very soon when the game is officially announced.
So far, all we really know is it will star a new character, who is the daughter of the original hero, and it will be roughly the same length as the first outing.
What are your thoughts on this new La-Mulana title? Would you like to see it come to Wii U? Let us know in the comment section below.

Awesome sauce
Yes yes yes this is awesome news. Although I still have a long way to go to finish the original.
I will be awesomed if it hits WiiU
I really enjoyed the game on WiiWare. The game was long and challenging (probably unfair in spots), but the more you played the more sense the entire world made and the more enjoyable your progress.
Hard to believe it made any money given the late time it was released (and the sad state of WiiWare in general) but hopefully the sequel will still have a chance to be released on a Nintendo platform.
I loved this but I'm afraid. The first was masochistic at times and the puzzles were sometimes incredibly hard to figure out without outside help. Doing this stuff again? Yikes...
This was unexpected, but also very welcome. I really enjoyed my time with La Mulana.
This... this made my day-- month-- year!!
Did the Wii version reach the minimum 6000 downloads?
I dont cate if they make a sequel to the game. Just make a sequel to the soundtrack! Tho a game would rock too!
I struggled with the first one, but I'm glad this is getting a sequel. I hope that Nintendo will offer them a Wii U development kit to to try and get this into the eStore.... As a side note it would be cool if Nintendo could promote WiiWare titles on the eStore, much like they do with the DSiWare on the 3DS eStore, that way more people could experince the origional version without having to go through the hastle of launching the Wii menu & buying Wii Points
awesome, hard game but very addictive, would love to see another one.
I'm one of the ones who downloaded the first game for WiiWare. "Tough as nails" is an understatement, but I loved the game anyway. I did use a guide my first time through the game, but since I then went back and beat it again on Hard Mode, I experienced plenty of frustration of a different kind. (As if the bosses weren't hard enough normally... )
I'll definitely be looking forward to this sequel.
I haven't even tried the original yet. I might consider purchasing it in the future though.
@Dpullam Get it for £2.40 (Till 23th September) on PC then if you really decide you want it on wiiware get it again.
Great news! I totally enjoyed La Mulana on wii and hope the sequel comes to both WiiU and 3DS. I just hope the hints are a little less vague in the sequel. I had to swallow my pride several times and use a guide to solve some of the puzzles in the original.
La Mulana was alright to much hype about it, but i did enjoy it and i will buy the sequel if released
I really should get back to playing the first game since it actually felt like a Metroidvania, which is an awesome genre.
Have the first one released on the 3DS Shop, Ninty!!
This IS the best gaming news I've heard next to Nintendo's E3 showcasing all year!
The first La Mulana became my 2nd-3rd favorite game of all time right under Skyward Sword in video game history within the first 5 hours of gameplay!! Literally a flawless game in every sense!
I'm very much looking forward to a sequel!!! It's hard to imagine Nigoro pulling off something better or even equally good as the first but even if it's almost as good I will be pleased.
But will the sequel have the awesome MSX graphics/music of the original, or will it be fancy looking like the remake?
@Asaki This video should answer your question:

No 8-bit =( Oh well.
8-bit is sooo 80's
Personally I prefer the remake's visual style on wii far more than the original pc look. But that's me
Yep. 8-bit has its charm, but the 2012 remake is just so, so awesome. I much prefer it over the original.
