@SwitchForce where did you read this? You can play steam games offline. It has an offline mode. Why would the deck be any different? We just moved and didn't have Internet for a few days and my son was playing games on steam. You only have to be online to buy and download them. Unless they are games that require an always online connection. Plus don't forget you can put any os on this. Windows with gamepass should be doable. And then all the emulators are going to make this machine a gaming monster. But I really don't think it will take many sales off the switch, its just another gaming option out there, which is always a good thing. In my opinion.

As someone who has a big stream library im very interested in this. Really good specs and I like the design. Don't really see it as a big competitor to the switch, as Nintendo has their brand and software which is the main seller of the switch. But I do think it will sell well. Not 100 million well, but if they sell 10 million I think they'll call it a success.

@StuTwo readily available where? Yes you can buy a series s at quite a few retailers, but the series X and ps5 sell out in seconds. Unless you mean ebay.

@tntswitchfan68 I completely agree with you about the vita, it was a great system(though not as versatile or clever as the switch) and they just never really supported it. I know a lot of fans that purchased one feel very let down by Sony abandoning it.
Sony haven't really been that strong in Japan since the ps2(21 million). The ps3 sold half that. Then the ps4 less still.
And you only have to look at the best selling consoles of all time in Japan. 4 out of the top 5 are handhelds. I think they know they can't compete with Nintendo in their home country so their going where the money is for them.

@tntswitchfan68 resident evil village sold 4 million copies in 20 days WW, a big majority of those on a Sony platform. Im sure capcom are very happy with Sony.

@michellelynn0976 this FF is a free upgrade if you own the ps4 version, which I would imagine a lot of ps5 owners do. Even better if you don't, just buy a used ps4 copy from eBay and then get the upgrade.

Out of 116 million ps4 sales only 9 million were in Japan.
Switch 80 million sales, 20 million in Japan.
Sony are not ignoring Japan, they just don't prioritise it. But I read yesterday that the ps5 is selling quicker than the ps4 did in Japan and that's during these difficult times.

Nintendo 231 million.
I think Sony will be fine with their current strategy. After all Playstation just posted their highest revenue in the history of the company. Not bad for a failing system eh.

@tntswitchfan68 who said Sony ever had Japan? The last R&C game sold 27k in 2016 when there were 4 million ps4s in Japan. It came 3rd then too. The whole rest of the chart was 3ds and a couple of wiiu games! Sony know Japan is Nintendo land, they make their money in the west where they do very well so I really don't think they will be bothered by these sales at all.
Japan is the land of the hand held, has been for years.
Capcom will still make games for Sony for years, in UK 73%of resident evil village sales was on a Sony platform. And a failing platform? 🤪 You do make me laugh.

@Octane 65% of PlayStation sales are now digital according to Sony. Plus Japan has always been Nintendo land. The last R&C game came out in 2016 when there was around 4 million ps4s and that only sold 27k copies and came 3rd. The whole rest of the chart was manly 3ds and wiiu. Sony haven't been big in Japan for many years, they make their money in the west.

@Dezzy I think you'll find every single ps5 delivered to Japan is sold immediately. They just aren't prioritising Japan anymore as their main players are the west.

@ATaco I do that with nearly all the games I buy including Nintendo games. Your right, the value of something is subjective. I paid £50 for kirby and my 7 year old beat it in less than 5 hours. Luigis mansion 3 (brilliant game) 16 hours. Even 3d world with bowsers fury can be beat in under 10-12 hours. The last 2 are worth the money for what they give you, fun and enjoyment. Same with R&C, you can see the love and man hours that went into making it such an amazing game that for me personally makes its price tag worth it.

Was very underwhelmed, apart from Mario +rabbids 2 which I already knew about and will buy day one, not much in this one for me. I'm happy for people that enjoyed it though. But where is Bayonetta? Surely they have some game play footage by now?
Least I've got Mario golf too look forward to soon and I'm sure all the games from MS and Sony will keep me busy the rest of this year.

