Re: Nintendo Considering "Various Initiatives" And "Further Enhancements" For The Switch Online Service

SpiritGun7

Call me crazy but what if they add new content to older titles? Or create unique titles like NES Remix free for the service but also purchasable. High scores and online leaderboard would be pretty cool.

Or they could go the route of “The Wizard” have an Nintendo Online World Tournament having subscribers demonstrate their mastery of various genres of games. Nintendo could even have different tiers dependent on the console NES, SNES, Genesis, N64 etcetera.

Re: Round Up: Everything Announced In The September 2022 Nintendo Direct - Every Game Reveal And Trailer

SpiritGun7

@wuntyme8 the Switch may not have pushmo going on but the stretchers, good job, part time ufo and Kirby dream buffet sort of cover that realm. I agree though, more quirkiness please! Elite Beat Agents switch, or possibly a crossover with just dance, gotta save the world with your moves, Captain Falcon makes a cameo simply to say his iconic smash taunt then zips away.

I so wish snowboard kids goes to NSO 😅, or Nintendo somehow gets the Patapon games.

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think Of The September 2022 Nintendo Direct?

SpiritGun7

@MS7000 gotcha, you have a bone to pick with the leakers more so than the games being leaked. I can see that, they seem to be all over the place with their “sources and validity”

I mean as far as speculation goes cmon, if they ported Captain toad and Tokyo mirage sessions #FE there is little reason to think WW and TP aren’t already complete. Leakers / YouTubers manipulate this for clicks and views.

Metroid prime seems plausible and makes a lot of sense Skyward Sword was a Wii title that hadnt seen much attention and sold pretty well. MP Trilogy can follow that trend, I’m guessing a year prior to MP4 or so to ramp up into it nintendo releases it.

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think Of The September 2022 Nintendo Direct?

SpiritGun7

@wuntyme8 Miyamoto was probably one of the most disappointing segments if you ask me man. Hey check out this app that’s been out for over a year, oh Pikmin 4 is a thing, oooh and this nice shirt what do you guys think? Oh yeah and mentioning the movie and the theme parks but with no actual news involved just rehashing existing info.

Re: Talking Point: What Did You Think Of The September 2022 Nintendo Direct?

SpiritGun7

@MS7000 how does the Zelda / Metroid rumor acceptance defy logic? Nintendo notoriously holds on to finished games for the sake of keeping the schedule with at least some content. Look at the Fire Emblem leak, it even states the game had been complete for nearly a year. This direct had a lot going on and that doesn’t take into consideration the already listed games such as Persona 5 and Pokémon.
I’m willing to bet Metroid Prime and WW / TP exist and will find their way onto either the switch or it’s successor when the times is right.

Re: Review: Atelier Mysterious Trilogy Deluxe Pack - A Nicely Crafted RPG Marathon

SpiritGun7

@cartunecartune I’d imagine it’s got a lot to do with the genre. Platformers are not and haven’t ever been associated with story telling. RPG’s on the other hand it’s generally a huge part of the experience.
The nature of a review is its opinion based, but as far as implying it’s unfair to compare separate genres on separate expectations I can’t help but disagree with your logic.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Sells Out In Japan Following Pyra and Mythra's Smash Announcement

SpiritGun7

@RadioHedgeFund I truly feel Elma is the main character, monolith just hasn’t ironed out how to make their NPC’s have that impact. I’m playing through it again and it’s clear she’s intended to push the story forward especially since she’s a mandatory party member but the writing doesn’t do her justice.
The design flaws were entirely WiiU related not game breaking. Same premise as Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, they were shoehorned in. If they were to port it over which they really should the fast travel and world map could be easily fixed. As far as the perma death goes I think it’s a 50/50, leveling is considerably easier with skells and allow players to take on normally difficult enemies but the insurance keeps players from just recklessly throwing themselves at enemies in order to fast level.
The system needs refinement no doubt but I can see why they initially came to that conclusion.

Do you think the new monolith project will be announced this year? It’s been 3 years since they began it has me curious and that also seems to be their relative cycle 4 or so between games.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Sells Out In Japan Following Pyra and Mythra's Smash Announcement

SpiritGun7

@RadioHedgeFund I understand where you are coming from and for me it kept me from playing the game for two years. I tried it was introduced to Pyra and was immediately put off by the ridiculousness of nearly every element of her design.
There isn’t really anything writing could do to resolve that mistake which is a shame because her character is ok. Not great or even on the same level of her fellow Xenoblade female characters. Elma of Xenoblade Chronicles X is a hell of a female lead by the way.
With that after playing through definitive edition I had a major Xenoblade itch and turned back to my two year dormant copy of 2. Honestly it was worth it, the game made missteps with character design and tropes can’t and won’t deny that. But combat took a step forward and the music is arguably better than 1. The story holds its own as well, although it’s hard to compete with 1’s premise, 2 does rather well.
Torna actually does an amazing job of learning from a lot of the mistakes of 2 by the way. Yes Mythra is a character but she isn’t really the protagonist. Lora and Jin hold that title and they have a synergy. Hopefully monolith models their future female leads after their better choices, Sharla, Lora, Elma and avoids fan service proportions and tropes, it would be a shame to miss out on installments of the series for such reasons given the rest of it is rather good/great.

