@topsekret LOL, it sure makes things better when you acquire the actual upgrade pack. When I launched it earlier, and got a notification of a new update, I thought that was the Switch 2 patch. My bad. The install is now 30 GB, and looking sharp.
@topsekret It’s only 11.3 GB on my Switch 2. I don’t know why certain eShops are reporting drastically higher download numbers. Maybe it’s a placeholder for an optional HD texture pack. That’d be sweet, actually.
Out of curiosity, has anyone done an actual pixel count to confirm 1080p output? The image still feels soft to me, as if they stuck with the 900p used for the HUD elements in the Switch 1 release, and are outputting the 3D graphics at that resolution now.
@brandonbwii Good question. I’m guessing that they haven’t added 2-player splitscreen support though, given that it isn’t mentioned in the announcement or on the eShop.
@Hwatt 100% agree. It may have been a design and engineering challenge, but the upsides for a universal dock in households with Switch 1 & 2 systems would be highly appreciated. Maybe a third party will deliver such a device, but Nintendo should have done it.
Unicorn Overlord seems a likely candidate to have crossed one million in sales, considering that it passed 500K back in early April. Your article back then noting this event even used the phrase 'one milly.'
Really beautiful costume designs by Nintendo. They are truly merging the best ideas from Disney and Mattel (Barbie) into their IP. I suspect that Peach will become another juggernaut brand from Nintendo in the coming years, with games, movies, and merchandise a plenty.
I would love it if you would interview some game developers, like Hello Games, about their experience in bringing games like No Mans Sky to the Switch. The more detailed the better, I say.
Feral Interactive’s games on the Switch have been technically excellent, so I expect we’ll see the same when they deliver Company of Heroes. The control interface will be the real challenge here. I do hope they nail it.
Nintendo actually has a long history of delivering backwards compatibility, especially in their handheld systems. This supposed concern that some publishers/developers have about backwards compatibility limiting sales is bunk. First, virtually all modern day platforms (Xbox, PS, PC, iOS) have it, and companies still sell games there. And secondly, having bc vastly increases the install base into which previously developed games can be sold.

OMG, can you imagine a 3D sequel of this game done in the original’s crayon art style. That would be gorgeous.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Strategy Games
I own many of these, and it’s a good list, for sure, but the absence of Divinity: Original Sin 2 is a glaring omission.

The Steam version is highly regarded. If the Switch version holds up, I’ll put it on my short list.
