Sure, a fix is better than nothing, and it's great they're trying to set things right for Australia and New Zealand, but are they not going to solve the other big problems like host-only progression while in multiplayer? Multiplayer only being in dungeons, and they can't go on the adventure with you like in the original game? Are they not going to put in local multiplayer at all? Not fix the long load times?
I wouldn't mind these problems if this game wasn't focused on multiplayer, but it was originally made with multiplayer in mind. For them to mess it up this badly is a let down. While it's nice that there's more ways to play this game other than GameCube, they dropped the ball with this remaster.
Hyrule Warriors was ported to Switch, yet it's still available to purchase on the Wii U. New Super Mario Bros U + Luigi U was ported to the Switch, and yet it's available on the Wii U for purchase. Is it because those games are still priced at 60 dollars?
I'm not mad or anything, and I don't see it as a big deal, I just find it a bit confusing. The ones that are full priced they'll keep on the E-Shop, while ones that aren't the same price, they'll delist? There are physical copies still out there which I bet aren't 60 dollars. I don't see the point of doing this, unless I'm missing something? I don't want to jump the gun here.
I have a VITA, 3DS, 2DS, PS4, PS3, and Switch. The Switch is the first time where I've experienced drifting.
In order to fix it, I grab a plastic straw, put it under the Joystick's flap (don't know what it's called), and blow slowly. That surprisingly fixes the drifting. Should I have to do that though? No. These controllers are expensive and for this to have this big of an issue is unacceptable, oversight or not. We shouldn't have to fix up something Nintendo is making us pay for.
To be honest, my only gripe with the game so far is that Duke's voice just doesn't fit right. His voice is higher quality than the rest of the game.
At times, I also find the level design a bit confusing to go through. But otherwise, I'd say this is a really solid port. I never played the original before, and to be honest, I'm actually liking it a bit more than DOOM II.
Great game. I have it on multiple platforms, and it used to be my all time favorite game.
I put many, many hours into the 3DS version (150 hours), many hours into the PC version, and put a decent amount of time into the PS3 version. I also played the mobile version, and got decently far into it before giving up due to the horrible controls. Same with the PS4 version, since the controls just don't feel right.
I'm actually playing the VITA version right now. So far, it's a good port once you get use to the controls. In general, I recommend checking it out if you like games like Minecraft and want stronger focus on progression. Game's filled with content and stuff to find out.
I'm glad the dismission got rejected. As much as I love the joycons, the drifting on my right joystick gets very frustrating, like when playing Resident Evil 5.
This was an oversight of Nintendo to do, and that's understandable. But they should be fixing the issue more than just asking people to send their controllers to be fixed. They should start making new kind of joysticks or use different material to fix the drifting issues.
I bought Earthbound on my 3DS. I think it's a solid game so far, although it's not really something I would play all day. Personally, I would rather watch somebody else play it.
I can't deny the charm and love that was put into it though! It has aged incredibly well and the visuals work very nicely.
While the combat looks a bit uninteresting judging by what I saw, I like the style! I wasn't expecting them to go into this direction, but it's a welcoming direction nonetheless.
Hope they also port the first game onto the Switch as well, the Steam version. Visual Novels are usually at home for the system in my opinion!
I can't judge the movie based on two posters, but so far it looks like a bland and generic live action video game movie. Because you can make a video game movie, that doesn't mean you should.
But hey, just giving my two cents. Like I said, this movie isn't out. Maybe the guys know what they're doing? Only time will tell.
I really like that they're doing these kind of collections for the big screen. Really gives people the chance to check these games out if they missed them, like me. I might check it out in the future.
I appreciate that by what I've seen, the DS's cutscenes aren't compressed and the amount of layout choices you can choose for the DS games is very forward thinking, heck the amount of options the collection has is very appreciated. Sure, I think the smoothing filter makes the games' art look ugly/muddy, but good thing you can turn that off.
It's a job well done. I hope there's a Mega Man Battle Network Collection in the future, since there's like six games in that series.
To be honest, I'm somewhat surprised with some of the content for a game like this, judging by the ESRB "T" rating's description.
I'm not offended or anything, heck I actually found some of the examples they bring up to be hilarious. Just something unexpected for this game.
Hey, what content the game has doesn't equal a game if there's no gameplay. And the gameplay we have here looks pretty fun. I love Level 5 games, and they seem to have done another great job once again.
Huge props to him! I'm looking forward to what else he has to offer, since he made one of the most beloved and chill games of all time.
