And it kind of was irresponsible if it all depended on a successful deal.

My suspicion is that the acquisitions were to inflate the company's value for a sale, which has just fallen through (see the linked story at the bottom of the article).
Now they're left actually having to make the business work, which wasn't part of the plan.

Instead of having a sale, they could permanently reduce the prices...

I've got a few rare games. I'm not going to let their rarity value stop me playing them. I will, however, let the annoyance of having to set up the hardware stop me, and I'll play the PSN version of Suikoden II rather than the disc.

Who are these mythical people who like FE: Fates and somehow haven't already got round to getting the DLC? New customers? At this stage?

Digital content is absolutely fine as long you know what you are buying (essentially a rental) and pay what you think that is worth. Yes, that should probably be less than physical content. Although not having to find and swap media is a plus to me.

@AlienX Same for me. I've got 13 hours on 13 games, according to the Memories site, with my third most played game being one I don't even own (I played a bit of multiplayer). No mention of the hundreds of hours I put into MHU4.
It looks like it's just the first month or two, for me, and is ignoring the other 10 years.
I assume it's something to do with the disastrous mess of accounts.

My original owned-from-new copy of GoldenEye didn't come with a box, since it was bundled with the N64, and came inside the N64 box.

Great news that the missing Crossbell games are coming to the west officially. It seems a long way away, but I still need to play the three Trails in the Sky games so I probably won't be ready in time.

CS 1 and 2 are already available on PC and PS4. It's just the Switch that's missing out. The issue is that the first two (along with the Sky series) were handled by XSEED rather than NIS in the west.

I've been watching everything through the twitch channel of a podcast I listen to. It's about being able to discuss the stream in real time with a like-minded community.
I don't know if I'm interested in watching the "raw" feed. (Although it might be at a bad time for me anyway.)

I played Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones on my Micro not too long ago. What I particularly loved was the way I got several hours of play without having to charge it even though I'd ignored it for maybe 10 years.
It is the best, even if mine is just plain blue.

So basically there's enough history now that they can pretend any year is a "big" anniversary.
I'm fine with that, if it means we get nice stuff.

I got my Switch Online for "free" (via Twitch Prime) and I don't think I've used it at all. I'm not totally sure how that factors in to value-for-money.
Honestly, though, without a decent online infrastructure - achievements, etc - I don't really see the point. I'm not going to choose to play online games on the Switch unless I have no other choice.

I wasn't really expecting to see this on Switch. Nice. I haven't finished 2 yet, so I wasn't in a big hurry to get 3 when it came out on the PS4 a month or two back.

I really enjoyed the first one. It's pretty old-school, and kind of easy for the most part, but apparently that's what I like.

@m8e3point1415 I think it's the right decision not to keep dragging around 20 years of history. It's a bit like the Star Wars films de-canonising the EU - you just cannot support that kind of baggage without the whole thing collapsing under its own weight.

But leaving that aside, there is no excuse for abuse. "Fans" are not entitled to get what they want. GameFreak should be free to make a terrible game. I mean, it should do badly, if it's terrible, but there's normal disappointment and there's internet disappointment.

Pokemon fans don't seem to be pokemon fans.

I have literally just started Lost Future (there doesn't seem to be much logic behind the use of US vs UK titles in the article, but never mind). I bought it when it came out, in 2010. It was still shrink-wrapped.

I'm a little over 5 hours in now, and my DSi XL only now needs charging, after I haven't touched it for years.

I'll probably still get these sooner or later. I have the iOS versions of 1 and 2, but I think I'm more likely to actually play them on the Switch. You've just got to calibrate your expectations and pay what you think they're worth.

I loved XI when I played it on the PS4 earlier this year, but not enough to buy it again even if this version is slightly different. I am interested in I-III, though. (I think I've already got them on iOS, but I doubt I'll ever play them there.)

I didn't think I'd see the day when the Switch version of something was cheaper than the PS4 version. (Actually, it looks like the normal price is slightly higher on PSN, too.)

I loved Grandia 2 on the Dreamcast, but although I have the disc and PSN versions of the first one, I've never quite got around to playing it.
Maybe a third copy will help?

It doesn't seem to me that this is likely to be able to do much, and I think it really is just an easter egg.

I guess Nintendo had to pull it, though, since they can't be sure it doesn't expose security problems. If they didn't know about it, they wouldn't have been able to test it.

I can't imagine playing Trials without analogue triggers. I'm not likely to get the Switch version.

I love Lords of Midnight, but I'm not sure I like the look of this one. LoM worked because it was largely monochrome - everything was covered in snow.

I'm not sure I see the advantage of using this technique now, in this way.

It's not all that surprising, but I really like my Vita, and I've pretty much given up gaming on phones and tablets. I'd imagine the 3DS doesn't have all that long, and is there a successor planned? Or is the Switch going to take on both roles for Nintendo?

I'd be all over this if it could play the PS1 Classics I own on PSN (and sometimes also on original disc) but can't play on the PS4. Although all of these mini consoles would be improved with wireless controllers.

Sometimes I buy a game 3 or 4 times before I actually play it. Sigh.

Based on the original versions of their consoles, I predict this will be about £600.

This is just bringing up the old 2DS to the New spec. I don't see why there's anything controversial about that at all.

The Switch is way more expensive, and not particularly great for portability or for multiple devices in a household.

It looks quite nice, to me, and I tend to switch the 3D off on my N3DS, so maybe it would be worth, erm, sidegrading. How accessible is the SD card?

Edit: OK, I just looked at the pictures from the announcement. The SD slot is actually accessible without a screwdriver, which is a nice upgrade over the N3DS. It looks like it closes better, and is probably more comfortable to hold than the N3DS XL, thanks to that game cover. I like it a lot. If Nintendo didn't insist on tying my account to one device, I'd probably get one in addition to my N3DS XL.

There aren't 999 robots, though. The number is an indication of the relative strength of the robots, and there are only a limited number of different types.

The C64 was very popular in Europe, thewiirocks. More so than the Master System, I'd say. Particularly in Germany, I believe, which also happens to be where NOE are based (I think), and it is down to them that we have the C64.

I think everything released for the Commodore so far was also on the DTV, but some of them were only on the PAL version.

I already have two of the DTVs, but I might just get myself a VC version just to show some support.