@tntswitchfan68 gameplay is amazing and fun, that's a given in a R&C game. Great story too. Yes it's Thursday for the week before on famtisu which is what this site uses, so since it released last Friday we will know the numbers soon. Not that it makes any difference what numbers it does.
Good to hear Garage is selling well, love it when Nintendo do stuff outside the box. Both my boys want it.

@tntswitchfan68 we will see this Friday when they release the sales for the past week. You say its not a bad game, I take it you've played it then? Seen it running in motion on a TV with enemies everywhere, particle effects, ray tracing, amazing 3d audio that changes instantly when use a rift to get behind an enemy, screen packed with assets and background action and looking like a pixar movie? All whilst not dropping a frame! The cost is purely subjective, 12 to 16 hours of very high quality is worth every penny to me but hey you do you.
Will keep me busy until Mario golf drops anyway.

Anyway great to see R&C doing well, it's an amazing game and probably the first that's looked truly next gen. Loving it so far, really great fun.

Looks great. Day one for me and my youngest boy, he loves the first one. Great gameplay and a great sense of humour.

Loved Mario + rabbids, such a clever and tactical game wrapped in a fun package. Really hoping for a sequel. Maybe expand it and add some of their other IP's into the mix.

Plus the ps5 will play them via back compat so they are for that system too. Why would indie developers waste their time when they wouldn't use or need the power of the hardware? The pathless, bugsnax, oddworld, kena Bridge of spirits, Jett, stray, disco elysium, operation tango, chicory, Nour, where the heart leads, puzzling places, heavenly bodies all coming to ps5 this year. Seems like Sony are embracing indies too!
I hold Sony to the same Standard as I do Nintendo. Shame others on here don't seem to be able to.

@michellelynn0976 I'm not saying they haven't, but so have Nintendo. I do criticise Sony on push Square, what I don't do is constantly try and put Nintendo into the argument in some weird deflection. Nintendo are hardly ever mentioned on there, and If they are it's in a good light. Both companies have many faults. I've seen a change in Nintendo this last few years that I don't like, trying to squeeze as much money out of their loyal fan base as possible.
Anyway all this is getting pretty pointless, you have your opinions and I have mine.
Oh and I just looked, out of the 21 games on the last Nintendo indie direct, 14 possibly 15 are either already on ps4 or coming to it. All those indie developers must have missed the memo about the evil Sony empire!

@michellelynn0976 they have several indie games coming out this year. They're sponsoring an indie development hub in Japan. They just released a video just about indies.
I have no problem people criticising Sony. And if I was on push Square and people were talking rubbish about Nintendo I world call them out.
So they sensor a few games. Nintendo have been sensoring people on YouTube and striking their videos for years.
I have been positive about Nintendo lots of times. I love some of their IPs, some of the best games ever made. I just don't put my head in the sand and say nothing bad about one company whilst constantly going on about another.

I don't care about sonys bad behaviour, couldn't care less. I just want to play their games. I think MS are a horrible company but as long as they keep making gamepass great value I don't care.

I go on this site because I'm a fan of Nintendos games, I like to read about what's happening with them. I think I've given Nintendo enough of my money over the many years I've been gaming to have an opinion.

