@Slim1999 is the company only 2 guys wiping the sweat off their brows to get some presentation finished in time? Does Nintendo have an incredible amount of money? This miniscule drop of two games is not the only reason the company is terrible but just one of countless reasons why. I really wish Nintendo fans when scream loudly at their faults and help them get on track to become a strong, customer supporting, video game company like they once were. Instead it's excuses or wait and see, or they are busy or some other deflection. The fact is they are a terrible company that think they can still dictate this industry when their own head in the clouds mentality has lost them massive amounts of players and respect in the industry. But I'm just a hater used to be a fan. I'm pretty common though. I only want these guys to get back to be a real contender.
@ThanosReXXX you are right it was discontinued and not canceled. I was giving Nintendo a pass on the Virtual Boy as it was a niche product, sold terribly and had no impact on the industry. So sure I will agree as well and say it was their first failure. Also the Nintendo 64 might not have been a "failure" to its fans but to the mighty dollar and Nintendo's brass it was a failure when the competition blew it out of the water, thus making Nintendo decide to discontinue the console.
When I read the title I instantly thought, in the grave where it belongs.
I wish I still had the Nintendo Press Release for when they canceled the N64. It was quite spiteful and I have never seen its equivalent. They blamed 3rd party developers for jumping ship to the competition (sounds familiar doesn't it? They jumped due to memory issues with the cartridges). Then they had the audacity to actually call out the public for not supporting the console enough. I remember reading it and being like wow, such hubris and balls. In essence it was Nintendo's first REAL (I don't count the virtual boy) failure but maybe why they took it so hard. It left a bad taste in my mouth, especially when many of the same mistakes continue to this day,.
I'm trying to hold back but it's hard not to rant. Oh and on a side note, My Nintendo Rewards digital games like Wario 3, Metroid 2 and Super Mario Bros 3 will be staying up until October 1st. Incredible. I don't expect new ones before then.
@madelk the same. Was ready to buy 2 of them. I've learned to curb my expectations on Thursdays when it comes to Nintendo doing what I think they will do.
@PanurgeJr no I don't. But I do expect for Nintendo to be competitive in the video game business. Instead they trickle out the 3rd party trash ware. Then their lemming like fanboys demand nothing better. Crap sales and a complete lack of self awareness. Also I do buy stuff when it's something good or competitive. Sadly that's not often due to Nintendo living in its own world relying on its defense force to continue to embrace it's stagnant status quo.
@Billsama I did. They talk about suspecting it will have more significance when the NX and mobile systems are added. Then they say these offerings are pretty decent. If you think they aren't doing damage control they must not be reading the comment sections on every one of their posts about My Nintendo Rewards and how most people think it's terrible.
@Billsama
Nintendo Life are trying to do damage control using such words as baby system. Let it grow? They have been doing this for years. Do they need us to tell them how to do it right? Is this a learning experience for them? Are they new to the video game industry? Sometimes I think they are.
@JaxonH You are right they are the real loser. Just like I said, it impacts my support of their future products. Because I don't like what they are doing.
@JaxonH I don't see it as just a rewards program. I see it as how they treat their fans and customers. These are in essence sales that their competition have weekly, much better ones at that. Yet these are sales only for people that have bought their products already. You have to buy to buy again at a cheaper price, IF you know about and actively search for this sale (rewards program). So to me it's insulting and I do take it personally. Sony and MS have had many times before had a "buy this much in games and get this much money back in credit" deals. This is in essence "buy lots of games and then get a discount only on these couple of games that we have chosen for you". Oh and the coins go away in 6 months and the discounts don't get close to online retailers low prices for physical versions. It's competition and Nintendo always think they are the only ones in the game.
Here is a question I pose to you all. Why is Nintendo doing this to its biggest fans?
Let's face it, the people, such as ourselves, that engage in My Nintendo Rewards and are active on Nintendo websites like Nintendo Life are some of the biggest fans of Nintendo. We look weekly for the Nintendo Download and keep up with My Nintendo's "reward" system even after they dumped Club Nintendo. How many consumers of Nintendo games and systems do you think keep up with this stuff weekly or even daily? I would vouch it's not that many compared to the sum of the whole. I posit that we are a small section of Nintendo customers that care and are actively involved in their products. How many of their games and consoles are sold to people and especially kids that could care less about this stuff? Many of them probably don't even know about My Nintendo Rewards. They removed game inserts explaining how it works and made it digital purchases only for Gold Coins. This reward system has no footprint like Club Nintendo had, and that was their choice. We are the ones that seek it out. Yet Nintendo continues to provide a joke of a "reward" system to its most engaged and, I would say, loyal fans. It's quite insulting actually. Before you say that they don't have to provide one, I agree, it's their choice. Yet they do. So why create one that is legitimately focused mainly on engaged fans and then try to make it as invaluable as possible to those same fans? Do you know how deep Nintendo's pockets are? Deep. Real deep. I personally think the company has been off track for years. If they hadn't dominated the handheld market they would have thrown in the towel years ago. They don't have to do this. They don't have to penny pinch their fans and give them non-competitive sales and discounts as well as a laughable My Nintendo Rewards. This shows me that Nintendo doesn't have its pulse on the current industry and they haven't for a long time. So I ask, why is Nintendo providing such a terrible reward system to their biggest fans? The answer is that they simply can and don't care. After the complete panning of this reward system online they refuse to listen to their customers and make it better. This will influence me when it comes to supporting their future consoles and I hope it would do the same to you. Focus on the "why?" instead of just the bad rewards. Do we deserve better? I think we do or scrap the whole thing. It's an insult.

