Re: Video: Play Nintendo Channel Releases Debut 'Bragg Report'

Oscarsome

I think they could've chosen more recent games, but I suppose the ones shown here are all heavy hitters with an easy mainstream appeal. Kirby's there, at least!

Ehh, I think the video is actually good. It's fast-paced, shows gameplay, and chooses kids that are age and gender appropriate.

Re: Nintendo Publishes Part Two of the Miyamoto and Hayashi Star Fox Zero Interview

Oscarsome

Geez, people are upset that some feel that Miyamoto is past his prime? I mean, what has he truly done lately that has produced a quality game? Has he not instead hindered current games? Like Sticker Star and its lack of narrative and new characters. And now Star Fox Zero and the point that you have to "keep practicing and you will get good at these controls". What happened to simple and straightforward design?

He's done a lot already. But he's stuck in his own head that his ideas are gold. Unfortunately, he ends up making horrible decisions that people just let happen because he's Miyamoto.

Re: Best Buy Cancellations of Majora's Mask 3D New Nintendo 3DS Bundles Affects More Customers

Oscarsome

I'm one of those poor souls to have gotten my order cancelled. It's so irritating, to say the least. Now I'm just not going to buy a New 3DS until there is either an awesome themed New 3DS XL or the regular New 3DS comes to the US. Other than that, Nintendo can enjoy not having my money.

But I did get to use those $50 on buying Majora's Mask 3D. So at least I'm getting the game for free. That's something, I guess.

Re: Talking Point: A History of the Sexualisation of Samus

Oscarsome

I think some of you are just upset because the game is being critiqued in a more analytical fashion. It's important to have these discussions because they depict current society.

Yes, it's fine if a woman looks like that, but the point is that it seems so obviously added in only because to have people gawk over her. Continues to keep the stereotype that women are sexual objects for our viewing pleasure. It fuels that stereotype and that's why it can be negative.

Now, I'm not saying that female characters need to be covered in layers of clothing, but something this blatantly sexual just feels a bit too much and inappropriate. Might as well have enlarged her breasts some more and added some "blush" effects to her cheeks every time she jumped up. Because, of course, women are all like that.

Re: Reaction: Mario Kart 8 Accused Of Poor Sales Potential, Ruining Battle Mode And Racism

Oscarsome

I have to point this out. Just because, in Japan, there's mostly just Japanese people that does not mean it's okay for them to disregard other races. They are a global company. Meaning, they should know what markets they are selling to and what types of people play their games (every type of person). So, no, the argument a lot of you keep using that "it's okay, they are Japanese, they don't see other races" is pretty racist within itself.

I think it would be great to see other type of characters introduced in the series. Rosalina might have been a perfect character to have had darker colored skin. It's noticed, whether unconsciously or not, that certain types of people are underrepresented.

I'll also add that I do not think Nintendo is trying to fuel racism or hatred. I think it's not that at all. I feel Nintendo is very "safe" when it comes to their titles and they tend to stick to tradition. They rarely introduce prominent new characters, anyways. It has always just been Mario and Luigi and Peach. Rosalina has truly been the most recent one.

I think it's an important topic to discuss. Not disregard as blatant "Nintendo hate". But a topic with many opinions and perspectives.

Re: Review: Kirby: Triple Deluxe (3DS)

Oscarsome

It's a bit disappointing to see KTD not getting higher scores. I suppose it's understandable if the main game feels unmemorable. I do love the classic Kirby formula, though, so I'll pick it up. I think it hasn't quite been overused like the NSMB series has been. I was at least wishing for a 12 hour story mode. For some reason the stages looked longer than other Kirby game stages. Guess there aren't many of them....

Re: North American Retailers List Limited Edition Yoshi 3DS XL

Oscarsome

I don't know what everyone is talking about....
I think it looks great! It has a very clean and simple aesthetic, that speaks volumes. I mean, if you don't like green, what do you want it to be? Grey? Green obviously makes sense here. Yoshi has always been puke green.

