Capcom has just announced a new collection of classic titles is coming to Switch, and the pack includes a coin-op game that has remained exclusive to arcades for 26 years.
Red Earth (AKA Warzard) was the first game to use Capcom's CPS-3 arcade hardware (the same tech that famously powered Street Fighter III) and arrived in 1996. It was never ported to any home system at the time, so its inclusion in Capcom Fighting Collection ends a quarter-of-a-century of coin-op exclusivity for the game.
Capcom Fighting Collection includes:
- Darkstalkers
- Night Warriors
- Vampire Savior
- Vampire Hunter 2
- Vampire Savior 2
- Red Earth / War-Zard
- Cyberbots
- Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
- Hyper Street Fighter II
- Super Gem Fighter MiniMix
Online play is included for all games, with rollback netcode in place. There will also be training modes, achievements and a range of screen filters to tinker with. To cap it all off, a museum mode offers 500 pieces of art and 400 music tracks to listen to.
Capcom Fighting Collection arrives on Switch, Steam, PS4 and Xbox One on 24th June, 2022.

I was considering picking up Cyberbots on the Capcom Stadium thingy, but I'll just hold out for this collection instead. A bit too Darkstalkers-heavy for my tastes, but I'm certain other people will be quite happy with that!
I wish this included 3rd Strike Online Edition too, but overall, it seems like a good package.
Oh thank God, I was worried there weren't enough ways to play Street Fighter II on the Switch.
Seriously though, I'm not a big fan of fighting games but it's great to see publishers putting so much effort into retro compilations like this.
This is a very good collection of games! Stoked to see Gem Fighter and Puzzle Fighter. Warzard and Cyberbots is a lovely inclusion. And Darkstalkers is back! WOOT!
@EarthboundBenjy, well, 3rd Strike does have online features in the 30th Anniversary Collection as well. I guess they didn't want to have repeating titles (though I guess some people might see Hyper SFII as repetition). Speaking of Hyper SF2, I wonder if it'll come with all the extras it originally had, like the censored version of the anime movie...
@Mach_Rider
That's true, but the SF 30th Anniversary collection doesn't have rollback.
Nice collection, great to see all the Darkstalkers games come to a moden platform. Definitely picking this up.
Into the wish list you go my child.
It's funny how I was playing Vampire Chronicle on Dreamcast yesterday and then Capcom went and announced a Darkstalkers release for the first time in nearly 10 years! A very happy coincidence.
Great collection especially as it contains Red Earth & Puzzle fighter…..now all we need is another collection with Alien Vs Predator and a port of Street Fighter 4 arcade edition ( which is the far superior game to 5 ).
@HamatoYoshi is SF IV Arcade edition better than Ultra SFIV?
Will be great to play a Dark Stalkers game finally, also had my eye on a copy of Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo on the GBA so nice to be able to play it on the Switch instead. And all 10 games online with rollback net code, Wow!
I had little to no interest in the Beat ‘Em Up Collection (Double Dragon/Kunio-kun have me set there), but this looks more promising.
I might bite if there’s a physical release (likely a Japanese exclusive again).
Famous last words but I'd be more hopeful of a physical release for this, as it has a Street Fighter game in it. We got a physical release in the west for Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection after all (and I've been playing it ever since).
The Darkstalkers games alone are worth the price of admission.
Well done Capcom, preserving games with extras.
Darkstalkers collection, hell yes!
Now we just need Capcom to re-release MvC 2.
I wish they’d remaster the PlayStation version of super puzzle fighter. It had a nice challenge mode that I enjoyed playing plus the sound test.
Omg, super puzzle fighter 2 turbo! With online play <3
Frankly I was more excited for this announcement than Ryu wearing sandals.
@AG_Awesome It says the collection has 400 music tracks to listen to so you should be able to hear listen to the music for it.
Darkstalkers set makes it for me - spent many hours playing them on my Saturn.
i saw a baffling amount of people complaining this didnt have mvc2 (along with other similar out of place picks like power stone and rival schools) in it which, barring the legal issues, is a series with enough games for its own collection and would be remarkably out of place on a collection of games no higher than CPSIII
@Edd-O physical is already confirmed
Hm... No JoJo fighting games, no SNK vs. Capcom games, no Marvel vs. Capcom games, no Star Gladiator games... "sigh" Also, Vampire and Darkstalkers are the same games, but with different titles! How Capcom can count them as the different games?!
@AG_Awesome yeah, and the PS1 version of SF Alpha 3 had a really ace World Tour mode where you would gain extra abilities as you progressed through, and eventually you'd unlock Guile
I'm going to be all over this.
And once again, Power Stone fans get left out…. ☹️
@Edd-O I’m not sure I played ‘Ultra’……did it have more characters? Think I’d moved on from PS3 by then!