Ha ha, your the one missing. Just the other day there was an article criticising Sony and the believe in generations fiasco, and most were not happy. A lot voted they were lied too. Forums all over the Internet were full of angry Sony fans. Many were not happy about what happened to Sony Japan studios. And about how games that were on ps now then coming to psplus.
People on push Square are very critical of some of the things Sony do. You obviously don't see it because your on this site. What you don't see on push Square is people putting down Nintendo, or mentioning them at all really. Not like on here where people like yourself constantly feel the need to attack Sony with very weak arguments, sometimes being completely out of context to the article. Just the other day someone called you out why you were going on a Sony rant from an article that didn't even mention them. I do find it quite amusing why you care so much what Sony does? You obviously don't like them. You don't like their games. You don't like their hardware. So why do you give a dam how they conduct themselves? Just enjoy being a Nintendo fan boy and let Sony self destruct. @tntswitchfan68 I criticise Sony when they do things wrong, as do most fans. Again you should look at push Square, there are a lot of unhappy people after the whole "we believe in generations" fiasco. Quite a few forums are full of fans not happy with the way Sony communicate with the players and some of the decisions they are making.
But on Nintendo life you get loads of people who think the sun shines out of Nintendos butt. Any sort of negativity is soon shot down. And I find it funny how you constantly go on and on about how amazing Nintendo is and how they have the bestest games ever! And that the ps5 has none, which is complete rubbish. Your the fan boy. Your the one constantly attacking Sony every chance you get, even when the article has nothing to do with them. I really don't care for Sony as a company, I just love the games they produce and the quality. If you honestly think that the last god of War or Ghost of tsushima (my game of the year) are glorified movies then 🤷, both had some of the best game play of the last generation.
And that's not proof HUGE numbers are failing, that's just a very small percentage that you get with any new product. 20 plus million controllers, where are the stories of HUGE numbers drifting? Its common sense any new controller that's using the same sticks as all the rest will have drift issues. I've took apart my joy cons, and they have a major design flaw. But Nintendo doesn't care, they just keep pumping out shiny new controllers and people get all excited and must have them. Be interesting to see if the EU commission launches the investigation they are deciding on. That after 4 years Nintendo are still selling a known faulty product. Let's see you call out Nintendo? Did you call out Nintendo when they put a quality of life improvement on the soon to release zelda game behind a £25 pay wall? You call them out when they starting charging for online when they were using pathetic and slow servers? You call them out for some very basic and lazy ports and then charging full price for? Sometimes for more than they originally sold for? This at a time when MS are boosting a lot of old games for free? How they are getting more and more greedy and anticonsumer, their mobile games having gold passes that are more than the online services and packed with mircotransations? The infamous 2015 creators program and the back lash they received? The update that added Google Analytics integration into the eshop that would collect user data, which Nintendo remained silent about? Its on by default in the US.
Both companies are greedy, both companies have faults. But at the end of the day it's just gaming, you buy what you like and play what you like. Least we get choice.

@tntswitchfan68 Breaking consoles and drifting at a huge rate? How huge? Proof? Probably 10 million in the wild now, surely if its in the hundreds of thousands there should be evidence? And about 20 million controllers! And I'm not talking about a few thousand, that's expected with the launch of a new product.
I agree on the sticks they are all using, they are not designed very well and the industry needs to look into having a much more durable system and better standards. Hell my mate went through 3 xbox elite controllers that just kept falling apart and they are not cheap.
Anyway I'm sure we will have another discussion another time in the future. You obviously love Nintendo and have some weird hate for Sony. Me, I'm just going to enjoy whatever future games come out on all three systems. Let's hope E3 gives us some good surprises.

@tntswitchfan68 I never had one ps4 controller break or drift. I've had to repair two joy cons already and another is now starting to drift. We'll see on the dualsense, both mine are perfect at the moment. Of course the pc version is better than the ps4 game, much much better hardware. But it came out years after it came out on ps4. They've just given it away for free to any ps4 owner, pc has to pay full price! I'm glad pc gamers get to play these great games a few years after they release, gets the brand out there.
I think you must live in a bubble. On push Square the comments are full of fans/ players criticising Sony and their practice's. A hell of a lot more than I see on this site. They do a lot of things wrong and do get called out for it, especially by the gaming media.
But at the end of the day I don't care what any of the 3 billion dollar companies do(they all only care about the bottom line, they are not your friend). I have no loyalty to any of them, I just want to play the best games whichever system they release on. And doesn't matter how much you try and deny it, some of the best games ever made in the last 10 years have been on the PlayStation and switch.