Him not wanting people to get their hopes up, I can understand that. Usually hype can result in disappointment like Hello Neighbor, for example. That games had many people excited. I like the artstyle and concept, but the product was clearly rushed.
Same for Blacksad to me. I was really looking forward to that game, but when they showed a bit of gameplay on YouTube (which looked unpolished. Missing sound effects and such killed the atmosphere), I was disappointed. And then I heard of the technical issues and bugs.
The only game I'm excited for is Persona 5 Scramble after I finished the demo. I'm not hyped for what ConcernedApe's working on next, but I would be lying if I said I'm not interested.
This is really cool! Seeing a Switch game turned into a Gameboy-styled fangame is very fascinating. Sure, the first game was on Gameboy, but this is still cool nonetheless.
Sadly, I think Nintendo's going to make them stop working on it.
I got the chance to check out the Switch demo, and honestly, I'm highly looking forward to it. The game runs beautifully, and the gameplay is more enjoyable than I was expecting. It's very smooth and stylish, along with it being a bit different than I was expecting. I skipped all the cutscenes, since I can't read Japanese (lmao), but the cutscenes felt like as if I was playing on the PS3. It has the same fantastic quality, and a lot of love was clearly put into the game.
The only issue is that the Switch version lacks AA, resulting in the game's pixels standing out more. But the style is still there and looks just as amazing as Persona 5.
So, I'm not a fan of Dynasty Warriors' gameplay. I have Hyrule Warriors and I finished the story, but I just couldn't bring myself back to it due to how repetitive it is.
But after watching some Persona 5: Scramble, I might save up and check it out. I loved Persona 5 on the PS3, and while the gameplay doesn't look all that fun to me at first glance, the style and soundtrack is just as fantastic as ever.
Microsoft's xCloud has a good chance on beat both Google and Amazon, especially Google and their awful business model for Stadia. Amazon, I don't know what they're doing, so I can't say anything about them.
Streaming as the future though? I hope to God that it isn't. Even though it's nice to play games without downloads and being able to play games at the highest resolutions with less powerful hardware, but being forced to be online at all times to play games is not appealing to me in the slightest. Plus the input lag, compressed image due to streaming, anything that goes wrong with your internet your gameplay suffers along with it, and just for the fact that if the servers shut down your games are gone for good.
I'm fine with having both streaming and consoles/pc hardware as long as I have a choice. Heck, a Netflix-like streaming service for games is great for consumers. But all I hope is that it doesn't turn into streaming-only in the future.
For games like Resident Evil 4 and 5, gyro is like a godsent due to the way the aiming works in those games. I don't mind games having gyro like Turok, but it doesn't feel as natural due to only being able to aim in the middle of the screen. Usually, I just turn them off and use the joystick to aim instead.
@BENDsli Yeah. It's pretty easy to control, at least on VITA. If I have to guess, the Switch version for the most part has the same control scheme.
Third-Person: Shoulder buttons to do physical attacks, B to jump, Y to interact with doors or hear Stranger's thoughts, X to heal up if you have stamina.
First-Person: L/R (or ZL/ZR. Not exactly sure.) button to fire the selected left/right ammunition, d-pad to go into the ammo inventory. A to reload. B, Y, and X still do the same actions as Third-Person.
Of course, there's more buttons on the joycons and I don't know what all buttons do, but when it comes to the VITA version, it's very responsive and controls well.
I bought this game on the VITA. It's a great game and it's very refreshing to the FPS genre. Some things haven't aged all that well (like the stealth, for example. It's usable and helpful, but very barebones) and some difficulty spikes can make the game frustrating to play, but the use of of creatures for ammunition fits perfectly with the world and it does a great job mixing FPS gameplay and platforming. And while the jokes aren't my kind of humor, they're used well and they're usually pretty funny.
I wouldn't say it's worth 30 dollars, since the gameplay can get pretty repetitive and it's cheaper on other platforms. I'd wait on a sale.
Oh woah! Watch out Mario Tennis Aces, no other tennis game can get this visually beautiful on the Switch!
On a serious note, bloody Hell this game looks like it's on the PS2; for it to have performance issues is unacceptable. Graphics don't make a game, and the gameplay seems to be fine, but just... really?
They destroyed their PS4 over one game? Seriously?
To be honest, I don't think it's fair to call this game a BOTW clone. Sure, it's open world and it's colorful, but it seems to do it's own thing in terms of combat and world. Inspired would've been a much better word to describe it.
Bioshock on the go? As somebody who platinumed the first on the PS4, please take my money! If it does happen, anyway.