Like yourself I’m incredibly excited for this collection.
@HamatoYoshi yep it had 44 characters compared to Arcade's 39.
Excellente! I pre-ordered Fire emblem Warriors Three Hopes, so I'll try to get this too.
Now from Capcom for Switch we need Magic sword, Three Wonders, Eco Fighters, Rival Schools, Power stone, Project Justice.
This could have at least included Slam Masters and Ring of Destruction.
But I'll enjoy this.
This collection makes me incredibly happy. Red Earth was a game I only discovered a few months ago and I talked with folk on here about how much I'd love to play it.
This is a really great collection with a lot of variety among the games.
I saw Red Earth, I'm buying this. Online will probably suck though but still.
I'm not into fighting games so much but I will definitely be picking this up. It looks like a great collection. So cool.
This is a nice collection, can't wait to play the Darkstalkers games again my only issue is why another version of SFII? Where's Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold and Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX? Where's Saturday Night Slam Masters, I mean how many version of SFII do we had on Switch now? Also where's Power Stone 1 & 2, Rival Schools 1 & 2, and Star Gladiator 1 & 2?
@Vyacheslav333 Vampires is just the Japanese name for Darkstalkers (similar to how Mega Man was Rockman in Japan). It is as follow:
Vampires: The Night Warriors = Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors
Vampire Hunter = Night Warriors: Darkstalker's Revenge (this is essentially Darkstalkers 2)
Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire = Darkstalkers 3
Vampire Savior 2 = Darkstalkers 3 Plus (had it got a western release for console)
Vampire Hunter 2: Darkstalker's Revenge = Night Warriors 2: The Return of Darkstalkers (essentially Darkstalkers 4 if you want to call it that or Darkstalkers 2.5 since it took place between Darkstalkers 2 & 3).
Only reason it's called Vampire Savior here was because the arcade version never left Japan. When Capcom port the game to PS1 and release it outside Japan they renamed it to Darkstalkers 3. Vampire Savior 2 is just an updated version of Vampire Savior 1 but it never left Japan until now. Vampire Hunter 2 is the sequel to Vampire Hunter 1, it too never left Japan until now. What you're getting here is the two Darkstalkers arcade games that did left Japan and the three that did not hence the different names.
@EarthboundBenjy SF30th has rollback but it's poorly implemented. It's using the ggpo engine.
Where's SF alpha 3 Max and Marvel VS Capcom 2? Lame...
I definitely will grab this. I hope there is a phyaical
No Power Stone, no care.
ANOTHER collection? They are milking and milking and milking.
Day One for me. Night Warriors with rollback without having to go get absolutely destroyed by Fightcade guys? I’m down.
@dr-gorgo
To be fair most of the games in this collection haven’t been rereleased in over a decade.
@dr-gorgo good thing I like milk then.
Do you also complain when arcade archives releases a different arcade game every week?
@Clyde_Radcliffe Odd how they include that game in here as Super Puzzle Fighters II Turbo is the only one that's not a fighting game but a puzzle game instead.
Definitely excited for this one. I just wish they added rollback netcode to the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection.
@Specter_of-the_OLED exactly! SF already has it's own collection, they should've put Rival Schools or Saturday Night Slam Masters, great series that needs some love. Still a very good collection and a Day 1 for me, specially Gem Fighters and Puzzle Figther, never expected to play them again.
It would be amazing to get any Marvel fighting game, but I guess copyright is holding them back.
no rival schools, no buy. I do love darkstalkers though...
would a fighting game collection have more fighters and stages than smash ultimate?
Awesome, always wanted to Play Red Earth and nice to have Darkstalkers as well.
But is Capcom ever going to release more games for Arcade Stadium?
@Mach_Rider
It’s literally 50% Dark Stalkers, plus Dark Stalkers characters show up in a couple of the non-Dark Stalkers games.
Still looks like a great collection though. I love that retro collections have become a thing again.
@Specter_of-the_OLED Well... Okay...
@Specter_of-the_OLED
For the 3D games, I hope they make a separate collection for them one day. Power Stone, Tech Romancer, Project Justice, etc.
I could be wrong but this also has to be a first time a Darkstalkers game comes to a Nintendo system? I can’t recall a Darkstalker game on Nintendo, ever.
only heard of Darkstalkers and Street Fighter here, sounds cool though!
would have been more delighted with MvC games included though
They should just release these game as dlc on capcom arcade stadium.
I'd also like a compilation of Capcom/Marvel collaborations, but with the mouse in charge that might be tricky. Or easy. Not sure which.
