@RainbowGazelle Neo TWEWY has a completely different playstyle to the first one; they've reworked the battle mechanics to make it appropriate for the console, and while it's not as innovative as the first, it's still pretty cool what they did. If you have other concerns, fair beans, but just a heads up in case the control scheme for TWEWY FR was the major turn off
Whoa. Pretty hefty update! If I didn't have a lot going on right now, this would probably be enough to tip me over the edge, but I'll probably wait til next spring for it to go 33% off or something.
People on about how they are finding it difficult to show sympathy to a super-rich company are missing the point here. Yes, higher-ups should be accountable for things like budgeting, staffing, etc., but when it comes down to the individual devs that are working on the game, nobody deserves the kind of rage responses they receive. Not to say one's work can't be criticized fairly, but for real, I think we all know there's a population who goes way past that.
Shame my fear came true. I played the demo wired and just got used to the movement feeling a bit sluggish, but it timed before it got to any real combat (bit dodgy that they set it up like that). Ah well. I guess I'll have to add this to the list of games I must pick up once I get a PS5 or XSX/S
Nice! I heard a lot of great things about it. I'm not sure why, but I struggle to enjoy many isometric camera games - I even have trouble connecting with Bastion and am scared to try Hades and dislike it.
@CharlieGirl I think the next smash is going to be quite different from this. I'm imagining a much smaller roster, but more room for customization/depth
Reality for me: yes, I will still get and think it's fine. 1) I'll probably have more reasons to stick with the NSO EP after a year (I mean, NSO launched with just 20 NES games, so there's bound to be more coming for EP) 2) I have a full fam account, many will use it and save money 3) even if I back out of EP, odds are I will have gotten everything I wanted from the DLC a year from then
As someone who has owned every Nintendo console other than an N64 and with 5 people who play AC in my NSO family, this actually is a great deal for me.
I know that my case is not that of everyone's though. All the same, time will tell with what else gets added. Compare NSO when it launched to now, and it's definitely more worth the price than it was at launch
Nice! I Kickstarted this and am glad to see it turned out well. From the review, it looks like the things important to me were done well while the cons don't bother me so much. Looking forward to this!
@IronMan30 It's amazing. If you haven't played/have no access to the first one (and don't feel like buying on Switch), I recommend watching a summary vid on YouTube or watching the anime first. You'll still be able to follow the plot if you don't, but you'll miss a lot of the weight behind events/scenarios.
I've been very satisfied with my mClassic, which I use for my Switch and GameCube. The titles (that are many) that go 720p and below look much much cleaner (and I wish more were showcased here like Hyrule Warriors or Spyro Reignited Trilogy). 4 player CTR is MUCH more playable thanks to everything being more defined. Loving the transformations on GC games too. Yeah, it's a luxury item, but it certainly does what it advertises.
@JedRock If you already have it, I definitely encourage you to give it a go for a few more levels; yeah, lots of the platforming bits are clunky, but once you get more morphs, purchase abilities, and adjust to the flow of the combat, it ends up feeling amazing (at least I found that). It took me probably until the end of the 3rd operation to start feeling it, but with all the things to uncover in levels, I had to let myself shrug off the low rankings and see it as replay value once I got good.
I'm not in graphic design or anything, but while they're posed pretty much exactly the same, aren't there quite a few differences still? The lighting is different, creases in Mario's glove, eye iris patterns, ear shape, button texture, waistline, etc.
Obviously, if Nintendo did take it, it's wrong and it should be removed, but do those kinds of differences not mean anything? I.e. it's a pretty generic pose of a simple character; could their image just have been similar?
@AnnoyingFrenzy my understanding is that they activity choose not to. This allows the studio to go in directions that Nintendo wouldn't, which is great for the studio's creative independence, and great for Nintendo to build a relationship with more studios; it extends the scope of their library that way.
I think the frustration is totally reasonable, don't get me wrong, but could the tournament still have gone if they just agreed to not have Melee? I mean, I'm not informed enough on the legality rules in the US surrounding mods to discuss the fairness of it, but is anyone actually surprised that N doesn't want a mod of their game for a tournament they're sponsoring?
But yeah, they do a pretty solid job of cleaning things up to 1080p (or 1440p if you have a supporting monitor). Some games won't see a massive difference, but games like CTR, XBC2, Spyro Reignited, and other 720p native or less looks much better. I used it for Astral Chain too (900p), and that extra bit of sharpness and AA was a lovely coat of frosting on the cake.
