Re: Random: Check Out These Mock-Ups Of GameCube For Nintendo Switch Online

Miraj2081

@russell-marlow Not having Star Fox Adventures at least is a notable absent entry. Not saying that Custom Robo, Kirby's Air Ride or Doshin the Giant don't deserve recognition, but none of those three are likely to be Day One games. Adventures was a very well-known Gamecube game, even if some disliked the circumstances of its creation.

Re: Soapbox: 4 Years On And Switch Finally Got Bluetooth Audio, So Voice Chat Next?

Miraj2081

For a company as rich and powerful as Nintendo, they often seem to take the cheap and lazy route and are rewarded for it because people give them a pass. They shouldn't have to be dragged kicking and screaming to include modern QoL or basic feature sets, but here we are. Putting pressure on them can work, if NoA and NoE lets NoJ know what we're thinking.

4 years to get bluetooth options that should've been there day one is pretty ridiculous, though. I would ask for themes like even the 3DS could handle, but I don't want a Nintendo programmer to pull a muscle or anything.

Re: Platinum Would "Definitely" Port Star Fox Zero To Switch, If Given The Opportunity

Miraj2081

Thought of Platinum being allowed to work on the Zero again is exciting, as they can fix a lot of the issues and restrictions that were imposed on them, now that Miyamoto & Nintendo saw how negatively the audience reacted to their gimmick controls and SF64 retread. Maybe they could pull a Bowser's Fury and do a stand-alone expansion that tries new mechanics. Star Fox character action game, anyone?

Re: Former Star Fox Programmer Would Be Interested In Making A New Entry Without The "Gimmicks"

Miraj2081

Only if they made a Star Fox 3 in a kind of retro style, and maintained it as an evolution of the SNES games.

Otherwise, I think the rail shooter, flight combat genre is largely unpopular, aside from very specific IPs aimed at diehard audiences (Ace Combat and Star Wars Squadrons, for instance). The Nintendo audience seems to be more into character-based action/adventure games, so Star Fox should try that route if they want to reach a modern crowd.

Star Fox 64 is almost 25 years old. Many Nintendo fans today weren't even born when that game came out. They likely have no nostalgia for it.

Re: We Could Have Had A New "Ultra-Realistic" F-Zero On Switch, But Nintendo Turned It Down

Miraj2081

So Nintendo:

1) Didn't want to invest in an old IP, despite constantly pushing other old IPs that had middling success before (Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, etc.) until they were popular.
2) Didn't have faith in the guy who helped put freaking 3D graphics on the SNES
3) Are cheapskates and don't want to invest in what likely would not have been a big-budgeted game, despite being Japan's richest company.

Sounds about right.

Re: Potential Switch Port Round-Up - The Wii U Games That Haven't Come To Switch

Miraj2081

I think it's highly likely we'll see the Zelda remasters and Xenoblade X come to Switch at some point. They're easier to port since they don't rely on the second screen so much.

I would love to see Woolly World, Kirby's Epic Yarn, and Colour Splash get ported, maybe with small new features just to make them a little more palatable for a repurchase. Maybe they can adjust some of the battle mechanics in Colour Splash, since that seems to be the game's main issue.

My dream is that we'll see a Star Fox on Switch, and while I'm super mixed on Zero even without the awkward controls, if they were to add more story content (introducing the Assault characters, perhaps) and an online multiplayer mode, it would be worthwhile for "core" Star Fox fans. Still, I think they should do something new with the series and drop the rail shooter angle, as it's just not a widely popular genre anymore.
