definitely gonna find this documentary. The first ones on NES had something mesmerizing, more than any tetris thats been out after it. graphics sometime makes a game these days. Uncharted series was breathtaking, but the gameplay itself was rather simplistic. i wouldnt have played it if it wasnt of the insane amount of WOW i kept saying while playing.
skyrim also had that breathtaking graphic engine. gameplay is the same since morrowind, so im good with that. having high quality graphics mixed with deep gameplay mechanics really makes a memorable combo.
im more surprised that nintendo power or just about any printed gaming magazine are still alive. Internet is king, no matter what you say. with sites likes nintendo life and gamefaqs, there is just no mean or usefulness to a mag.
i had great times in the 90s with it. news were fresh and couldnt be found anywhere else. i was a subscribber in the nes era, then the snes era, then the n64 era and then i stopped once the internet was filled with free faqs,guides or whatever.
i had tons of these cards younger, always wondered what that game was all about. Found them in montreal chinatown mostly, but there was no game arcade or whatever, just cards to collect randomly.
if it ever comes in america,ill give it a try just for fanboyism. cause dragonball made my childhood better.
i worry a lot. yeah i like innovative games. nintendo always bring some on a plate. But when i got my PS3, i found a new world of graphical prowess AND innovation and this is why i will chose sony for my next gen home console. Graphic power and immersive visual really is something to experience, and now I always carve for the next title that will WOW me visually and provide me with some amazing gameplay. power doesnt only shiny objects. Its also the power to render HUGE areas realtime (skyim!), to render incredible physics (little big planet!) and crank up framerate and fluidity.(try a 60fps game, youll see) Also, it must be able to have enough power for the upcoming years in term of graphic effect technology.
what I feel with the WiiU so far is that it can take whatever is on the market right now, and maybe better mainly due to a 1080p resolution. But in 2 years, it will be outdated ridiculously. Devs will have to find ways to cut around things so they are able to make their creations OK. This way of doing isnt exactly what devs and artists want.
Big companies always want to go beyond their last game. They have solid competitors around the world trying to make the best looking game ever, to find the best new gameplay, physics, immersion,etc. on one side you have 2 consoles that will provide them freedom as they see fit for the upcoming years. On the other side, you have a console allready outdated and on which they will have to fix barriers, to hold themselves for doing too much because the hardware wont be able to do it. i call that cockblocking.
in 2 years or so,you will have to chose wether you want the top quality looking CoD (im hate CoDs, but theyre popular) or the downsized WiiU version with its odd gamepad.
I feel doing games for nintendo will cost more than developing something on microsoft or sony consoles dues to their standard approach. It doesnt mean they dont have those motion things or tablet, you can bet they will. but they wont be necessary for devs to create their games.
The WiiU make that pad a central point, while I feel it should be more an optional thing that can be cool to have, but that you can actually chose if you want it or not, saving pennies along the way.
and frankly, mario and zelda will need some serious innovations because right now, they stagnate to me. the last zelda didnt impressed me at all, and i HATE, I HATE and I HATE that damn motion control nunchuk thing. what a fail.
those who say bad week are ridiculous. how can you say its a bad week when you got a brand new mario game. you buy nintendo products for mario and his crew. elseway get a ps3 or a vita.

i remembered why i loved these games. i could play in front of a tv with a friend. with someone. playing nes games alone is boring or frustrating. only mario and zelda kept me entertained. mario 1 is still fun to play now and then... i want mario 2 and mario 3 nes classics!
never got into the star wars hype. saw the first trilogy when i was a kid. they were kinda cool.then saw the first star wars in a theater and i was bored to death. i couldnt get to like anakin, he got on my nerves quite fast. the jedi that look freshly out of a professional hair stylist, the story was...dull...got halfway thru the second movie until i stopped it, and never cared to watch the turd one.
truly an overhyped thing, there are way better science-fiction movies and ideas around than star wars.

another fail from nintendo. all of the nintendo events that came into montreal werent very successful. one time, it was supposed to be in the chinatown of montreal, i went there. nothing. i asked around for half an hour until one girl told me it was in a small coffee. once i got into the coffee. else than a wifi access and a mario poster, nothing was there. didnt see any freaking demos, stand or nintendo employee. i met one guy waiting there with his 3DS, and i feared the geekness in him too much (he was wearing a pokemon backpack while he looked like...a 30 years old guy with a beard)

oh yeah, and dont go cutting the price in half because there is no physical material. the box, prints and cart dont cost much to produce. china makes miracles for producing large numbers of product for ridiculous prices.
no. bad move.i wouldnt go as far as saying it should be 20$ when the game is brand new. but it should at least be 5-10$ less. 29.99 would have been great and instant buy. 34.99 would have been fair. but 39.99, they can keep it on their server, ill get physical instead.
the non swap bonus isnt worth a physical copy that you can share with friends or family, especially when you have 2 or more ds/3ds in the same household.digital copies cannot be shared among consoles, they stay on only 1 console.
also, you cannot sell your copy when youre bored of it, which happens. i know mario games should stay in your library, but some other games are great to do one time only.
squareenix always have financial difficulties. they game groundbreaking games, but the reason why they still goes into financial trouble still amazes me.
i still buy all the squareenix games i can. never been disapointed.

i really need a sequel. its my biggest surprise on the DS, bigger than dragonquest 9! (im a huge DQ fan, the 7 was a divine intervention)
ill keep my sequel hope alive... and i strongly advise anyone to buy the ds game if they didnt so far, as well as the Ios is they have a chance to own an ipad/iphone. (i dont, its way too costly for a phone, and its NOT a game system. DS / 3DS / VITA are. not an iphone)

graphics sometime makes a game these days.
Uncharted series was breathtaking, but the gameplay itself was rather simplistic.
i wouldnt have played it if it wasnt of the insane amount of WOW i kept saying while playing.
skyrim also had that breathtaking graphic engine. gameplay is the same since morrowind, so im good with that. having high quality graphics mixed with deep gameplay mechanics really makes a memorable combo.