I have an mClassic to help boost the resolution when docked, but that's a shame about handheld. I'm sure it's playable, and I guess we don't know how often it will be that low, but yeah..
@g_ruz I think we still could.. Sakurai has been doing announcements outside of Nintendo Directs for a while, so the difference might just be that it's in his living room
@rockonnaissance Helix wouldn't be Helix because he can't stretch, Master Mummy and Max Brass wouldn't have weight, Mechanica and Dr. Coyal wouldn't have jets, Min Min wouldn't kick, Ninjara wouldn't vanish, Misango wouldn't use mask, the list goes on
@Spoony_Tech I'm going to keep responding to these sentiments: I doubt it.
Sakurai puts so much effort into making a character reflect their source, and to strip fighters of their abilities by making them skins wouldn't reflect that. There are too many body types to really make that work in a way that gives characters authenticity.
Even past that element, removing abilities would also detract from movesets. Min min for example could have kicks for jabs and tilts; Twintelle could have a witch-time; Max Brass could have rage and super-armour.
I could be wrong, as Sakurai makes magic, but I just don't see it working in a way that's exciting in this case.
I'm actually glad this is free because I'm still a bit skeptical as to how fun this will be. I like the style enough, but the movement looks a little slow/clunky to me from the trailer.
@KingBowser I think with the state of things in the world, it's quite possible that BotW 2 (and other titles) could still be well into development but they didn't want to risk saying and potentially push it back due to the virus. This was shadow dropped as a mini direct, so I wouldn't go all doom and gloom about it yet. We don't know what's happening past June except for Pokemon DLC in Autumn; even then, there's nothing concrete past the 29th of May. Nintendo has been bottom heavy with releases for the past couple years, so more will come and knowing about it won't make it any sooner.
@WebHead Obviously it's a person-to-person taste, but to be fair, it's a shadow-dropped mini direct; they didn't advertise it to be a mind-blowing extravaganza with two days in advance for you to make time for it. Expectations for anything more are because of the overhype of others.
@johnvboy we are at an agreement. And in this specific case, I don't think the censorship would make anyone who found the games premise questionable think it's ok to buy it now.
@johnvboy In case that wink did not mean you're joking (cause you never know with some people): the context of responding to the thought that Christianity/religion are the reason this game is being censorship, it actually is totally reasonable to say what I believe because it supports my argument that religion has nothing to do with the censorship.
In case your wink meant you were joking: GAH! FOILED AGAIN!
@TromboneGamer I think that was Indipogo - similar concept of an indie brawler, but you are always jumping and are trying to bounce on your opponents' heads or something.
@Kalmaro would be nice if Nintendo would buy a number of studios... Didn't they say something about it not being their style and allowing the companies to have their own autonomy for creative directions?
@EVIL-C In case the point of my original post wasn't clear, I'll clear up a bit. I probably don't actually need to spell it out that the things you listed are not good things. I'm more confused about the hypocrasy of asserting your moral views so strongly, agreeing with a voice for people to express their own moral standards, while also agreeing that certain people shouldn't (which I only bring up in light of you responding to the post to leave religion out of it). Before I get called out for it, here's my actual view: I am a Christian that believes we have free will; so while I agree with the idea that there are things we shouldn't expose ourselves to, I think people have the right make the personal choice as to whether or not they do. So we agree about the censorship to a certain extent.
All I really mean is that we actually can keep religion out of this.
@EVIL-C Where in my comment do I say they were ok?
You provided a list of real events that should have sensorship if depicted and that if it's fictional, is fair game. That is you setting a standard.
@HarryHyruleHero I actually think Pixar would be the best of those three at doing it since they have experience with silent protagonists/minimal dialogue for movies that have an impact. I see where you're coming from though in that they also take a massive focus on character development, which isn't exactly what the Mario franchise is all about.
@Zeldafan79 Might be controversial, but I would think the best way around it is to have a Zelda movie where Link isn't the main character. He would certainly have to have a presence and some connection to whoever the main character might be... I guess in similar vein to how Breath of the Wild's main plot points revolve around Zelda herself as the main character rather than Link.
Contrary to some comments, I don't mind that all these segments of the interview are being broken into smaller articles. It's likely that I won't care about every single discussion point, so it's nice that I can quickly pick and choose what sections I want to read rather than surf one massive article. This is just my personal taste so others may disagree, but thought I would voice this nonetheless.
@yuwarite Patent images never show the exact image of the product so companies can fulfill their requirements to make patents public and still surprise when they unveil it once it's finished (I.e., check early patents of the Switch). I imagine the final will have a bit more originality and polish.