Re: Rumour: Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster Won't Be Coming To Switch After All, Says New Report

SpiritGun7

@Ventilator my apologies a coma would’ve saved you time. Subpar sports titles, need for speed and Mass effect.
Once again never doubted ME3 or the studio responsible for porting. Need for speed was the last EA release for the console and as good as you say it was you can also admit EA failed to market it properly.
The subpar ports comment was exclusive to sports titles Madden, FIFA which omitted features were lower quality and weren't tailored in any way to the WiiU hardware.
I’m aware of ME 3’s WiiU exclusive features, I was excited prior to launch then found out I’d have to jump into the third part of a story that’s heavily influenced on decisions, character progression and world building while other consoles were afforded the entire story start to finish on systems with similar specs for the same price tag. Seems like a foolish decision from a billion dollar company to target exclusively players who’ve played through the first two titles, on other consoles might I add, or are banking on newcomers to be comfortable jumping into the final chapter of a three part story.

The point being EA’s approach has been negligent at best. They sabotaged their own sales and blamed the WiiU and Nintendo for their folly. They have since carried that mentality over to the Switch providing less titles than previously uncommitted developers like Bethesda. <- good job Bethesda by the way.
EA’s combination of half baked support and Microtransaction milking has left them relatively dead to me as far as hopes for them, as well as hopes of them releasing titles on Nintendo Hardware. I’d love for them to prove me wrong given the list of titles I’ve already admitted would be more than welcome on the platform. A meaty RPG the caliber of Mass Effect would only boost the already great library and I would pick it up. I’m just not holding my breath given EA’s track record.

Re: Rumour: Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster Won't Be Coming To Switch After All, Says New Report

SpiritGun7

@Ventilator the issue is EA tends to give fans reasons not to buy their games and proceeds to use poor sales as their argument for not putting out more.
As good as the port was or the studio responsible who would buy the last installment of a series on a new console if they entire trilogy was available for the same price on other consoles which is more approachable for newcomers to the series as well as fans.
EA’s approach to WiiU was designed to fail they admitted to not supporting the console within a year. Subpar sports Titles need for speed and mass effect then nada. Of course they didn’t sell well Microsoft and Sony had better version available and continued doing so.

Re: Rumour: Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster Won't Be Coming To Switch After All, Says New Report

SpiritGun7

@Ventilator lol, that memory answers it all. EA doesn’t GAF. I would’ve bought trilogy on WiiU. Instead EA decided in releasing 3 then dropping trilogy on other consoles about the same time, what a slap in the face. Mass Effect would also make too much sense on switch honestly, 2K figured it out, older games get second breath on switch. Dead Space, Mass Effect and Dragon Age would all do well if ported over.

Re: Rumour: New Switch Model Launching Early 2021 Alongside A Strong Game Lineup, According To Reports

SpiritGun7

@0nett I can’t see them announcing a new console, the OG Switch has momentum and install base. From a business perspective it would be foolish.
If these rumors are true it seems likely we will see the Nintendo equivalent to a PS4 pro in terms of a more powerful console that adheres to limitations of its predecessor.
Side note: before the Switch was ever announced Nintendo patented a modular upgrade dock concept. Although it wouldn’t do much of anything for handheld mode it would be an interesting premise to be able to play games in docked mode at substantially better specs and performance.

For the sake of debate let’s look at Nintendo’s handheld consoles instead of home ones. If we were speaking home consoles I’d agree they nearly never had a mid cycle upgrade.
On the other hand their handheld consoles had multiple. The gameboy -> gameboy lite -> gameboy pocket -> Gameboy color
Gameboy advanced -> GBA SP -> GBA Micro
Nintendo DS -> DS Lite -> DSi -> DSi XL
Nintendo 3DS -> 3DS XL -> new 3DS-> new 3DS XL and the 2DS

With that I can see it happening. Is it necessary? No it’s a luxury improvement if anything but doesn’t jade early adopters. At least if they follow their own trend that’s likely what we will get. 4K In docked likely, improved resolution screen and better loading times. Bluetooth? Possibly a software update system spectrum wide to further embellish the new console. IE, UI and themes

Re: Talking Point: Is Nintendo Making As Many Games As It Used To?

SpiritGun7

@westman98 I remember the SMT IV fire emblem deal they had. One of the best bargains Nintendo had. Beat both Awakening and SMT IV.
What are your thoughts regarding crossovers?
I played through both the Xenoblade games recently and came to realization that Monolith and Atlus could make a pretty phenomenal game if they worked together.

Re: Talking Point: Is Nintendo Making As Many Games As It Used To?