im more surprised that nintendo power or just about any printed gaming magazine are still alive.
Internet is king, no matter what you say.
with sites likes nintendo life and gamefaqs, there is just no mean or usefulness to a mag.
i had great times in the 90s with it. news were fresh and couldnt be found anywhere else. i was a subscribber in the nes era, then the snes era, then the n64 era and then i stopped once the internet was filled with free faqs,guides or whatever.

i had tons of these cards younger, always wondered what that game was all about. Found them in montreal chinatown mostly, but there was no game arcade or whatever, just cards to collect randomly.

i worry a lot. yeah i like innovative games. nintendo always bring some on a plate.
But when i got my PS3, i found a new world of graphical prowess AND innovation and this is why i will chose sony for my next gen home console.
Graphic power and immersive visual really is something to experience, and now I always carve for the next title that will WOW me visually and provide me with some amazing gameplay.
power doesnt only shiny objects. Its also the power to render HUGE areas realtime (skyim!), to render incredible physics (little big planet!) and crank up framerate and fluidity.(try a 60fps game, youll see) Also, it must be able to have enough power for the upcoming years in term of graphic effect technology.
what I feel with the WiiU so far is that it can take whatever is on the market right now, and maybe better mainly due to a 1080p resolution. But in 2 years, it will be outdated ridiculously. Devs will have to find ways to cut around things so they are able to make their creations OK. This way of doing isnt exactly what devs and artists want.
Big companies always want to go beyond their last game. They have solid competitors around the world trying to make the best looking game ever, to find the best new gameplay, physics, immersion,etc. on one side you have 2 consoles that will provide them freedom as they see fit for the upcoming years. On the other side, you have a console allready outdated and on which they will have to fix barriers, to hold themselves for doing too much because the hardware wont be able to do it. i call that cockblocking.
in 2 years or so,you will have to chose wether you want the top quality looking CoD (im hate CoDs, but theyre popular) or the downsized WiiU version with its odd gamepad.
I feel doing games for nintendo will cost more than developing something on microsoft or sony consoles dues to their standard approach. It doesnt mean they dont have those motion things or tablet, you can bet they will. but they wont be necessary for devs to create their games.
The WiiU make that pad a central point, while I feel it should be more an optional thing that can be cool to have, but that you can actually chose if you want it or not, saving pennies along the way.
and frankly, mario and zelda will need some serious innovations because right now, they stagnate to me. the last zelda didnt impressed me at all, and i HATE, I HATE and I HATE that damn motion control nunchuk thing. what a fail.

those who say bad week are ridiculous. how can you say its a bad week when you got a brand new mario game. you buy nintendo products for mario and his crew. elseway get a ps3 or a vita.
mario pricross is exceptionnal.
but still,digital download of a retail game is a waste anyway. go physical at the same price, the cart swap just isnt worth the troubles you can have.

they will ruin specialized game shops.
you cant share your game with a digital copy. i share my games with friends, we trade around so we see if we like the games or not.
lost,broke or stolen 3ds means losing your games !
this is too much downsides, the ''no-cart swap'' feature isnt even worth it.

i loved exite bike when i was a kid. when i got the 3d version, i was quite happy, but got bored of it quite faster than expected. like all nes games.
i remembered why i loved these games. i could play in front of a tv with a friend.
with someone. playing nes games alone is boring or frustrating.
only mario and zelda kept me entertained. mario 1 is still fun to play now and then...
i want mario 2 and mario 3 nes classics!

never got into the star wars hype. saw the first trilogy when i was a kid. they were kinda cool.then saw the first star wars in a theater and i was bored to death. i couldnt get to like anakin, he got on my nerves quite fast. the jedi that look freshly out of a professional hair stylist, the story was...dull...got halfway thru the second movie until i stopped it, and never cared to watch the turd one.
truly an overhyped thing, there are way better science-fiction movies and ideas around than star wars.
so a star wars game ? i just dont give a damn even if its gorgeously made.

another fail from nintendo.
all of the nintendo events that came into montreal werent very successful.
one time, it was supposed to be in the chinatown of montreal, i went there. nothing. i asked around for half an hour until one girl told me it was in a small coffee.
once i got into the coffee. else than a wifi access and a mario poster, nothing was there. didnt see any freaking demos, stand or nintendo employee. i met one guy waiting there with his 3DS, and i feared the geekness in him too much (he was wearing a pokemon backpack while he looked like...a 30 years old guy with a beard)
sooooo... screw your small events and go to the game shows !

oh yeah, and dont go cutting the price in half because there is no physical material. the box, prints and cart dont cost much to produce. china makes miracles for producing large numbers of product for ridiculous prices.

no. bad move.i wouldnt go as far as saying it should be 20$ when the game is brand new. but it should at least be 5-10$ less. 29.99 would have been great and instant buy. 34.99 would have been fair. but 39.99, they can keep it on their server, ill get physical instead.
the non swap bonus isnt worth a physical copy that you can share with friends or family, especially when you have 2 or more ds/3ds in the same household.digital copies cannot be shared among consoles, they stay on only 1 console.
also, you cannot sell your copy when youre bored of it, which happens. i know mario games should stay in your library, but some other games are great to do one time only.

they game groundbreaking games, but the reason why they still goes into financial trouble still amazes me.
i still buy all the squareenix games i can. never been disapointed.
