@Yosher Knowing Nintendo, poor sales equates to people not interested in the franchise and they’ll just let it die off. They love ignoring the criticism.
I’d go through 40 games with 2 tickets and only get like 4 ability chunks of what I was grinding for. Feels like I’d have the same outcome without the tickets.
If the 3DS could handle RE: Revelations, I’m sure the Switch can handle RE2 Remake. It’s mostly small rooms and a few zombies on screen at a time. It won’t like as pretty as the others but that should go without saying at this point.
Just because PlayStation gets the reveal teaser doesn’t mean it’s not coming to Switch. This wouldn’t be the first time a game gets revealed by PlayStation and ends up on other consoles. Nintendo and Microsoft also get that privilege at times.
I don’t get why people get upset when a casual game doesn’t support the pro controller. It’s so much more lax than having to keep your hands together to hold a pro controller.
Essentially all we're paying for are the NES games, rather than having it as an optional service. I'd rather have free online service and the option to subscribe to the NES games service. Sadly, I have a feeling NES titles are a "freebie" for Switch online and if we want to play SNES games or N64 games or Gamecube games, etc, we'll be paying for a separate service for each console. Otherwise the app would be called Nintendo Console Classics or something.
6 months of NES then 6 months of Gameboy, maybe a couple GBC sprinkled here and there, then finally 6 months of SNES. It’ll be 2 years by the time we see some N64 and 6 months after that, GameCube.
The only way I can see Nintendo selling 18 mil Switches by March is if they have another direct before this holiday season that has a trailer for Animal Crossing and Metroid Prime 4, which I doubt will happen, or there will be a sale this holiday, which is more likely since they skipped a sale last holiday.
The Switch is significantly underpowered because the nvidia chip used was not specifically tailored for gaming, Nvidia did not want to risk time and resources collaborating with Nintendo to make a chip that catered to Nintendo’s vision because of the failure that the Wii U was. The Switch is basically a prototype, and the “Switch Pro” will be what the Switch was meant to be from the start, and developers won’t have as much of a problem porting games to it, still won’t be on par with Xbox and PS, and I don’t get people who are expecting that from a tablet-sized console.
Also, I read mentions of GameCube failing because Nintendo was trying to compete with power, it failed because no developers wanted to deal with those dumb tiny disk. If Nintendo opted to use normal sized disk then it would’ve gotten more games and sold more units.
The only way for Nintendo to reach their 20 mil goal for this fiscal year is to at least provide a trailer for Animal Crossing, Metroid Prime 4, and a huge 3rd Party game that people want to play anywhere, i.e. GTAV. If none of that happens before the holiday season, I don't see them selling 20 mil by March with the lineup they currently have.
I'm sure it's a great story and all, but after giving Oxenfree a try, beating it in a couple hours and not having any reason to replay such a short story, I don't see myself ever purchasing a game like this ever again, don't think it's worth my money. Maybe I'll look for a walk through of it on Youtube, hopefully by a commentator that isn't obnoxiously talkative.
Starting off with 20 NES games? I can’t even name 5 NES games I like. NES games can be played on a calculator, but you’re gonna give us 20 of them to start off this service? That’s just insulting. Should’ve had games on a variety of systems. Not everyone loves over paying for a game that was released in the 80s. Who wants to play Ice Climbers? Not me.
I’m 180 hours in, trying to 100% it, which is super annoying for some side quests since I like figuring things out by myself and never look anything up. After a gazillion blade bonds I still have 4 more blades to unlock. And one of my main concerns is that some of the requirements for completeing an affinity tree is to speak to specific NPCs a certain number of times. I got all my towns fully developed and completed almost all non-blade side quests and merc missions, so I’m not able to get new dialogue. How am I suppose to complete those affinity charts?
After seeing MHW, going to XX would be a step back. I didn’t even get in 3DS because I didn’t like the arts mechanic and it just seemed like a beefy upgrade of MH4U. I have no idea how they’d put a MH on Switch that is on par with Worlds, I just hope it isn’t an embarrassing flop that will cause Capcom to shy away from Nintendo when it comes to MH.
@retro_player_22 I think that’s how Labo should’ve been implemented from the start. Being able to buy individual projects, and maybe a free app on the eShop where you enter in a download code that comes with the individual projects. For example, if I want the fishing kit and the piano kit, I’ll pay a separate price for each and then enter the code in the app to get the instructions and play the games. That would be ideal, especially for people that are not interested in everything a variety kit has to offer, rather than having to pay 70 bucks just to try something out.
Why are people that preordered 10 Labo Kits 30 seconds into the trailer so upset that people want to know more about the durability, functionality, and replay value of Labo? It’s perfectly ok for people to raise questions like that, lol.
I want to know how the fishing game plays and if the string will slowly tear through the cardboard after a few uses, or how smoothly the reel turns, and whether it can withstand kids trying to beat their high scores by playing more aggressively. (I’m an adult and I press buttons on a controller super hard, thinking it’ll make a difference.) Can’t imagine a kid getting really into a game and remembering to lightly press down on a cardboard peddle, or not to punch too hard with their little robot kit.
Don’t see what’s wrong with asking these questions until we get the answers before making a purchase. That’s just how I do things.
Not everyone who isn’t onboard the Labo train is salty because we didn’t get a 2 hour Nintendo direct on Prime 4, Pokémon, and Animal Crossing, and hope that Labo fails because it doesn’t appeal to us. Geez, jump to conclusions much?
@Shadowkiller97 The way the trailer was presented makes me see Labo as more of a product for people that enjoy making model planes and cars. I would think something like that is geared more towards adults and a very niche hobby for children especially.
I wouldn’t place Labo in that category, since that would really narrow the target market. That’s why I think durability should be brought into question, especially with all the movement required for a lot of the kits we’ve seen so far.
And even with the Lego sets with instructions with specific models, you can still take it apart and connect the pieces any which way or mix them up with other sets.
Idk how much replay ability cardboard contraptions will have. Once you build a set and play a game a few times, will you want to go back to it? It’s not like LEGO where you can build something, tear it down, then build something else. How durable is the cardboard, after a few uses from a child, would the mechanics still function or will it get flimsy over time? Either the cardboard is high quality and the games are outrageously fun, which I hope is the case for those ready to spend the money on Labo, or it may go the way of the 3DS’s AR cards, you have fun for a while then put them away for good in most cases.
I would’ve liked to see a more durable, biodegradable material, though. Maybe this will hold up, but the kids were being pretty gentle in that trailer, lol.
This was the first HM-like game I've ever played. I never gave the genre a chance because I thought it'd be more tedious than fun. The one thing that will take me a while to adjust to is how fast a day goes by, I feel like I hardly get anything done before it starts getting dark and everything starts closing. Animal Crossing kind of conditioned me with the whole real-time clock, making each day in this game feel so limiting.
Nintendo needs to accept a costs for providing developers with the 32 gb game cartridge. It will appease both the developers and customers. Also, people need to understand that there will be trade offs for being an "affordable" hybrid console. Not enough memory for a AAA title is the trade off for having it portable.
