Re: ARMS Keeps On Swinging Thanks To A Group Of Dedicated Fans

Minfinity

@NinjaAceTrainer I haven't been to any competitions, but I know many who prefer motion (myself included). It boils down to preference; there's a bit of an edge for character manoeuvring with pro (which is still fine with motion with practice), but the curving of punches - especially the more curvy ones - is much better on the joy cons (for me at least)

Re: Soapbox: What The Upcoming Pokémon Switch RPG Can Learn From Recent Pokémon Games

Minfinity

I agree with a lot - especially with the legendaries and the feeling dropping from animal companions to battle machines.

Hopefully the rumours of a different battle system are true to help mix the formula a bit. Nintendo has seemed to be following a trend of change, and it would be cool if their highest grossing second party gets on board with that.

I'm probably going to get it the game anyway, but at least make this one more challenging!

Re: Feature: Memorable Games of 2017 - ARMS

Minfinity

love this game.

I actually did some number crunching, and for the platform it was on, this game did very well as a fighter. Its sales numbers are comparable to the latest Tekken, SF, etc., and those are well established multi-platforms!

Re: A New Stage Is Coming To ARMS, And It Has Splendid Pillars

Minfinity

@Heavyarms55 I would say healthy! I play online a lot and don't feel like I run into the same people, nor do I need to wait long to find someone. The skill level varies, but I find there's a good mix of ability out there.

I think lots of the hype seems to be lower simply because it has lots to compete with now (same year release as Splatoon 2, Zelda, and Mario); as a new IP it maybe could have done with an earlier release date so it could establish itself further before everything else jumped in (it's not like Nintendo fans are used to having so much so soon!). That said, the base that it does have is quite loyal.

Re: Here's The New Fighter Coming To Switch Brawler ARMS

Minfinity

Nice!! Keeps up with the pattern of looking nothing like anyone else, yet fitting right in. The weapons are cool editions, and the ability to block in mid-air is interesting.

In a way I'm kinda glad that Nintendo has had problems delivering my Splatoon 2 pre-order since it allows me to avoid the struggle balancing time!

Re: ARMS Balance Update Is Coming Next Week

Minfinity

Yeah, they previously said balancing will be biffs instead of nurfs... it would be nice to see Byte and Barc get some more umph! I guess they can't change too much about the concept, but maybe more HP for Barc or a stronger throw?

Re: Poll: One Week On - How Do You Feel About the Nintendo Switch?

Minfinity

Right - on a non-related note, I ordered the limited edition of Zelda thinking it was the special edition (cause I'm a Canadian in the UK and didn't realise it was a Canada/US thing only), and now I have a figurine that is certainly nice, but I have no real place for. I was primarily getting the special edition for the case, so does anyone have the special edition feel like making a trade?

On a more related note: Switch is a blast - I have Zelda and FAST RMX, and have zero complaints. Can't wait for more in the next couple months, as I plan to get Pocket Rumble and have a download code for Yooka Laylee on the way

Re: First Impressions: Back on Track with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Minfinity

@Manjushri Technically you can't say there are no new courses when they created battle mode (I don't think the number of tracks in there was mentioned).

More than anything, I think the purpose of this is to offer a fantastic game to a wider audience than the Wii U and people who didn't get the DLC (which if you didn't, this is actually a decent deal). It could be argued as well that as an early effort, this demonstrates the multiplayer capabilities of the Switch in a way that was efficient for Nintendo to make, and still offers something for those that bought the game previously.
While it sucks that there isn't more content for the loyals who bought it all when it first came out, it is an understandable business move - like how they HDd Zelda Windwaker and TP: a quick MK fix for old fans and a chance for those that didn't play the original. We aren't the target market for this.

Re: E3 2016: Check Out the Paper Mario: Color Splash E3 Trailer

Minfinity

@Einherjar yeah, I wasn't referring to the battle system in the bracket of creative things within the game (though I guess it is original).

I didn't mind the system as much as you seem to have, but what made the game worthwhile for me was wandering through the levels and enjoying the aesthetics and quirkiness of the game - both of which seem to be brought to a higher level in this entry.

My thoughts at least

Re: E3 2016: Check Out the Paper Mario: Color Splash E3 Trailer

Clearly not TYD, but they didn't try to be like it. It seems like a solid development from SS; say what you will about the battle system, but that entry had some very creative/charming moments and levels. From the footage, the humour is still there, and that's key to the franchise as well. Nobody can complain about the art style or music either. May need a little push to get me to buy it, but I'm optimistic!
