Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Cloud Save Support Coming "Sometime In The Future"

@Wazeddie22 well I feel silly, didn’t realize how old this article even was! But I hope you enjoy it, I’m super excited for the game, I love the series! I’m picky with sim games, mostly because I get stressed with the length of days, but I loved AC because it’s slow and relaxing. I do love Stardew too but the game charmed me so much I didn’t even care about the limited hours in a day. Either way, hope you get many enjoyable hours out of this game! Can’t wait for it!!!

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Wanted Sora In Smash Bros. Ultimate, But Got Rejected By Disney

ShadJV

@GrailUK assuming this is true, I have some good guesses as to why they would turn Nintendo down. For one, they have control issues and a cameo puts Nintendo in control of their IPs. The series has suffered in recent years due to their constrictions. Two, Nintendo is partnering for their theme park with Universal Studio - the audacity of them (at least in Disney’s eyes). Three, similarly Nintendo isn’t using Disney for their upcoming Mario film. Four, to Disney all other media companies are competitors. Five, remember when Nintendo refused to let Mario into the Wreck-It-Ralph films? I’m sure Disney remembers.

Disney hasn’t seemed on friendly terms with Nintendo in recent years and they’ve gotten quite greedy with their properties. Heck, it could be as simple as them wanting a huge compensation for the rights and Nintendo being unwilling to shell out that much for one character. I always felt if there was anything keeping Sora out of the game, it would be Disney.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Wanted Sora In Smash Bros. Ultimate, But Got Rejected By Disney

While I’ll take this with a grain of salt... it sounds plausible. Disney has been responsible for a lot of bad choices with the series in recent years (though Nomura hasn’t helped either), and they are very controlling with their IPs. If anyone would turn Nintendo down, it would be Disney. It’s a wonder we still even get KH games.

I’m definitely saddened by this possibility though. Sora and Geno were the last two characters I really care about remotely being added to Smash, and both are unlikely at this point. Anyone else I’d want in the game is already there. Ah well, probably about time to let that wish go.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Cloud Save Support Coming "Sometime In The Future"

@Wazeddie22 I mean AC and Stardew are both sim games but that’s about where the similarities end. For one, Stardew has goals, a story, and character development, while AC is just, “Do whatever you want”. Stardew has character bonding while AC villagers treat you identical whether it’s your first day around them or your 100th day. AC is real time while Stardew uses an in game clock. Stardew is mostly about farming and foraging, with some combat, while AC is about fishing, bug catching, gardening, decorating, etc etc (it’s pretty varied). Overall, AC is just more relaxed and less goal oriented than Stardew. I recommend both but for ENTIRELY different reasons and don’t think someone who enjoys one will necessarily enjoy the other - I have friends who love one of them and HATE the other. They’re really that different.

Re: Review: The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics - Solid But Unspectacular Tactical Action

ShadJV

@C-Chakra no problem! Only get it if you think you’ll like it. I haven’t seen many high review scores, so it might not be a good example of the genre - I’m only a few chapters in so I can’t judge it much but I’ve enjoyed it so far. Tactics games are a fairly niche genre though, hence why there isn’t a lot of them. Some of the best examples of the genre are the Final Fantasy Tactics games, which I believe started the genre. So far the game seems pretty basic for the genre. It’s also worth knowing gameplay is fairly slow in these kinds of games, as each individual unit gets a turn (depending on their speed), unlike turn based strategy games where you take your entire turn at once. Not everyone likes this type of game, so only take the risk if you really want it. Or wait for a sale.

Re: Review: The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics - Solid But Unspectacular Tactical Action

ShadJV

@C-Chakra just a heads up, Wargroove isn’t in the tactics genre, it’s a turned based strategy game. Tactics games are a subgenre if RPGs, incorporating level up mechanics and a class system into a 3D grid map. Many turn based strategy games also use grids, but that’s where similarities end. Turn based strategy games usually treat units as expendable and lack any sort of unit progression. Tactic games focus on a smaller party of characters that increase their strength and abilities over time. And usually utilize 3D (the height of units can affect what they can hit, accuracy, and power).

Re: Yacht Club Happy To Continue Making Shovel Knight Games "Forever And Ever"

ShadJV

I’m glad the IP had a future, as it’s one of my fav indie games. But I also hope they branch out a bit. Even if they can cover any genre with the franchise, it’d be great if they do some unrelated games now and then.

Also, considering Dig has a whole new slew of knights... I hope they do expand on the existing knights backstories. The ones that didn’t have campaigns. I’m quite interested in the story behind Propeller Knight’s rose, and Polar Knight has to have an interesting past. Given the amount of time they spent on this entry, I’m not going to ask for campaigns for every character in the base game... but I wouldn’t mind hearing their stories eventually.

Heck, at the very least, please add online play to Showdown! I absolutely love the multiplayer in that and want to play it against more people!

Re: Nintendo Shares More Info About The Multiplayer In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

ShadJV

@Torakaka a lot of those Amiibos are hard to find at starts now and can get pricey to try to get a hold of. So no, I think the game shouldn’t have any of that Amiibo support, it’s hardly fair to those that don’t have the Amiibos. Once again, it’s fine for the games they were originally advertised for, but finding a lot of these Amiibos on shelves are near impossible now.

Honesty, though, I’d be surprised if they do have Amiibo support. Super Mario Maker 2 dropped the Amiibo support that the predecessor had. They’re slowly getting phased out. I wouldn’t have had an issue with them if the content was available as DLC (for a lower price since you’re not getting the figurine), but I always hated how they implemented their Toys to Life line. Way too many of them and you often couldn’t know which would be worthwhile investments.