@tntswitchfan68 who cares about returns? I buy nearly all my games physical and part ex when finished. That's your best, returns? Makes me laugh when you just think that next gen games are going to be about resolution and frame rates. It's going to be about assets on screen, better AI, more destruction, world's that feel more alive and packed (watch the R&C city play through, a world dense with life). The IO through put of the ps5 is insane, it can put 2GB into memory from the ssd in 0.27 seconds. It doesn't have to render what's behind you until you turn. That means they can make games and worlds that were impossible before. Developers are saying they are going to be able to make games on the series x and ps5 that they could only dream of. Exciting times to be a gamer.
I love my switch and some of the games but you seem to think Sony are the only bad guys when Nintendo have some very crappy practices themselves. Full price for bare minimum ports. Porting a game and then putting a quality of life feature behind a pay wall (amibo). Striking down loads of YouTube content creators over the years. Charging for a basic and very slow online. Selling a faulty product like the joy cons for over 4 years, basically admitting they are defective and still selling them anyway.

@tntswitchfan68 yes, yes it was worth every penny. And if the games are as good quality as returnal and what R&C looks like it's going to be, I'll quite happily pay £70. And the games keep coming out supporting the dualsense and its features(which nearly every 3rd party game has done so far). The controller alone was worth the upgrade.
Now my series x on the other hand, that was not worth the money so far. Should have stuck with my one x until they actually had some games that can use it.

@tntswitchfan68 yes most of it is complete shovelware. A few classics but they haven't aged well for the most part. It's £31 for a family so they can all play online like you get with plus. Sony are now using Microsoft azure cloud services, so er.... the same speeds! And crash monthly? Bless you your getting desperate now.
You want to talk about slow, I remember how excited my boys were to play Mario maker 2 online against other people. Was an absolute slide show. I had to tell them Nintendo use a system called NEX that is 20 years old and is basically slow. I know they are going to another system this year, finally.
Oh and let's not forget the psplus collection you get with plus for the ps5, 20 great games from the ps4 era. More value!

@tntswitchfan68 £31 for family online. A 100 games that are mostly shovelware. You play for a few minutes and never again. Crap discounts and oh wow, game trials! It's pathetic! An absolute joke of a service.
I've never paid more than £36 for plus. So far this year I've had 18 games, proper games like Control AE, tomb raider, FF 7 remake, Destruction Allstars, days gone, maneater(how much on switch? ) concrete genie, battlefield 5, wreckfest, and brand new games like Oddworld, operation tango and the virtua fighter 5 remake. That's value. Oh and discounts too.

@tntswitchfan68 MM played better on ps5, as do most of the ps4 games. The switch launched with a wii u game as its big seller, and played almost identical! Demon Souls, a 92 on metacritic with 99 reviews! Mmmmm 🤔 what a terrible game. And with returnal, why would I lie? I've had 1 bug, I've read some people get them and some don't. Doesn't stop the fact that it's is one of the most immersive games ever made. Especially with the dualsense and 3d audio.

@tntswitchfan68 returnal 23 hours played and only one tiny bug. Demon Souls massively rated(though not my style of game). Sackboy was brilliant, as was spiderman MM. Astro a great time. Tons of 3rd party games plus all the ps plus games.

@Giygas_95 yeah give it to Panic Button to port them over and your right, would run great. Would be a day one buy, but we're probably just dreaming. Some of these companies don't seem to want to make easy money.

@Giygas_95 a splinter cell collection would be awesome on the switch. Perfectly paced game to play on the go and I reckon it would sell really well.

@MS7000 he has to mention Sony in a negative light whenever possible! I think it's how he sleeps at night. Apparently its impossible to like more than one console manufacturer!
Me personally, I'm really hoping for Mario and rabbids 2 to be announced. Would be a day one for me. The first one is still one of the best games you can play on the switch.

