Love Rosalina's design and voice, and all the lumas. Super fun seeing all the cameos and inspiration from so many of the 3D Mario games.
Really dislike Bowser Jr.'s voice but I'll probably get used to it.
I probably won't watch it in theaters simply because it's likely to be as shallow as the first. Fun, certainly! But lacked any kind of satisfying plot development or character growth to make me want to watch it again (which is something animated films can most certainly do). But I do look forward to seeing it eventually.
Someone has been modding Paper Mario into Smash Bros. with references to every Paper Mario game and just released a new video today. I had no idea it was the 25th anniversary! Such a good game.
I can agree that Air Ride and Top Ride are pretty limited in their overall enjoyment and quality.
I cannot agree, however, that the game is bad. City Trial is fantastic and has fueled probably a hundred hours of play with my siblings, whether battling it out, exploring the city to discover secrets, playing in the battle modes, optimizing strategies, putting together ridiculous builds, shooting for various achievements, figuring out which boxes hold stats, power ups, and the Legendary Air Ride Machine pieces, in which locations those specific boxes appear. So much potential for mastery.
For City Trial alone, I find Kirby Air Ride to be a brilliant game. Here's hoping we get even more of it!
@Lady_rosalina One theory I've heard is that, just like how Cranky Kong is arcade DK, maybe the blond Lady from arcade DK is Pauline's mother (and maybe Jumpman is Mario's father, haha). Probably not going to happen, but I'd be down for it.
(Not that Nintendo has ever kept a solid canon, but it's still fun.)
@SuperBro64 Yuuup. One of my biggest gripes with the game, honestly. It's bizarre how inaccessible turning off the accessibility options are in MK8D.
I'm glad to see big, clear button prompts and menus in Mario Kart World, at least.
I guess if someone really struggles with video games, having them all on by default means they don't have to go through the options, but if they're competent with games, they should have the skills necessary to navigate to them and turn them off. I think the real problem is lack of visibility that they're on in the first place.
I thought GameChat only worked with registered Friends. Are you able to use GameChat with strangers?
If not, I don't see why filtering by default would be expected. And that's coming from a guy who refuses to watch movies or play games with strong swearing.
(Though I could see some people wanting an option if they have a friend they like playing with but who has a sailor's tongue they aren't comfortable with.)
I find 200cc exhilarating! Having to be totally focused, learning to brake-drift and react to turns as things are just zipping by...Some of my most fun single-player experience with the game. There are some wild shortcuts that become possible too, which can be fun.
I could see it being a good fit for Knockout Tour, since you're essentially just playing the intermissions, which have pretty long stretches. I won't be heartbroken if they don't include it, but I do hope they add it down the like in a free update like with Mario Kart 8.
My family has tried to use Zoom to play with my brother elsewhere in the country, but it's SO clunky to set up and position the laptop, and we have to turn the game volume completely off or we can't hear each other at all.
Just pressing a couple buttons to instantly connect would be amazing. Minimalizing friction makes it much easier to connect and spend time in that way.
The big problem I see is adoption rate. Unless I have other friends or family who also get a Switch 2, it'll be useless for me.
Question, though: I legitimately don't understand how Discord accomplishes the same things. Is everyone who says that sitting at a desk with a capture card and multi-connectivity headphones or something? Can someone explain?
I wish there were some way to know what other USB-C cameras might work before buying one...software drivers are tricky, though, of course. Hopefully it's as versatile as the mouse/keyboard compatibility.
That is very validating to know I'm not the only one who keeps pressing in the sticks accidentally.
I've actually been bullied multiple times because I've complained about having no way for me to stop accidentally opening menus or taunting when using a single Joycon, like in Smash Bros. I get if you don't like me complaining, but please don't laugh at and harass me for not being able to instantly break a decade-long habit of happening to hold controllers tightly in fast-paced games. I think it came from playing with GameCube controllers that had their pads broken off for years, as well as playing Kid Icarus: Uprising and Smash Bros. for 3DS for years further—pressing down tightly on joystick or circle pad is practically required to move those joysticks or the circle pad quickly and reliably.
Anyway, ramble over; looking forward to being able to disable that for relevant games!
For a moment, I thought Alex was retiring from Nintendo Life and I was about to cry. And then I did anyway! Thanks Alex for being such a lovely person.

Re: Nintendo Showcases Switch 2's Fancy New Battery Charge Settings
Love how snappy the sound design is, even when toggling switches. The gradient around the current selection is pretty slick too.
