I downloaded this finally and absolutely love it. I played the DS version a bit but never beat it. I think it was a good version but playing it on a TV and with better controls is awesome. Super Mario Sunshine was the first 3D Mario game I played....am looking forward to spending just as much time with this one....trying to find more stars...
@ Bahamut ZERO - I agree that Dragon Warrior 1 - 3 are excellent candidates for the VC. For some reason, Squenix seems to be resisting doing that because the VC has been around for awhile. I'll get them for sure, though, even though I've beaten 1 and 2 many times and 3 once. Good stuff....
Okay, since folks are sharing RPG favorites, and that is one of my favorite genres, I'll go ahead and put mine out there. Roughly in order: 1) Dragon Warrior VII 2) Tales of Symphonia 3) Dragon Warrior II 4) Shadowhearts 2 5) Final Fantasy X 6) Shining Force (haven't played 2 yet) 7) Shadowhearts 8) Skies of Arcadia 9) Jade Cocoon 2
Number 10 is a multiple way tie. There's a bunch of RPG's that are in process for me and others that I haven't gotten to (or finished) that I want to. I don't get to play as much as I'd like to but you know how it is.....
@Cally - the first one was my favorite too. I don't know if it's because it was the first of the 'trilogy' that I played. But if I were to replay one starting today it would be that one for sure...
I absolutely loved the Metroid Prime games. I don't know where they will go with the series next (though I thought that 3 was supposed to be the last 'Prime' Metroid game....could be mistaken). But I think that a 3d third person Metroid could be really amazing if they could pull of the controls.....and the camera.....
if you download it for free the publisher is losing money in the form of license revenues. They don't lose inventory costs, but it's still a loss.
I am all about obscure games being released. I don't think I'll download this one but it does give me some more hope that other obscure titles I want may get released....
I would love to play Space Harrier again...I have at least half a dozen other games I want to download though not to mention ones I am still working on beating that I already have. If this makes it's way to the US it'll be on my wanted list
both great games - I want them both! These past few weeks have been wonderful!!! I hope it stays that way, but then I'll never catch up. I guess I won't anyway but I enjoy trying
I'm all over Space Harrier when it comes. For the SMS, I would also like to see Rastan, Zillion, and Shinobi....hey, why not Double Dragon also? But Space Harrier would be a fantastic next SMS game!!!
I shouldn't admit this here but I am not sure if I've ever played MM2. If I did, it was very little. I am looking forward to thoroughly enjoying this for my first time!!! Will download it sometime soon...
3 has the best Dracula fight of the NES trilogy IMHO .... I just love this game. I had beat it with each of the three companions but never did beat it with only Trevor Belmont. I should give that a shot once I have beat it again once or twice....
@alpo - be compassionate about it. It is never cool to vent like that. Having a degree doesn't add to your rights to treat others disrespectfully either (I have an accounting MBA too so I have some legitimate perspective when I say that). I realize it's not my place to tell you what to do and I don't mean to....it's just advice. If you don't follow it at least consider it.
As far as the games, I may get Final Soldier someday but I have other shooters to beat first . Cho Aniki would come even later than that but at the rate I beat shooters I bet it'll be on a different console...
I am excited to play SMRPG. My step-son has downloaded it but I haven't played it yet personally...am wanting to beat Breath of Fire II first. I am at the last dungeon so it shouldn't be too long. As much as I want to play Ys books 1 & 2, I think I'll end up playing SMRPG first. That is in part because it is already downloaded but also in part because of its acclaim... Exciting stuff!!!
I think the existence of the safety screen was just an example of Nintendo's mindfulness of safety concerns. Not to put words in anyone's mouth but that was what I understood...
am interested in Final Soldier but not in Cho Aniki. I am leaning towards playing others in the series before Final Soldier (have only beat Soldier Blade), but I'm still glad it's coming

Re: Virtual Console Reviews - Best of 2008
@beastman93 - I love Tales of Symphonia. It's one of my most favorite games ever. I don't know that I would call it #1, but it's up there. Good list
Oh, and happy new years y'all!!!
Re: Virtual Console Reviews - Best of 2008
I have 3 of these already and was already planning on getting the other two. Cool! Can't wait to see what we'll get next year
Re: Zoda's Revenge: StarTropics II
I loved the first one and want to play this one too - I need to knock out some of my backlog vc games first, though.
Re: USA VC Update: Phantasy Star IV
@Cally - the first one was my favorite too. I don't know if it's because it was the first of the 'trilogy' that I played. But if I were to replay one starting today it would be that one for sure...

Re: Nobunaga's Ambition
I remember this game being super hard but maybe I was just too young at the time to be any good at it...I had played the NES one, though.
I'll probably grab this when it comes out.
Re: USA VC Update: Boogerman
Cool....Nobunaga's Ambition!

Re: Hori Announces New Classic Controller For Japan
I really liked the GC controller. May actually get this to have a second vc controller option...
Re: USA VC Update: Space Harrier
I actually want this game, but it is mostly for nostalgia purposes. There is much better stuff out there to play than this, though.
Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - November 2008
I didn't even know there was a SMS Sonic 2. How awesome - I want it!!!
Re: Corbie's Top 20 Virtual Console Releases - Part 2
great list...all worthy selections in my opinion. I've played most of them but the very few I haven't were pretty high on my list of future downloads.
Re: R-Type
@AJL: I can get to 7 now, but I think I'm a long way away from beating it still...
Re: USA VC Releases: Gradius II and Digital Champ
I really want Gradius 2 but it'll have to wait for a little while...
Re: A Boy and His Blob: Trouble on Blobolonia
This looks like a David Crane game Anyway, I'll probably get it when it comes out but it'll be a long time before I beat it if I ever do, I'm sure....

Re: The DSi – One Step Closer to a Portable Virtual Console?
I upgraded to a DS Lite but mostly because my original DS got jacked by someone. But I had to get a new one so I could play Dragon Quest IV!!
Anyway, this gadget sounds interesting. I'll stay tuned!
Re: Art Style: ORBIENT
Sounds good - thanks for the ign link, Juampi!
Re: TurboGrafx-16 Releases - October
I am definitely interested in Gradius II even though I have yet to beat the first one.

Re: Blazing Lazers
Is this game harder than Soldier Blade? I am interested in playing it either way, but was just curious...
Re: PEGI and ESRB Update: Last Ninja 3, Enduro Racer and More