@Ralizah agreed! Super Castlevania IV is the game I'm waiting for most. Then Super Mario Bros. All Stars. After those are released I'm done checking and waiting each week for the drip drip drip of VC 3DS games.
Good Ole Nintendo. Stopped following their 3ds download Thursdays right after the Super Mario Bros 3 on 3ds Virtual Console fiasco/year long delay and I can see nothing has changed. Came back for the SNES releases and it's the waiting game again. They learn nothing and apparently neither do I thinking they may be trying to do better with their Virtual Console releases. My fault.
Galaga? Lol. I'm gonna get SMB3 when it is finally released in 2019 and use up all my club nintendo coins as soon as possible and then never check their drip, drip, pause, drip, pause release of content ever again.

What a terrible company.
Re: My Nintendo Extends Validity Period for Gold Points
@Billsama if those are insults the internet is no place for you.
Re: My Nintendo Extends Validity Period for Gold Points
@Billsama avoid = can't debate with. Gotcha.
Re: My Nintendo Extends Validity Period for Gold Points
@Billsama oh I didn't know that time made a BS comment invalid.
"4 or 5 people on NintendoLife comments sections are not "most people" I get some are mad, but "the majority" I don't think so."
I guess these comments in this post isn't the majority.
Take these comment sections way too serious? No only nintendo blame deflection and sheep mentality are taken seriously.
Re: My Nintendo Extends Validity Period for Gold Points
@billsama 4 or 5 people in the comment section huh?
Re: Nintendo Download: 25th August (North America)
The stars must have aligned for 3DS VC releases.
Re: Samus is the Latest Hero to Get a My Nintendo 3DS HOME Theme
Lol "high-points". Thanks Nintendo Life, I needed a laugh today.
Re: Nintendo Download: 18th August (North America)
@msvt dynamite comment. Could not agree more.
Re: Nintendo Download: 18th August (North America)
Being a complete mystery about when VC games will show up is the only consistent thing Nintendo does anymore.
Re: Nintendo Download: 18th August (North America)
Yes! Finally 3DS VC Street Fighter...oh...I see.
Re: New Gamescom Missions Are Available for European My Nintendo Accounts
In North America, the digital game rewards are staying up until October....October.

@Fath thus the critique that their 1st party games under their control and not released should be made.

Psssst. It's called a 3DS for a reason. People can be disappointed if they want and support it or not with their wallet.

Wow super weak!

Maybe Nintendo has forgotten that the 3DS has a virtual console too? This has officially become a joke.
