Re: Talking Point: Should We Still Be Pre-Ordering Games?

MKCustodial

I was part of the Kickstarters for Friday the 13th and Toe Jam & Earl: Back to the Groove. Does that count as pre-order?
Also, I wanted LEGO Star Wars for my birthday (April 3rd), so I chose to pre-order it to get the Luke minifig.
Oh yeah, we got the last Smash Bros as well.
All games I knew I'd like, and with bonus stuff to boot.
But yeah, it's a VERY rare case that I go for the pre-order.

Re: Poll: What's The Best 2D Sonic Game?

MKCustodial

Sonic CD, to me, is the best Sonic game I've ever played. The mechanics are awesome.
Sonic & Knuckles moved the franchise forward and managed to breathe new life in the original trilogy.
Sonic 2 was the improvement of the original.

Re: You Can Now Register for a Nintendo Account

MKCustodial

@The__Goomba Nope. I accessed the page, and it was in Portuguese. Entered my Nintendo info, got an error page. Tried doing it through my Facebook information and it went through, but when it tells me to choose a country, no Brazil.
Apparently, Ninty only needs Japan, North America and parts of Europe for their business. Which is a pity, because I've been a loyal fan since I was 18 (I'm now 36), and I brought up my 10 year old son on everything Nintendo. But they seem focused on phasing us out. Pity.

Re: The eShop is Opening Up in More European Countries Soon

MKCustodial

After reading some comments here, I had no idea there were other countries in South America besides Brazil without access to the Internet.
For the first time since the SEGA Genesis, I'm purchasing a non-Nintendo console (XOne due to Rare Replay), but I don't think I'd have gotten to the considering stage of the purchase if Ninty was doing good job with ALL its customers…

Re: Beenox Won't Be Working on Spider-Man Games Anymore

MKCustodial

I had no idea Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time were considered bad. I thought they were great, to me they're the best Spidey games since the old SEGA Genesis/SEGA CD games.

Now Amazing Spider-Man… I don't think it's all their fault. It was a bad source material to begin with.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's E3 Digital Event?

MKCustodial

I can't remember the last E3 Nintendo didn't mean anything to me. And as a Nintendo fan and Wii U owner, it truly is a sad state of affairs when I'm coming out of E3 thinking of Microsoft. I mean, they're actually making me consider getting a non-Nintendo system for the first time since the SEGA Genesis because of that Rare collection and both South Park games.

Re: Nintendo Download: 7th August (North America)

MKCustodial

@ricklongo Good point. That issue is just one of many recent decisions by our government to make us not spend money abroad. I bet they would outright ban it if they thought they could get away with it, so ridiculous it's become recently.

Re: Nintendo Download: 7th August (North America)

MKCustodial

@xj0462 There are Mega Drives (Genesis) and Master Systems being sold with, like 50 games preinstalled, but they're from TecToy, which is the company that represented SEGA back then. I had no idea it was still considered a SEGA production thing.

Re: Nintendo Download: 7th August (North America)

MKCustodial

@xj0462 What do you mean? SEGA had its day in the 80s and 90s. In fact, I had a Master System and then a SEGA Genesis and a SEGA CD, choosing those over the systems that were our version of the NES and SuperNES probably because their marketing was more aggressive. I only turned to Nintendo on the N64. And by then SEGA was pretty much dead.

Re: Nintendo Download: 7th August (North America)

MKCustodial

@RCMADIAX That IS weird. I know there are ways to go around it, but I just wish they'd get on with it. Although I do fear that, when they do, they're just gonna charge online the same price stores ask for a retail game.
I mean, right now the console is going for the equivalent of 830 dollars, a game oscillates between 80 and 90 dollars, a Wii Remote is around 45, and don't even get me started on accessories like the Disney Infinity items…

Re: Nintendo Download: 7th August (North America)

MKCustodial

I'd love to hear from Nintendo why Brazil STILL does not have access to the Nintendo eShop. Yes, everything Nintendo down here is an import, which means everything Nintendo is way more expensive than Sony or M$. But still, there WAS an official Wii U launch last year, so what gives?
Just another item on the list of things that Nintendo apparently doesn't get or doesn't care. I'm Nintendo for life, but the company REALLY makes it difficult sometimes.

Re: Sega Has No Plans To Bring Alien: Isolation To The Wii U

MKCustodial

We as consumers really can only "accept it". All we can do is ask and then hang our hands in sadness. Nintendo is the one who needs to work harder to change developers' minds. Offer incentives, I don't know.