@Pak-Man just imagine, they have X Men, X Men vs Street fighter, Marvel Super Heroes (personal favorite!), Marvel vs Capcom, a collection like that would be amazing! But yeah, with all the copyrights involved, I don't think we'll see it soon, or ever.
What is rollback netcode?
Can't say I know much about the games other than Darkstalkers and Street Fighter (bar maybe Vampire Savior tingling my memory banks) but they all look great. Good news.
Capcom needs to revive some of their other more neglected IP's on Switch like a new:
... Wun can only hope.
@LEGEND_MARIOID
The original release of Vampire Savior was released in the United States as Darkstalkers 3.
In Japan the series is known as Vampire.
These are the original arcade releases. Vampire Savior had two Japanese exclusive rereleases on arcade. Vampire Hunter 2 and Vampire Savior 2 are both variations of Vampire Savior or the original arcade release of Darkstalkers 3. They added and took away characters and also swapped in backgrounds and music between them.
Vampire Hunter 2, for example, is basically Vampire Savior except that it uses the stages and music from Vampire Hunter, which we got in the West as Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge. It also messed with the character roster a bit.
Vampire Savior 2 is Vampire Savior again except that it has new artwork and music and messed around with the character roster, again.
The issue is that Capcom clearly wanted to use the arcade releases for all of these games, but for Vampire Savior/Darkstalkers 3 that is complicated because there were three different versions and none of them had the entire Savior cast.
The only version of the game that is “feature complete” is Vampire Savior EX. Which was released only on PlayStation. We also got that version in the United States. Darkstalkers 3 for PS1 is a localization of Vampire Savior EX, not the original Darkstalkers 3 arcade game.
They could have used the PS1 version, but that would have hurt the presentation of the game. The PS1 release had significantly cut down sprite animations to fit the limited 2 MB ram of the PS1. There was a Saturn release of Vampire Savior (original) that was arcade perfect, but the Saturn never got the EX release.
So Capcom is in a hard spot with Darkstalkers 3. EX never had an arcade conversion. Since they wanted to use the Arcade ROMs, they went with just releasing all three Vampire Savior releases in this collection.
Sorry about how long winded that was. I’m a Darkstalkers fanboy. That was as simple as I could break down Darkstalkers 3.
this seems cool. Will get on Switch
@RushDawg Definitely, totally forgot about Tech Romancer, they could also throw in the Street Fighter EX games and Final Fight Revenge on there as well. Then add in Gotcha Force as a bonus title. I would buy that collection day one if it had all of that included.
@Specter_of-the_OLED final fight revenge would definitely be the street fighter 1 of a potential 3D compilation lol
Not a fan of capcoms fighting games would've liked a mortal Kombat , tekken or doa collection though
(sees Darkstalkers in the collection)
Me: I'm listening
I'm super excited for this because I love 2D fighters way more than 3D, and a lot of these I haven't even played yet!
Yeah I'm up for this hope it go's on cartridge
Like the line up
Capcom fighting jam would have made a good one but its still good
Darkstlkers alone is worth it
@Vyacheslav333 Capcom no longer had the rights for Jojo, that rights now belongs to Bandai Namco which had the Jojo license for Jump Force thus Capcom can't release their version of Jojo unless they had Bandai Namco's approval.
At least we're getting a physical copy, so I will probably get it.
@Mirage-5x5 Shhh, don't remind Capcom about that. The Beat Em Up Bundle and Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection had been fantastic physically, no need to ruin that now. Anyways this is how the physical games will look like for each platform.
Maybe now I can retire my Puzzle Fighter GBA cartridge. Depends what the collection comes out to - I'm interested in Darkstalkers as well as Puzzle Fighters, but already have SF2 on the Switch and am not super into fighting games.
This one I´ll buy on STEAM. The most fighting gamers play online on Steam and it´s online free. And the game is cheaper on Steam!
guess i'll have to wait till the 40th anniversary to play rival schools and power stone...
FINALLY! Thank you Capcom! Buying two copies! This pretty much has me set for the summer!!!!!! I can almost retire my ps3. I'ma really, really need the switch 2 to be BC...one stop shop for me and it is turning into my largest gaming library. (Hyper SFII feels a bit extra but I guess they figure somebody hasn't bought some form of SFII yet)
Really great news, especially with all the Darkstalkers titles! I only have the first 3 Darkstalkers on PS3 digitally, and those are PS1 ROMs. Good games, but cut down a fair bit from the arcades.
The original PlayStation and Saturn releases are quite rare and expensive now, so having them on a cart is a fantastic bonus.
@Ryu_Niiyama I was just thinking about that earlier today. I'll be absolutely gutted if, with the Switch 2 or whatever, my collection can't be carried over. I'm practically all digital and have amassed an enormous collection. I almost have more shmups alone than I had games on previous consoles. I think I had around 120 games on Wii, Switch is precisely triple that..I can't just leave that behind. I hope the Switch 2 just carries on from the original, same ecosystem, more power.