SpiritGun7

@sixrings I agree completely, Samus Returns is one of the games in particular I would like to see given another chance. A lot of the 3DS catalog would work as a stop gap relatively simple solution to droughts. Heck OOT and MM would be nice for a modest price.
Personally there are a lot of Wii Games that could use the Xenoblade treatment and would likely flourish on the Switch.
Last Story, Mad World, Kriby’s Epic Yarn, Muramasa, Pandora’s Tower, Sakura Wars, Skyward Sword, No More Heroes 1/2, Punch Out. The list goes on and on.

Re: Talking Point: Is Nintendo Making As Many Games As It Used To?

SpiritGun7

I’d imagine the development window for a 3DS game would be relatively shorter and require a smaller staff than a HD title running on hardware which could support a larger concept.
That being said I wouldn’t mind Nintendo trying more bite size games with the switch. Snipperclips was a blast, why not bring back Sakura Samurai? The Dillon’s games? Pushmo? Or dare I say more inventive new stuff.
Or even giving some 3DS titles an extra chance like Ever Oasis, Samus Returns etcetera.
Are the Labo games being counted towards this? How does that one work?

Re: Poll: Did The Nintendo Direct Mini: Partners Showcase Meet Your Expectations?

SpiritGun7

Nocturne was left field and I’m absolutely stoked. They labeled the direct as brief and third party focused, encompassing previously announced games. Nocturne wasn’t announced prior to that to my knowledge so I can easily say I’m impressed. SMTV finally got some love and a release date.
Aside from WWE everything shown looked good. Mini’s are like snacks maybe we aren’t feasting but I enjoy a bag of chips now and again.

Re: Random: Miss Nintendo Directs? Check Out This Crowd-Pleasing 'Nontendo Direct' Presentation

SpiritGun7

@TG16_IS_BAE the context in regards to Paper Mario and Apex was that rather than announcing them the way they did they could’ve used them to bolster their list of announcements for a direct.
I’m fully aware how pointless announcing a game that’s already unveiled is, particularly when it’s a port/incredibly close to launch.

It’s been pretty scarce, last legitimate direct was September. Unless you count Mini’s or game specific ones.
I’ll remain patient but the point of this article is to brew up conversation, speculation and have a little lighthearted fun.

Side note what’s the deal with SMT V? have you heard or seen anything?

Re: Random: Miss Nintendo Directs? Check Out This Crowd-Pleasing 'Nontendo Direct' Presentation

SpiritGun7

@Nomad I could roll with that, sounds pretty awesome.

For smash bros I’m genuinely surprised Rayman has no representation. Scorpion from MK would be pretty crazy as well. Idk the options are endless really.
The switch seems to be a haven for gems of yesteryear so if I were to add anything it would be some ports of forgotten greats.
Muramasa
Baten Kaitos
Paper Mario TTYD / 64
Viewtiful Joe
Sakura Wars
Persona 3/4
Battalion Wars
SMT collection ideally (Nocturne if only one)
THE SIMPSONS ARCADE GAME
Dear god make it so

Oh and ya know a AAA title too, one that no one expects just because it’s Nintendo. Mario has been awfully quiet since odyssey.

Re: Random: Miss Nintendo Directs? Check Out This Crowd-Pleasing 'Nontendo Direct' Presentation

SpiritGun7

@Nomad
I can totally see that happening. That’s why September seems like a solid bet for when they would go for their home run direct.
I could only imagine what they are sitting on though.
Their was a rumor months ago about some type of new IP racer that is unique to MK that starred pig characters I believe. Idk how
much validity that rumor has but given Nintendo’s track record with new IP’s lately I’d bet it turns out good. Splatoon, Arms, Ring-Fit
Super Metroid Remade would be absolutely awesome. I’d love Fusion as well so long as we are on the topic.
Monolith Soft reportedly has been hiring for a new project as of 2018 I believe. A medieval sort of setting I think.

Heck I’d be cool with a Nintendo online overhaul. GameCube, N64 GBA, GB etcetera.

All I know is good old Nintendo’s got the ammo to blow us away. Now it’s just the waiting game.

Kirby Superstar Remake?

What would be your ideal direct? Like absolutely historic announcement one?

Re: Random: Miss Nintendo Directs? Check Out This Crowd-Pleasing 'Nontendo Direct' Presentation

SpiritGun7

@Nomad
I have similar theories, but like the majority of us, anticipation is built up to max capacity.
So many games on the horizon. Both confirmed and heavily rumored.
Shin Megami Tensei V
Bayonetta 3
BOTW 2
Metroid Prime 4

The grape vine hinting at Metroid, Mario and Zelda collections, Pikmin 4.

And of course Nintendo’s trademarked left field new titles that no one sees coming.

As far as that other guy is concerned I ignored him. He doesn’t seem to enjoy the company of other fans and let alone discuss thoughts. Just low key trash talk and what not.

I appreciate your reply Nomad, I can see Nintendo waiting for new console hype to subside. If anything that would land us at September for a big direct. Hell of a wait but I’m sure by then it would be well worth it. Either way it’s an excellent year in gaming for fans in general and I’m hoping the competition really works in our favor delivering absolutely awesome titles.
