@glaemay I think you'll find there are toxic fan boys on all systems. I find it funny how people can have such loyalty to billion dollar corporations, when all 3 have been anti consumer at times. I just love playing great games, which ever system they're on.
@AJDarkstar yeah astro really does show off what it can do. Don't sleep on sackboy either, not quiet on the same level but it's just a fun brilliant game too. Been playing it through with my boys and having a great time.
@Cyberbotv2 you may be right about that. But you could look at it the other way, that more and more people will be staying at home during these times and for some time into the future. And they'll be buying things that give them things to do. Demand may stay high for some time.
@TheWingedAvenger ps2 sold 1383.5 million games. The switch is on 456 million after 3 and a half years. Your argument doesn't hold up. I have no loyalty to any billion dollar company or plastic box under my TV, that's why I have all three. I just love playing great games and want them all to do well. I think that once developers get used to the platforms, they will start making games not possible on the last gen. Time will tell. But id be quite happy to go to the bookies tomorrow and bet that the ps5 will outsell the ps4.
@TheWingedAvenger you do realise the switch would have to sell another 90 million to beat the ps2? And its probably half way through it life! And I think both companies will do just fine. Sony expects to sell 11 million by march, and since demand is through the roof and people are paying $1500 on ebay for them they have nothing to worry about.
@Cyberbotv2 why should it rock the switchs sales? There is room for everyone, and Nintendo appeals more to casual gamers and family's. It will just keep selling the same. The charts will be weird for quite a while as both new systems will just come into stock every few weeks. I think both companies have done really well to start manufacturing and releasing new consoles during a pandemic. And as someone who's ps5 arrived today, I'm really excited for the first year of games coming to the ps5 exclusively. Rachet and clank, GT7, Death loop, God of War ragnarok (probably just ps5), ghostwire tokyo, final fantasy 16, project athia plus the ones like horizon 2 and Kena Bridge of spirits that will play and look loads better. And the new controller is a good as they say.
As someone who has all 3 consoles i find it really funny how some people on here really need for the other consoles to do badly so they can feel great about their system of choice. You invest so much in a multi billion dollar company that only sees you as a subscriber and consumer. They only care about making money the same as the others. The switch is a great machine but so are the others. I've been impressed with my series x, and I'm really excited for my ps5 to arrive on Thursday. I've watched enough videos to know that the dual sense is a game changer in immersion, and I think we have Nintendo to thank for that. Sony have taken some of their magic to innovate for a change. At the end of the day I want all the companies to do well, competition means better games, so we all win. Oh and since there will only be around 200k to 300k ps5's in the UK by the end of the week, demon souls getting 6th the week before is pretty impressive.
I believe it will beat the Wii easily, it just has too much momentum. But I think what will stop it getting past the PS2 is in 3/4 years they will need to release the Switch 2. 3rd party games then will be next gen only and won't be portable/scalable to the switch. And I reckon Nvidia will have something amazing by then that's going to really impress people with what's possible on a hybrid. Especially with their DLSS 2.0 tech.
Really pleased to see Ghost sell so well, best game I've played all year(world immersion, combat system, story), and a nice break from the 150 hours I've put into animal crossing. Apparently it's completely sold out physically in Japan so it could have done even better. I do think once they have stock it will have legs, as the reviews in Japan have been great.
I think the developer is spot on, the Switch offers something the others don't. And I also think the switch will be sitting at 60million + by the time the PS5 and new Xbox launch so that's a massive install base for companies to keep developing for. I love my Switch but I've also loved some of the best games I've ever played on my PS4 so I'll be buying a PS5 day one. There is room for everyone, I hope all 3 manufacturers do really well, competition breeds better games and experiences so everyone wins.
The main thing they missed out of the article, is that by the time PS5 and the new Xbox launch the Switch will probably be sitting at around 60-70 million units sold. (Switch Lite giving a boost). That's a massive install base to make games for. Plus a long cross Gen, companies would be stupid not to make games for the switch. Add the great first party games we know are coming and Nintendo are in a great place.