@OorWullie Yeah Switch is the gaming buffet to me, no it doesn't have everything but it has so many different choices or even just a way to consolidate things that it is my system of choice at this point. Anytime anything comes out now I first want to know if it is going to switch. If not it gets added to the maybe on BF pile. It really is such a convenient and fun machine.
@Specter_of-the_OLED well that looks quite tasty, the physical copy that is.
I have the Darkstalkers games in a number of forms. There's the Japan only PS2 collection that includes all the stuff mentioned here. There's the XBox 360 game that consists of the second and third games. Lastly, there's Vampire Chronicle (both Japan only Dreamcast and Worldwide PSP).
Having said that, this is getting a wishlist entry at the very least.
Besides that, I'm personally hoping for a collection of Capcom games that were made for the NAOMI arcade hardware or Sega Dreamcast. Problem is that two of the most wanted games under that blanket are crossover licence jobs.
@Specter_of-the_OLED "Sigh" Okay.
@TheRedComet Ah I see. Thanks for that reply! That makes me even more interested in wanting to get this collection, to be honest
With Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo included here, I will remove Crystal Crisis from my wish lists. I only wanted that because it was the closest to Puzzle Fighter available on Switch.
Nice to see Morrigan's old ass sprite is still getting work in 2022.
@shineget64 capcom will sooner shutter than let her get a new one
We all know the two games missing in this collection to be the ultimate package are MVC2 and SFA3Max. Cmon capcom, show us some love, you know we are going to gladly pay for it.
@dr-gorgo
milking...
lol what part of "brings an arcade exclusive home after 26 years" didnt you understand?
if you dont care, feel free to not care to yourself. im into the retro comps, bring em on!
Darkstalkers has long been one of my favorite series so its great to see it all collected together on Nintendo hardware no less. Love online play and training rooms for all games too.
and where is a physical release for their arcade cabinet collection(s)???
@GrailUK Heck yes! If the online play is decent, I’ll definitely get this! (Might anyway!)
@BlubberWhale I know. There are too many games I want at the moment
@JasmineDragon I don’t play them much myself, so I get that… although I do really like the concept and would definitely have played them more growing up if I had other people to play against. (So I might be more naturally more enthusiastic then you but it’s all good.)
I almost want them purely for the extremely high quality pixel art and animation. Some if these titles essentially represent the pinnacle of the art form visually, and maybe even gameplay-wise.
I guess I’m just suggesting to give it a shot if you’re not too tight on funds for the gorgeous characters, and super atmospheric stages and music…
Yeah just pick a character and learn all the moves. May feel like work for a bit, but way more fun then button mashing for 10 minutes and getting bored by the random results.
Well, just spewing out some thoughts, thanks for reading lol 😂
@GrailUK Right!? Doesn’t help that the Switch has such a MONSTER library! 😄
So far this year I’ve only ordered Pocky & Rocky and Klonoa. Oh and that dollar game on the eshop, Toree 3D, but I don’t… really count that, heh.
So yeah, now I’m just adding this to my “will almost certainly buy” list. (Mainly because of Darkstalkers, and I somehow don’t own SF2 yet so that’s nice.) Probably a few I’ve forgotten… trying not to remember! 😂 Fatal Frame is one such contender….
So I’m doing good except when you consider I still have to figure out what Wii U and 3DS games I “need” before it’s too late. 😅😅 I guess I did already snag a physical copy of NES Remix as well, so pretty pleased about that.
@MetalHawk Wow, I have some shockingly good news for you. Are you ready? I’m serious, I can’t even believe this is real, OK… if you preorder this collection… you get FLIPPIN’ THREE WONDERS!!! FREE!!!
I can’t even describe how much I’ve wanted this… how long I’ve waited for this game to come to consoles. (PSP port doesn’t count ha.) Hope you’re even a tenth as happy as I am, because that’s still pretty dang happy! 😄
@OldManHermit Yes. Well, more like a sequel with 32 more games.
@Ryu_Niiyama Would be a crying shame if the Switch 2 weren’t backwards compatible. Nintendo has a relatively good history with that, so I’m somewhat hopeful.
What is probably impossible to hope for is current Switch games getting proper 4k upscaling when played on the Switch 2.
I don’t want my 720p games to look extra bad on a 4k tv. (I purposely chose a 1080p TV in 2017 over an affordable 4k TV specifically to match the native maximum output resolution of the Switch.) Looks so much better than playing it on a 4K TV.
@BlubberWhale
Used to play it on PS2, now I get to do so on Switch!
On the tv screen or anywhere like a 7 eleven.