@tntswitchfan68 may have something to do with the fact that 65% of Sony's game sales are digital now and climbing. Oh and that nearly a 5th of sales are the digital console. Nice generalisation on what ps5 owners want, must be nice to be such a guru on a platform you obviously don't like! Me personally I can't wait to play R&C next week.
Anyway another good week for the switch, I look forward to the direct that's coming. Hopefully we'll get some exciting news of some great new games that I might want to actually buy.

@The_Pixel_King I agree, it's healthy for the industry if all 3 are doing well. But I wonder if MS games will chart that high, because they want all their players signed up to GP where the games will be available from day one?

@tntswitchfan68 we'll have to agree to disagree. Yes Japan is a big gaming market, but it does seem to favour handheld gaming. Sony makes the majority of its money abroad, so it is prioritising that, which makes good business sense. Does it lose some of its soul, maybe, but companies have to evolve to the market place.
And for a Nintendo fan that should be great to hear, more Japanese developers will look to the switch. More great games for the switch.

I find it funny you think I'm a troll, I bet I've spent more money on Nintendo products and games over the years than you have. I just don't kneel at their feet, they are just another billion dollar company that wants to make money. I play games not corporations.

@tntswitchfan68 what facts? That sony isn't prioritising Japan? Shocker! Most of their business now is in the west! Most of their exclusives are catered for western audiences. That capcom haven't released 20 games on the ps5 yet so it's doomed! Never mind that from SE they have FF7 part 2, FF 16 and a new FF game that's apparently a Souls like game, all exclusive to Sony. That they have just sponsored Asobu, a community hub for Japanese indies, that should help get their games on the platform.
As someone else said, it's early days, they are sending most of their stock abroad (amazon UK apparently had 60k in one go). I'm sure they want to do well in Japan but it's not their priority. The switch has the country locked down, hell nearly 25% of all switches in the wild are in Japan.

I'm sure the next mainline monster hunter will be on ps5. And like I said last week, why would they do a ps5 version of ace attorney when it will play the ps4 version? It's not like they need to add ray tracing eh. Sony don't need Japanese games to survive, their business model is exclusives and the main 3rd party games that sell the most world wide, like your CODS, battlefield, Fifa and the like. Apart from a select few, most Japanese games aren't massive sellers. But they do have some big deals coming from Square Enix. Anyway you only have to look at the amount of games Sony sold last year compared to the rest to know they are in great shape.

But it's great to see the switch still doing so well, I do hope Nintendo start using all this money to start cracking out some great new games and new IPs.

With valve having over 120 million current monthly active users (as of last year), If they get the power/ battery/ price right it could do really well. Hell I have over 300 games on steam, if I could play them anywhere I'll definitely buy it. And I don't think this doing well has anything to do with the big 3 console companies, it doesn't need exclusives, just access to steam.

I enjoy gaming on all 3 systems, why limit myself to just one and miss out on some amazing games from the others. They all have scummy practice's, even your beloved Nintendo! And TheRedComet is correct, by all 3 company's doing well and competing we the consumers benefit from the competition as they shouldn't just try and coast.

Why should they prioritise Japan just because its their home country? Nintendo have Japan locked down, handheld gaming is massive over there, consoles under TVs not so much anymore.

You can play ace attorney via back compat so why waste resources doing a ps5 version for a game that's not graphically demanding? Plus they are getting lots of support from Square Enix and have just sponsored the Japanese indie creator hub Asobu which will help get Japanese smaller games on a Sony platform. Sony will do fine in Japan, saying the ps5 has lost Japan after just 6 months is laughable. Getting fixated on one counties sales figures is silly, sony sells more games than any other platform globally. Maybe they have lost some of their identity, companies are always adapting and changing.
Maybe Nintendo will now be the place to go to for the big Japanese releases, surely that's a good thing for everyone on this site!
