Mario Kart: Double Dash!! is still the top Mario Kart game to me. It may not have as many options as the later games but I feel the only thing weighing the game down is that there are only 16 tracks. Mostly everything else (Battle Mode, Karts, Items, Courses) is top notch.

1. Wii U
2. Brawl - Worse physics than Melee but so much more to do and see.
3. Melee: Some of the best stages in the series. I placed it below Brawl because of clones and more limited options.
4. 3DS
5. N64

I have been unable to get one. I almost want to get the wireless $25 gamecube controller replicas. I am starting to wonder why I would pay $20 for an adapter that works for one game. Oh well, I will get one eventually.

This feat is not Super Smash Bros. Brawl's 800,000 copies on first day in North America. However, considering the Wii U's much lower install base, this is impressive and very good news.

I'm confused. Is this article saying that I can't have 4 GCN controllers plugged in and have a Wii U Gamepad and Pro Controller in use with Smash?

This is a terrible move. Guess I have to buy some classic controllers to play wii vc games.

@SylveonLover It could have 2 newcomers+Brawl's roster and be the best roster in the series. I meant that the newcomers in Super Smash Bros. 4 are very sketchy choices. They may all play wonderful. Until then, I am crushed with the newcomer selectiion. Such a letdown.

@Action51 I was merely stating my opinion. I was underwhelmed. There is nothing wrong with being open minded. I like Nintendo a lot, but I am not blind. They still have a long way to go.
Just because a lot of Nintendo followers liked E3 2014 doesn't mean I have to. The only things that piqued my interest were Super Smash Bros. 4 and The Legend of Zelda and even those were underwhelming.

This was not a good E3 for Nintendo or any one honestly. Nintendo's E3 2010 Conference was outstanding. Everything since has been pretty meh for the most part.

This Direct made me have a rainbow coming out of my mouth nearly the entire time. Virtually nothing bad to say (besides the rosters being the same in both versions).

Make a true 3D Mario platformer and I will be happy. We need one.

Well, some good news. The Wii U will take off in 2014 because of Super Smash Bros. 4 and Mario Kart 8.

Many people might buy it this holiday season to prepare for those games and enjoy some of the games already available by the end of 2013 (Nintendo Land, Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, Donkey Kong Country : Tropical Freeze).

Not shabby. However, due to this only being the third Pikmin game, it would take some extremely aggressive marketing and fantastic word of mouth to make this game move consoles.

I think the Wii U could do fine this holiday. A price cut could definitely help. Why should a general consumer buy a Wii U for $300 or $350 when they can get a Playstation 4 for $400?

Personally, I think the Wii U will start to take off in 2014, as Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart move consoles extremely well.

Well, here is another reason why Iwata should be fired.

I think Iwata has done some good with Nintendo, but he has done a lot of damage as well (the past 2 years and now).
It is time for him to ousted as head of Nintendo and bring in a new leader. A leader who can learn from Nintendo's past mistakes and (when the time comes) make a 9th generation system that is as powerful as its competitors.
Let's face it, the Wii was mostly a 6th generation system graphically and the Wii U has seventh-gen graphics.

I disagree with Sakurai so much. I have played Super Smash Bros. and the controls work great (granted I am using a GCN controller on VC).

The only thing I would imagine being a problem playing on the N64 would be the analog stick in the middle, though that was the problem with every N64 game.

I meet need to use the Easy Mode on this. I own Superstar Saga and didn't make it very far and I own Bowser's Inside Story and I can't even beat a caterpillar boss.

I think Nintendo and third parties do not typically use the second screen to its full potential. It's most commonly (by far) used for a map, or an inventory.

I would like this idea a lot better if it brought more genuinely innovative ideas.

@MatthewRPG The truest words ever spoken. Nintendo is so out of touch with the gaming industry. Online co-op is not something risky or new, it should be common place by now. The only Nintendo system with anything worth playing right now is the 3DS. The DS and Wii are just about dead, and the Wii U is in a hole.

Yes there is way too many main series Mario games. New Super Mario Bros. 2 should not exist (though I really enjoyed it) and only one Mario game should have been on Wii U so far (either New Super Mario Bros. U or Super Mario 3D World not both). I think Nintendo should release a Galaxy-esque PROPER 3D Mario platformer in 2014 for the Wii U and then have no Mario platformers at all in 2015.

I can't wait to visit his house. My body is ready.

I haven't bought one because it only is supported in about 5 games (none of them I own).

I've waited over 9 years for this game. Day 1 pickup! It sounds like Next Level Games is pulling all the stops out on this one.

4 New Super Mario games are far too many. I was fine with the DS and Wii iterations (they were the first 2D Mario games in a long time), but it's gotten old.

Take risks, Nintendo. Have new villians (or some new sidevillains), have different worlds (Remember SMB2 and the Super Mario Land games).

Nintendo is just too scared to take risks because they have had a rough financial time as of late. If the 3D Mario game for the Wii U is Super Mario Galaxy 3, I am going to scream.

I would agree with them, except Sony rips off so many of Nintendo's ideas (Battle Royale, Playstation Move, etc.).

The Pocket came out mere weeks after I was born. Imagine how different Nintendo gaming would be if the Game Boy Color got an earlier release (Pokemon would've started on GBC).

Super Mario Galaxy is way better than 3D Land, but 3D Land is still an excellent game. It's great to see a 3DS game doing so well. How much does the best selling Vita game have? 1 million units?

The price is keeping me from the Wii U but that's only because I'm a teenager, so what do I know.

It's the high price and that it's only as good as seven-gen HD consoles.

I've played it and it's pretty disappointing. I probably won't end up selling it because I won't get any money.

Well my subscription doesn't expire until 2013, sooo. Eitherway, I salute Nintendo Power and I hope to collect all the issues I don't own (which are about 200).

i wonder if this will be exclusive to North America? As of now, there are no plans to release the Ice White 3DS outside of Japan and Europe, and now words on the Cobalt Blue 3DS. If Japan gets Midnight Purple, their will be 7 different colors to choose from!
