What is "proto metroidvania"?

Sonic jump'n'run games never made sense and Sonic racing games neither.

When it's about Nintendo, it is ALWAYS only one extreme. Either it is "Wow, new Metroid, new Mario Kart, new Zelda, new F-Zero, new whatever is coming all in the next two months!!!" or it is "Wow, Nintendo is crap and is releasing only crappy or old games!!!"

No, I still say BotW 2 plays a few 100 years before or after the first game or in some kind of parallel world.

Yes, we can only wait and see. But one thing is for sure: It will NOT be the same environment as in BotW and I'm very curious what Nintendo is cooking.

I assume you mean the divine beasts? They were made of a special material where Link couldn't climb, which made sense in the world of BotW.
But how would you do that in a classic dungeon with normal surfaces like rock, earth, stone, and so on? How would you explain, that Link can climb basically everywhere in the over world, but can't do it in a dungeon?

Skyward Sword has the best controls of a Zelda game to date. But Nintendo should definitely add some QoL improvements, like letting Phi talk way less.

Sadly, even if you get the game some day you probably will never enjoy it, because your mind is already set that way. You'll play it and instead of seeing the good things, you will always search and cling to the bad or not so good things.

I am sure it wasn't the scarecrow's song. Man, I wish I just could remember even a part of the songs name, but after over 20 years...

I got the US version of OoT basically day one back then.
And some day, I played some random notes on the ocarina. I played and played and played and suddenly, a song registered as a legit song (played alone with the typical pop-up "You played this-and-this song), BUT it was no regular song and therefore nothing happened.
At least, that's how I remembering it. Did anyone else here heard about this or maybe experienced it him-/herself?

All right. I may be the odd one, but I still say it's dumb to rate something basically from the beginning.
Be it a game after only not even the beginning chapter, a TV show after the first one or two episodes, a book after five pages or whatever.
Also YOU were the one who basically declared TTYD is better than TOK in everything.

It isn't "slow and weak", it is just the beginning. Would I stop playing a game before it even really starts, I would give almost every game I played a 6 or 7/10 max.

All in all, Nintendo are simply the best in the gaming business.

Of course you should finish a game before rating it.
Maybe I'm the odd one here, but I belt a game is the summary of all of it's parts and therefore should be rated as such.
Personally, if I would have give it a score, based at where you are at the moment, I probably gave it a 7/10 or so (mainly because it was still very early in the game and also because I suck a sliding puzzles). But in the end it was easily a 9/10.

There are many very good tracks, but unfortunately I can't name any of them or I would give out spoilers.😅
But one of them is a certain stationary very late in the game.

So you basically are just at the beginning.
I finished The Origami King after around 45 hours and almost 100% and I can say it beats TTYD in overall pacing, Boss fights, final boss fight, exploration, music, end game and it had more surprising moments for me.

Oh, and TTYD doesn't beat it at every turn. That's very, very, very exaggerated.

Rating for The Origami King is clearly to low. And I bet, many around here, who rated it low, didn't even play it.

Maybe for christmas. Only problem is, I need a new computer to.😔

I know they were expensive and had way less storage than CDs, but man, I LOVED those cartridges.
They felt substantial and the "clack" when you inserted one in your N64... absolutely great. 🥰 (plus there were no loading times)

Better pacing, better boss fights, better music, better final boss fight, better end game, I (mostly) wasn't forced to battle regular enemies.
And it had, honestly, more "Yeah, cool!"-moments for me.

BTW: Why didn't you ask, why I rated TTYD the same as TOK?