I'm going to wait for the Kirby XL. Come on, it's gotta happen!

Re: Nintendo Direct: Trailers Round-Up

Oscarsome

The direct showed some good trailers, but these are all games we have heard about and seen most of already. I was just hoping some of those games would be released much sooner. Essentially, after DK, there's gonna be a terrible drought until late May when MK releases. That's just horrible. I don't understand why Nintendo does this. Even including Kirby or something in March would have been good, but it's pretty much released two weeks before MK. Man...I guess I'm gonna have to buy some old DS games I missed, because Nintendo will not be providing anything for three months.

Re: A Sonic Boom Game is Dashing Towards Wii U and 3DS

Oscarsome

This looks like a total advertisement for the TV show. Those games don't tend to be good. You can tell they're going after a younger audience with the way it looks. The guy even said it was for a "new generation". I'm glad this won't replace the main series, though. But it's a financially smart move to go after the kids market with this advertisement-game.

Re: The Wonderful 101 Demo Coming to Europe Today

Oscarsome

Platinum Games is known for their difficulty. Look at Bayonetta. And can I say this game is just a perfect mix of Bayonetta and Pikmin? Seriously. That's how to describe this game.

I've done only one play through and I liked the game, but I didn't love it. The controls are, well, not that intuitive. They should be, it's just drawing simple shapes, but it's a bit chaotic at times. Not always, but sometimes. And I do like that there's minimal hand-holding, but there need to be times where obvious instructions need to be given (especially in the first stages ever). I had no idea how to save citizens by circling them. Still, I hope this game is successful because it's a fresh experience.

Re: Fan Campaign Starts for Princess Zelda to be Given a "Stronger" - Perhaps Playable - Role

Oscarsome

I think something along the lines of SS would work well. You know, how at the end, you could see what Zelda had been up to? Well, they should have something where certain parts of the game, you could zoom on over to where Zelda was and need to play as her in order to advance the story and show what she is doing while Link is elsewhere.

Or they could have that after you beat the main game. It would be a great option that would only add more depth to the story and gameplay.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Footage Revealed, Mega Man Introduced as a New Challenger

Oscarsome

It looks promising, but I didn't find anything that made me truly excited. It reminds me too much of Brawl...some of the stages are similar. And then Samus is doing what looks like her final smash from Brawl? I sure hope everyone gets new final smashes.

Ehh, I'll need more trailers and info. But I'm sure they can't go wrong. Online is where this game will truly shine.

Re: Super Mario 3D World Coming To Wii U This December

Oscarsome

I was horribly disappointed. This is the 3D Mario that is supposed to define the new console? A sequel from the 3DS? Why wouldn't they just make the sequel on the 3DS and give us that 3D Mario that never seizes to excite us in new ways.

It looks fun, sure, the level design will be great. But goodbye originality for the 3D Marios. Hello the next New Super Mario Bros series.

Re: Ian Livingstone: Nintendo Should Have Their IP On Every Platform

Oscarsome

Gosh, do these people not understand? Nintendo is never going to let any of their IP's propagate any other console. It simply would not work for them. People buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games (as a main incentive, surely they also expect other titles). Nintendo can make their IP's shine brightest in Nintendo-only hardware.

Re: Talking Point: Wii U vs Xbox One - Online Requirements and On-Disc DRM

Oscarsome

@Yamagushi
It is very greedy. I can understand what you're saying: people are entitled to money for their effort. The thing is, games have always been something that you could lend to a friend or that you could still go and waste some money (but not much) to rent a game and try it out. Many of these gaming companies already make enough money. If anything, the used game market can help sales, too.

Re: Video: Sonic Lost World Debut Trailer Blasts Across The Internet

Oscarsome

It looks very interesting. Obviously, they didn't show that much (it all seemed based on an intro level), but it looks pretty good. I have high hopes for it. However, those monsters seem kind of off. They don't seem like they belong in the series....and even the logo is off. It's like a comic book style or something. Let's see what other playable characters emerge!

