Re: Hardware Review: Wii U

SteveW

Loud? My Wii U doesn't seem any louder than the Wii. I have it sitting flat, maybe that is the difference? did you leave enough room for airflow around your Wii U?

Re: Hacker Claims To Have Deciphered Wii U CPU and GPU Speeds

SteveW

Hardware comparisons are pointless, it's the games that matter. When you think back at the NES do you think about Mario, Zelda, Contra, etc... or do you think about how fast the processor was?

it doesn't matter how fast the current hardware is, it's soon to be outdated by something even faster so lets worry about how good the games are.

Re: Wii Mini Is Official And Has No Online Connectivity

SteveW

@WanderingPB - speaking of chess... it's hard to believe I can do just about everything imaginable in one game or another on the Wii except play chess. Why no decent chess game in the USA? I'm not counting that horrible board games collection release.

Re: Review: Real Heroes Firefighter 3D (3DS)

SteveW

@KenB - The Wii game is actually one of my favorite Wii games, I tend to like unique games, Endless Ocean, etc... and simulations. If the 3DS version isn't as good as the Wii version then I won't bother, the Wii remote was perfect for this type of game.

Re: Guide: Using USB Storage with the Wii U

SteveW

@edhe - the Wii U will have the same size drive that a PC has. A 1 TB drive does not appear to have 1 TB of space because the drive manufactures calculate space differently than PCs do. On a PC, 1K is 1024 bytes. The drive manufactures calculate 1K as being 1000 bytes. They started doing this years ago to mislead people into thinking they are getting more storage.

Re: Guide: Using USB Storage with the Wii U

SteveW

@adrenochrome - I disagree, it's better to have a drive with its own power adapter. Supplying a 2TB drive with power from the Wii U USB ports can shorten the life of the Wii U. The Wii U is USB 2.0 not 3.0, 3.0 can handle a much larger load than 2.0. That is why Nintendo recommends a drive with its own power.

Re: Wii U Basic Can Only Store 3GB Of Downloaded Software

SteveW

"Is the difference in built-in memory between the Basic and Premium models actually significant enough to matter?" - of course, people will fill that 3 GB with game save data in no time. I definitely want the extra memory because game saves have to be stored to internal memory.

Re: Guess What? Wii U Discs Have A Rounded Edge

SteveW

With the amount of data they are capable of holding it's no surprise that extra care has been given to these discs, I just wonder how long blu-ray discs will last. The smaller the data, the more sensitive they are to damage. Blu-ray discs were originally going to come in cartridges because they were so sensitive to finger prints and dust... until TDK invented a coating for them.

Re: MCV: Wii U Is A Stopgap System, Real Successor Is Still To Come

SteveW

No, that is not their plan, Nintendo does not want to match the next $600+ microsoft or sony systems and lose money on it at the same time, they are a real game company that needs to make a profit. Unfortunately we have way too many people out there that only care about processing power instead of creativity and fun. Just because someone else is doing it doesn't mean Nintendo has to, they didn't get where they are today by being followers. iif you want quality Nintendo games you will buy their systems.

Re: Wii U Epic Mickey 2 May Not Feature Off-TV Play

SteveW

@dylantalon - I have to disagree, I have yet to see anything on the PS3 that I wanted to play that I couldn't play on my PC, and with higher resolution graphics and better controls. Nintendo has better exclusives than anyone, you either buy Nintendo or you miss out on some amazing games.

Re: Wii U Epic Mickey 2 May Not Feature Off-TV Play

SteveW

The gamepad is becoming more useless every day. I thought everything could be played on it and then they say no virtual console games and now there are Wii U games that can't do it? that's ridicilous, I can see myself only buying games that use the Wii remote and Nunchuck.