The Bioshock franchise are the best FPS I've ever played (with the exception of Bioshock 2. Not a bad game, but it being more focused on combat with its mechanics didn't really sit well with me, and didn't care for the story). My only concern is how well the the games will run, and if the Switch ports are going to be last gen or the actual remasters. Again, if it does happen.
There's many great games that were released this decade (Stardew Valley, Mario Odyssey, Untitled Goose Game, Breath of the Wild, etc.), but Hollow Knight stood out the most to me for its unique artstyle and gameplay.
@scully1888 If that's the case, then that makes more sense.
But the thing is, so many of us are getting sick of the practice. We buy the game physically in order to have the game... well, physically. We can just download the game from the E-Shop if we want it digitally, there's just no point going to the store in order to buy a code for a digital-only game. That's what I think, anyway.
Anyway, I might check this game out in the future. 2GBs isn't a big download at all, and it looks like a solid western shooter.
@IPrino To be honest, it really confuses me. This game is 2GBs on Switch (at least, that's what's said on the E-Shop), but yet they didn't even bother to put the game on a card? Just a code in the case?
Honestly, I'm just glad Ubisoft actually gave a damn with these two ports than Assassin's Creed 3 for the Switch.
"Zero sound problems whatsoever (something that was a huge issue with Assassin's Creed III)" Oh my God, thank you! Assassin's Creed III's audio compression was flat out horrendous, so I'm happy to hear that the audio is much better.
@gurtifus I would say: start with the first game to get a taste of what the gameplay is like. It's the simplest in the series and easy to get the hang of.
Honestly when it comes to the Switch, I don't view it as a platform for power and visuals. I view it as something you can take on the go and have a fun time with. It's only when the graphics are so ugly to the point it's hard not to notice is where I have an issue with (Agony on Switch, I'm looking at you), or if the game/port is just straight up bad and/or lazy.
Sure, there are games that looks amazing on the system (like Luigi's Mansion 3 and BOTW), but if I want power and visuals, I can play on my PS4 on my TV.
Yeah, the Switch is less powerful than the PS4 and XBONE, but I don't think that's the point of it. I believe it's meant to be a device you can take anywhere and have a good time on, and hook it up to the TV if you want to play it there for a while.
That said however, this port looks fantastic and a huge step up from the PS3 and XB360 versions. Really does show what the Switch can do, and looks like it runs great!
@Realnoize Yeah, I get what you mean, and honestly I don't agree with the mindset either.
What I trying to say is that I get it by a business point of view since as a business, you need sales in order to keep your company alive. But as a consumer, the point of view is just selfish and greedy. If the game isn't good, nobody's going to buy it, and studios should know that.
But sadly nowadays, if people don't buy the game, the studio thinks people just aren't interested anymore, no matter the quality of the title. That's what I'm saying.
I guess sales and money talk more than actually giving fans what they want.
I get it. If the newest game in a series doesn't sell well, that tells the company/studio that people aren't interested in the IP anymore, and they won't waste anymore money on the series anymore. I get that.
But when fans beg for a remake of a game, and your response is "if this game sells well enough, we'll remake the game you guys want," it just feels a bit wrong to do. You're squeezing as much money as possible from the fans by making them buy the game they didn't really ask for (That being a remake of Banana Blitz, the worst game in the series I've heard), and make them buy the remake of the game they wanted to be remade. And what if that remake doesn't happen because sales talk more than fans apparently?
If people really want the game that bad, shouldn't that mean the game could sell decently? That you would make people happy, and you can have people who haven't played the original (like me) check it out for the first time, which means even more sales? I might be overthinking it, stuff like this just bugs me a bit, and honestly, I don't think it would cost that much money to make.
So, yeah, Sega can screw itself for this practice. :/
Just to let you guys know when it comes to the console versions of the FNAF games, they're a bit rough.
People are reporting lag, compressed audio, bugs, softlocking (pausing while an animation is going, like flipping up the camera), etc. I have FNAF 2 on the Switch due to my interest on how the port turned out, and while I'm surprised it actually controls well with a controller (only issue is that in camera mode, using the joystick is clunky/unresponsive), I've experienced some issues myself (like if you pause the game, it fully recharges your flashlight battery).
I recommend waiting for a patch if you can. They're playable, and it's not a bad way to experience the games if it's the only way you can play them. Otherwise, I would recommend the PC version as of right now.
@BenAV @Chunkboi79 When it comes to the Trilogy on the Switch, the games have aged a bit, I do agree with that. But the biggest issue I have is that Crash feels a bit heavy (on Switch at least), making platforming a bit more difficult.
Not unplayable and it's still fun, but it's recognizable.
