Re: Retro-Inspired Indie Sea Of Stars Sold 100,000 Copies On Its First Day

RchUncleSkeleton

Played about an hour and a half, and so far it feels likes it's dragging to get into the meat of the game, even with me not wandering at all between the linear progression. I really want to love it, so I hope it picks up soon. The combat is decent and the system is very reminiscent of CT or FF6, with a little Super Mario RPG thrown in. Like @DavidMac said, the score (music) is a little lacking, but still pretty good. Mind you, CT is my all time favorite JRPG, so it has a lot to live up to.

Re: Rockstar Has Released Its First Update For The Grand Theft Auto Trilogy

RchUncleSkeleton

@Nintendo-or-Noth It's good they're fixing a broken game, yes, but it never should have been released in such a state to begin with. Rockstar/Take-Two/Grove St Games had no intention of fixing these things before the widespread public outcry. Imagine if they had released this version of the game with all these bugs back when it wasn't possible to provide updates after the fact. Just because you can update it later doesn't mean you should push out a broken product and worry about it later. Customers who pay full price for a game should not be your testing department and shouldn't have to complain for you to fix all these things, that they clearly knew were wrong with it.

Re: Doug Bowser (Kind Of) Addresses Complaints About Switch Online's Nintendo 64 Emulation

RchUncleSkeleton

@Edu23XWiiU what are you smoking? Emulation is and always has been about replicating a piece of hardware with software. Changing things like fog in a game is not something that emulation should be trying to achieve. Games were programmed in a way that both catered to that hardware and for stylistic purposes. Ultimately, emulation should be aiming to give you the exact experience from the original hardware with the obvious advantage of pure digital signals being output to the display. Anything else is extra and should always be optional; including scaling, texture upgrades, overclocking, etc. But even with all that, removing fog that was programmed into the game has nothing to do with improving emulation or the game, as this is merely a side effect of poor programming for the emulator that does not handle the original hardware calls properly.

Re: Random: Uh-Oh, Nintendo's Switch Online 'Expansion Pack - Overview Trailer' Is Generating A Lot Of Dislikes

RchUncleSkeleton

@PhhhCough The difference is that Microsoft offers free monthly games from a modern library and they also provide dedicated servers for online play. Switch online simply connects peer to peer, so you're paying for something that anyone could do with a direct connection, which limits speed and connectivity options, plus the games they're offering are 20 to 30 years old, being emulated and can be played in a dozen other ways.

Re: Nintendo President Quizzed By Shareholders On Switch 'Pro' And Classic Mini Consoles

RchUncleSkeleton

I don't understand why people are criticizing Furukawa for being a "corporate drone". There's no reason for Nintendo to divluge behind the scenes WIP stuff to their public investors. Personally I feel like the question about NSO was only to see how much more Nintendo can charge for online services, so they can squeeze every penny out of the company and customers as they can. Investors should not have any input on how a company is run, unless it's seriously on the wrong path.

Re: Video: Pokémon Fan "Fixes" Diamond And Pearl Remakes With This Slick Concept Trailer

RchUncleSkeleton

@VoidofLight Then what do you call Resident Evil Remakes? Just because a remake changes from the original game doesn't mean it's not a remake. The word remake is literally defined as "to make different in some way". Ever seen Scarface, Gone in 60 Seconds, Planet of the Apes or The Wicker Man? You're telling me those aren't remakes becasue they changed the story or some characters?

Re: Video: Pokémon Fan "Fixes" Diamond And Pearl Remakes With This Slick Concept Trailer

RchUncleSkeleton

@Tharsman they could easily rework the Sword and Sheield Engine to accomodate Diamond and Pearl with changes to the maps, models and textures, then rework the story. Shouldn't take 3 years for that. I don't mind the current visuals, but I wouldn't consider changing the art style and perspective to being something entirely different from the originals. Besides a remake is not a remaster, as has been seen by Final Fantasy 7.

Re: 30 Years After Nintendo's "Operation Midnight Shipping" And Console Launches Are Still Fraught With Danger

RchUncleSkeleton

The problem is in a lot of cases the customer lies and claims they didn't get the item when they actually did. Then you compound that with lowlifes in the delivery chain and the one's left holding the bag are the seller of the item. I work for a company that does direct internet sales and see several reports a week of items not showing up. In most of those cases, they file a chargeback with paypal or their bank and never contact us. When we contact them they act shady when we ask why they didn't bother to contact us directly, so we can help them and almost everytime end up hanging up the phone because they just got caught.

Re: "Nintendo Isn't That Smart": Pachter Says Nintendo Should Scrap Switch And 'Only Have Switch Lite'

RchUncleSkeleton

Pachter is a numbskull. Most people I know play the switch a majority in docked mode. I personally play in docked mode 99% of the time, as I'd rather kick back and play on a large screen, plus anything with local multiplayer is infinitely better docked. Who shall I believe? The random analyst who apparently did no research or the gaming giant that has brought my great games over the last 30 years?

Re: Review: Regular Show: Mordecai and Rigby in 8-Bit Land (3DS)

RchUncleSkeleton

I want to know who let this suckfest out the door, so I can kick them in the balls. If this is what WayForward is producing I won't expect them to be around much longer. The reviews of this game and the new Adventure Time game are coming in and they're not good. They're both tired and uninspired generic ripoffs of other crappy games that are lacking the cleverness and charm of their respective shows. Who was at the helm on these bags of crap and who thought it was a good idea to release these games in this form? Honestly, the free flash games and the android/iOS games are much better and they're not $30. I would be surprised if anyone who worked on these gave a damn about either of the shows.

Re: These Games Are Coming to You Before June is Over

RchUncleSkeleton

Enough with the damn dancing and workout games already!!!! Geez, 50 games is more than too many for each type!!!! If you've played 1 you've played them all! I wish Nintendo would bring back the "Seal of Quality" and actually put games through an approval process before green-lighting them. Bring back some of the innovation and creativity of past generations and put some support behind developers who want to create something new and exciting!

Re: Yes, There Really Is a Zelda Master Timeline Document

RchUncleSkeleton

very funny that they're announcing this now, as they once stated that the series isn't really connected but some elements are just re-used in each game. They said before that every game has a different "Link" and that they're sort of parallel universes. It's funny how they don't have a timeline and they're saying they do, but it's unseen by anyone but some top execs over at nintendo. Don't put any faith into what they're saying, if there's a timeline then there are several contradictions and several plot holes within the series.

Re: Jett Rocket's Return May Not be in Platform Form

RchUncleSkeleton

They won't charge 2 or 3 times for a similar experience? Ummm this is what most game devs do! If the 3D platforming aspect is what made the game then they shouldn't deviate from that, they should instead keep the 3D platforming and create a whole new story along with new characters and weapons along with new styles of play....ditching the platforming doesn't seem like it's going to do any good at all! Some people are just plain stupid and this is an obvious one right here!

Re: 3DS Anti-Piracy Measures are Too Sophisticated for Human Brain

RchUncleSkeleton

Well first off, THQ is really gullible to accept that as an answer to how powerful the new AP for the 3DS will be. Secondly, many people who do pirate the games would not have bought the games they pirated regardless if they could pirate them or not, so every game pirated doesn't equal a lost sale. I'm just guessing here but if I had to, I'd say that around 60% of people who pirate the game wouldn't have bought it. Last, if THQ wants to sell more games they need to stop making all the bullsh*t shovelware they produce and actually come out with some quality titles. I guess what I'm trying to say is "Piracy or not, a crap game won't rake in the dough".