And even then… I'm from Brazil. The Wii U was finally launched officially down here in November, and we STILL have no access to the eShop. So maybe needs to not make it so difficult for developers to get their stuff out there to a wide audience?

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Is Looking To Release The Wii U In Brazil This Year

MKCustodial

@Savino Microsoft is not recognizing anything. They have already set up shop due to their computer side of business, so it's easier for them to "lose money" with games when they can make up for it with the computer stuff. Nintendo already said they wanted to build systems here but bureaucracy and taxes pretty much killed that deal. Get your head out of the sand.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Is Looking To Release The Wii U In Brazil This Year

MKCustodial

The price for games is not that unfair. You can actually get good deals if you look around. But the price for the systems is insane, and 80% of the blame goes to our greedy government and its taxes.
We also have to take into account that, right now, if you create a Nintendo profile stating you're from Brazil, you have no access to the eShop. Hopefully that'll change once the system is actually sold here. And one can only hope that, by the time Christmas blows through, those prices will drop a bit.
By the way, I commented a few weeks ago about the supposed prices for Disney Infinity and its figures? They're confirmed. Right now, the start kit is going for 145 dollars, the play sets go for 80 dollars, the three figure set is 70 dollars (and apparently only the sidekicks one is available), each figure is 35 bucks and the power disc pack goes for 15 dollars.
That's why the government fights for a higher exchange rate. They want to help the export market and try to curb international sales, since even with the dollar rates at 2+ to 1, it's sometime cheaper to import products.

Re: Sometimes Finding a Wii U to Buy Ain't Easy

MKCustodial

Nintendo doesn't have an official presence in Brazil. It used to, up until the 90s, through a company called Gradiente. We never had the NES or the SNES, but we had Gradiente's versions of those consoles. We could only use games bought here in Brazil, because our system was PAL-M. Game Boys were imported and released through Gradiente with the boxes and manuals in Portuguese, and for those we could buy games in the US during travels. Gradiente and Nintendo parted ways sometime during the N64 era, I believe. Nintendo said there was too much piracy and too many taxes down here, and Gradiente folded soon afterwards. From the GameCube on, everything is imported. There's an "official" import company that localizes manuals and labels, but that's about it. There's no customer support in place. Our taxes are indeed insane. Video games fall under the same tax bracket as games of chance and those video gambling machines for some weird government reason, and add to that the way dollar exchange rates are going, and it's pretty easy to find a Wii U for sale down here, but they charge what amounts to US$ 740, with games going for around 85 bucks. If we find a game for 70 bucks, it's "a steal". :/ And I also posted on the Disney Infinity review thread about how much the rumored costs of the game and the figures will be here.

Re: Review: Disney Infinity (Wii U)

MKCustodial

@DarkEdi They haven't come out here in Brazil yet, but you may consider yourself very lucky. Our takes are INSANE and exchange rates aren't helping right now. Check out OUR supposed prices, which I've already converted to dollars based on the current rates: US$ 130 for the Starter Set, which will have Portuguese dubbing, don't know if you'll be able to change it back to English like many other games that come out down here. US$ 75 for a Play Set. US$ 35 for a single figure, US$ 70 for a three-pack. And US$ 15 for the Power Disc packs.

Re: Review: Disney Infinity (Wii U)

MKCustodial

I can't wait. Got a couple of questions, maybe the reviewer knows the answers to them.

1) On multiplayer online, is it multi-plataform or (in our case) Wii U only?

2) Every time I want to use an item, I have to place it on the portal? Meaning, every time I want to go through a play set, use a character or a certain land scheme on toy box, the matching real-life peace has to be in place?

3) Connected to the question above, how does the game work "locking" stuff to your system? Meaning: power discs come in blind packs, so we're bound to have repeats that can be traded with other fans. But is there anything discouraging me from getting half of the figures and a neighbor the other half, than using them all in one system?

Re: Developer Interview: Mathew Solie on Disney Infinity, Toy Box Inspiration and Future Potential

MKCustodial

I can't wait to get mine. Friends are going to the US in September, so I may finally get my Wii U, and this is definitely gonna be my first purchase. I'm not really a creative person, but I LOVE Disney. Plus, my 7 year old is totally hooked into Minecraft, so I can only imagine the kind of stuff he'll build in Infinity.

One question: will I on the Wii U be able to play multiplayer online with a 360 player?