Re: Talking Point: Wii U vs Xbox One - Online Requirements and On-Disc DRM

Oscarsome

I think any gamer on here can agree that restricting the used games market is ridiculous and the wrong step. If my friend comes over and I'm playing some game and he think it looks cool and wants to play it. I should be able to lend him the game so he can play it on his console or give it to him if I so desire. What's next? Movies? It's just so greedy and such a horrible move.

Re: Feature: A Brief History of Pokémon - Part One

Oscarsome

Ahh, so good old memories! Pokemon Red, I love you. glances at drawer where the game still remains

Also, I searched that seizure-enducing episode from the anime on YouTube and I can definitely see why it gave seizures to the poor Japanese kids.

Re: Consumers Go Crazy For Wii U Following Xbox One Reveal

Oscarsome

However, the American charts for Amazon don't show the same thing. If it were caused by the Microsoft reveal, then surely the American audience would also display the same behavior?

If that's because of a price knock down, as @Peach64 says, then that would explain it.

Re: Talking Point: The Wii U's Next-Gen Challenge Starts to Take Shape

Oscarsome

The Wii U is actually in a great place now. I have a lot of hope for it. Xbox One will not allow people to play 360 games and it will make people pay to play used games (or any game not their own). The Xbox One has killed itself with many gamers, choosing to emphasize TV connectivity, which many gamers don't care as much about (and the Wii U already has it: TVii).

I think this generation will be all Sony and Nintendo. But Nintendo is gonna be doing great come this fall. They will have the upper hand, because there will be virtually NO exclusive titles for the PS4 or XboxOne. Nintendo will have A LOT to offer there. Mario Kart, 3D Mario, Smash Bros, Zelda, Wonderful 101, Sonic exclusive title, etc. I don't see how the rest can beat that. And any other titles will probably be multi-platform, so Nintendo will get them (like Rayman Legends). Don't forget that the other guys will be much more expensive. Nintendo, I see you prospering.

Re: Senior EA Employee Caught Out Criticising Wii U On Twitter

Oscarsome

Yeah, the Wii U is struggling. Everyone knows that. EA leaving Nintendo is because the Wii U is just not making money, so why would they waste time and money releasing games for it? That makes sense, sure. However, this guy is acting like a child having a tantrum. You have to be professional. You are in the public eye and represent an enormous company; you need to be smart and classy. He just lost credibility and respect. Way to burn some bridges, Summerwill.

Re: CNN Money: Nintendo Is "Tone Deaf" To Industry Trends And Has "Lost Touch With Reality"

Oscarsome

Whatever the heck CNN is, this article IS true. They aren't saying anything crazy and controversial about Nintendo and the Wii U. It IS doing bad. Nintendo IS making the same mistakes it has made before. They seem to be completely ignoring everything, because they aren't doing anything. This is true. It pains me so much that I bought a Wii U. It has been gathering dust for a while now.

Didn't Iwata apologize for not having any games in April or something? Or the early part of the year? Well, there still aren't games. There is nothing. I guess he meant to say "Sorry, there won't be any new software for the next seven months, apologies, we just had no idea we launched a brand new console." The next Nintendo title is Pikmin in August. So, yeah, seven months later, we get ONE game.

Re: Talking Point: The Wii U Virtual Console Has Started, But Not With a Bang

Oscarsome

I'm waiting for all these mistakes Nintendo keeps making to actually be a part of their master plan to bring back sales on the Wii U, but, alas, it isn't so. Everything they keep doing just digs the Wii U further and further into its grave. Nintendo wants to make money, but I don't see them actually attempting to sell Wii U hardware and software.

Re: Game & Wario to Retail at $39.99 in the U.S.

Oscarsome

Ehh, this game looks like total garbage. It seems like it was quickly put together as an excuse for a launch title. I honestly think it was SUPPOSED to be a launch title. That's why the games are so "meh" and not much other content is packed into it. The original will always be the best. And the DS one. They need to go back to that formula.
Nintendo knows this, so they put down the price. Smart?