Re: Nintendo Shares More Information About The Multiplayer In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

ShadJV

My understanding then is you cannot share a copy of the game between two consoles to have two islands? They careful say, “One Nintendo Switch and one copy of the game is required for each unique island.” To me that implies if you have two Switches and one copy of the game, you cannot make a new island? Which... doesn’t make sense to me, the island data is surely saved to the console, does the game somehow lock itself to one console? You can’t share the game with friends or family so they can have a separate island on their Switch? And what does that even mean for trading the game in?

I’m sorry but their wording really baffles me.

Re: Nintendo Switch SNES Controllers Are Back In Stock In North America

ShadJV

@danielman9 yeah I never thought that we’d get GameCube games. At that point you’re reaching games Nintendo can easily remake individually and sell for full price. N64 was already pushing that. Yeah, it’d be cool to have access to that library, but I would never hold my breath for it. That’s approaching the sort of collection PlayStation Now has and that’s $60 a year for JUST those games. If Nintendo was going to make the GameCube library accessible on Switch, that’s make more sense to be an entirely different subscription service. That would be a lot of meaty content.

Re: Random: The Mario Kart Series Now Features Nine Forms Of Princess Peach

ShadJV

@MrBlacky as I said, they have different signature items and different favored courses. Regular Peach is as different from Kimono Peach as Mario is. They’re all treated as entirely different characters for the purpose of the game. If you treat the different versions of Peach the same, you may as well treat every character the same, because the differences between characters are simply signature item and favored courses. Which the latter is incredibly important to actually do well - you can come in last and get 5 stars while you can come in first and get 1 star. The game isn’t about winning the race, it’s about collecting the most points, and the most important factor there is characters. Which every Peach is treated as a separate character.

If you want to get enough points on many courses, you need the favored characters. And each Peach favors different courses.

Re: Random: The Mario Kart Series Now Features Nine Forms Of Princess Peach

ShadJV

@MrBlacky well there’s no real stats in the game. Some of the different forms do have different signature items (the only real difference between characters). But the bigger thing is every challenge has different “best” characters (ranging from 2-4), and to get high scores (to win stars and cups), you need one of those characters. In many cases regular Peach will not be there but another form might. You certainly don’t NEED every character, but the harder challenges you need the best characters for that challenge to get high enough scores, and that includes these alternate forms.

Re: Reminder: Smash Bros. Ultimate's Second Fighters Pass Can Be Purchased From The eShop

ShadJV

@YoshiAngemon what? Competitive players are a small minority of the Smash Bros market and they definitely are getting the pass, no one here who says they will wait to get characters they want are likely competing in any tournaments. You’re responding to the wrong people. Tournament players always get the passes because they have to at least practice against those characters.

Re: Reminder: Smash Bros. Ultimate's Second Fighters Pass Can Be Purchased From The eShop

ShadJV

@YoshiAngemon the Ancient Armor is a Mii Costume - the bonus isn’t for BotW. It will certainly be purchasable separately later on, but honestly a majority of players don’t care about collecting the DLC Mii costumes. And true, buying all 6 characters individually will likely cost more, but the people holding out probably won’t get all 6, they’re the pickier players that already only cared about one or two characters in the first pack. The odds of them wanting all 6 are low enough that’s it’s worth the money saved by not preordering the pass.

Re: Reminder: Make Sure To Claim Your Gigantamax Meowth In Pokémon Sword And Shield Today

ShadJV

@AlexSora89 nah, TMs are still in the game and unbreakable. TRs are entirely new and seem to sorta take the place of move tutors (eliminating the need for grinding resources for them). TRs are mostly moves a Pokémon wouldn’t usually learn in the past and include have stuff like Darkest Lariat (Incineroar’s signature move) and Pollen Puff (Ribombee’s signature move) which now can be taught to more Pokemon. There’s 100 TRs on top of the 100 TMs. And getting TRs are easy, I have literally hundreds and most have just come naturally. The two ways you get them 1) doing raids. Post game you’re likely grinding raids anyways for Pokémon with near perfect IVs and egg moves along with EXP candies (which make leveling up your competitive team take literally seconds). TRs are the best way to incentivize people help you with your raids that might be Pokemon they don’t want. You get around 3 TRs for each Raid in the same typing as the Pokémon you fought (so if you need a grass TR, just fight some grass raids). And to make it even easier, there’s 8(?) vendors in the Wild Area who sell a rotating selection of TRs using a special currency you make doing raids (this currency has only 3 uses and the biggest one you’d use it on is TRs). Getting a TR is way easier than TMs ever were and you likely end up with a surplus. I hardly mind that they’re consumable at this point, as I’ve never had to use my last TR of any one move, I have multiple of nearly every TR in the game and only have had to look for specific TRs a couple times (which didn’t take long).

Re: Random: Record-Breaking Speedrun Trick Makes Star Fox's Arwings Spawn In Zelda: Ocarina Of Time

ShadJV

I wish this didn’t devolve into arguments on whether this constitutes as a speedrun (I think even if the speedrunning community, those that think it shouldn’t be a separate category entirely are a minority).

Because really, the cool thing here is spawning the arwings. That was hilarious as he was trying to escape them and they just kept coming! I really wish it was possible to accidentally stumble upon this glitch through normal play!

Re: Sega Set To Reveal "Unannounced Game" At This Year's Taipei Game Show

ShadJV

@retro_player_22 that’d certainly be great for fans of the game. I unfortunately never played it (no good reason, just never got around to it) so I lack any really opinion one way or another - depending on when it would release, I would give it a go. Ideally we all get what we want though. I just feel they’ve been teasing us with a lot of Sonic Adventure references this past year on their social media and do not appreciate the teases unless they’re actually going to give us something, ya know? :-/