If anybody hasn't checked this game out, please do.
I didn't exactly like the first game. Not bad, but just didn't click with me. RoR2 however did. Having it 3D while still having the RoR feel clicked much more, and it's one of the best games I've played this year.
40 dollars? Ehhhh, a bit difficult since RoR2 isn't finished yet, and the physical copies of RoR2 for other platforms are 30 dollars. I would say that the first game included for the Switch copy makes up for it, but the first game is also included in the PS4 and XBONE physical copies.
I say buy the Switch physical if you don't have the first game, want the game physically, and/or want to support the developers. It's a fantastic game, and I myself would love to have a physical copy of it in the future.
@Wool_Sheep Honestly, I also thought the same thing when it comes to the screenshots, before realizing the review says there's a live-action "drama mode."
Feels slightly misleading when it comes to just using the live-action "drama mode" for all the screenshots. They should've shown the game's artwork as well, since this is a review after all.

Not a bad game, but it being more focused on combat with its mechanics didn't really sit well with me, and didn't care for the story). My only concern is how well the the games will run, and if the Switch ports are going to be last gen or the actual remasters. Again, if it does happen.
Re: Review: Gensou SkyDrift - A Mechanically Sound Mario Kart Clone That's Lacking In Longevity
@nimnio To be honest, having a game where it has this hilarious concept but lacks content and the online is dead, this score seems fair.
Sure, I do agree some of their past reviews on anime games were bad, but this review is actually well written.
Re: Poll: Get Your Votes In For Nintendo's Game Of The Decade
The best game has got to be Hollow Knight for me.
There's many great games that were released this decade (Stardew Valley, Mario Odyssey, Untitled Goose Game, Breath of the Wild, etc.), but Hollow Knight stood out the most to me for its unique artstyle and gameplay.
Re: Review: Call Of Juarez: Gunslinger - A Classy Wild West Shooter Which Deserves A Second Shot At Fame
Re: Review: Call Of Juarez: Gunslinger - A Classy Wild West Shooter Which Deserves A Second Shot At Fame
@IPrino To be honest, it really confuses me. This game is 2GBs on Switch (at least, that's what's said on the E-Shop), but yet they didn't even bother to put the game on a card? Just a code in the case?
Re: Official Sonic Movie Merch Is On The Way, Including Build-A-Bear Products
@Eel That would actually be hilarious if that is the case. Lmao
Re: Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath Coming To Switch Early Next Year With Gyro Controls
I've always been interested in this game ever since I've seen the port on VITA.
30 dollars? Ehh... I might wait on a sale or buy the game on other platform for cheaper.
Re: Boyfriend Dungeon Is A Dating Sim Where Your Soulmate Turns Into A Weapon
@Kalmaro I believe you're thinking about Soul Eater.
I love the anime, and the opening kicks so much ass!
Re: Review: Assassin's Creed: The Rebel Collection - A Pair Of Brilliant Seafaring Adventures, And More Besides
Re: Review: Five Nights at Freddy's 3 - Proof Of The Law Of Diminishing Returns
@gurtifus I would say: start with the first game to get a taste of what the gameplay is like. It's the simplest in the series and easy to get the hang of.
Re: Video: Alien Isolation Looks Better On Switch Than PS4, Says Digital Foundry
Re: Buy Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD And Sega Might Remake The Original Games
That makes sense, right?
Re: Buy Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD And Sega Might Remake The Original Games
Re: Review: Five Nights At Freddy's - Accessible Horror That Loses Its Edge Too Quickly
Re: Rumour: Crash Bandicoot Might Be Returning In A Completely "New" Game
@BenAV @Chunkboi79 When it comes to the Trilogy on the Switch, the games have aged a bit, I do agree with that. But the biggest issue I have is that Crash feels a bit heavy (on Switch at least), making platforming a bit more difficult.
Not unplayable and it's still fun, but it's recognizable.
Re: Feature: Hopoo Games On Bringing Risk of Rain 2 To The Switch
Re: Rhythm Game Groove Coaster Wai Wai Party! Receives A Surprise Western Release On Switch
60 dollars? AAA price? Plus more money for the DLCs?
Yeah, no thanks.
Re: Review: Root Letter: Last Answer - A Clumsy, Laughable Stab At A Visual Novel
Re: New Avicii Rhythm Game On Switch Will Donate Some Of The Proceeds To Mental Health Charity
@RazumikhinPG Even if you didn't mention mental health in your comment, what you typed was incredibly distasteful. Not hard to understand.
Not interested in the game? Don't buy it. Simple as that.
