Re: Interview: Nintendo of America's Dan Adelman

Lobster

Hey, this just occurred to me as i was reading the comments - why not ask for Super Meat Boy on WiiU eShop instead, since it couldn't come to WiiWare? Does anybody think there would be a market for it after so long?

Re: Review: Hydroventure: Spin Cycle (3DS eShop)

Lobster

Please, please, please bring to WiiU! Sounds like the control issues will be completely fixed that way. Plus the original was on Wii so it only makes sense - in fact I thought this was coming to WiiU eShop until just last week.

Re: Review: Gardenscapes (3DS eShop)

Lobster

I'm still interested in this, just because it's a decent sounding hidden objects game and I don't have a portable one yet. Price seems a bit high, unfortunately. Too bad about the wasted potential but overall this seems to have come out better than most in the genre that are available on DSi/3DS. Though I'd love to hear any other suggestions before I buy.

Re: UK Press Pins Blame For Sandy Hook Massacre On Video Games

Lobster

This is a real tragedy. I don't know why people have to bring video games into it, except that THEY ALWAYS DO. Video games are just the worst things ever, apparently, even though 99.9% of people, possibly MORE, who play video games, will never do anything remotely similar to this in their lives.

I too am bipolar and also have have general anxiety disorder. I have bad days and weird thoughts at times. Does that mean I should never touch a video game? Of course not! When I am having a bad day I can tell you video games are the farthest thing from my mind. (In fact my anxiety can make it impossible to play anything because I get too upset at the slightest things, like boss battles.)

Basically he was sick. He was in a toxic environment because his mother was also sick. That doesn't excuse anything but it possibly sheds some light. He had a hobby. I can guarantee if he knitted as a hobby nobody would be saying a word about it, even though knitting needles are sharp.

In fact video games may have even been a comfort to him.

Re: Feature: Memorable Nintendo Direct Moments

Lobster

I love watching Nintendo Directs, even if they are never announced more than about three hours in advance and hardly give much news - there's still always something worth seeing! Love the antics.

I missed the call with Reggie, anybody got a link? Edit: Oh. I'm dumb. I see that the video is in the article now. For some reason it looked like just a picture to my brain on the first read through.

Re: Talking Point: Test Running Rayman Legends

Lobster

This is surely the best demo I've ever played, and I've played a few that caused insta-downloads (Art of Balance, Denpa Men). Simply gorgeous and I am positive I will be getting it asap, despite never getting a single Rayman game before! I don't even like platformers, haha! I haven't even gotten around to playing the whole thing; there's a lot of depth to it. Love the mechanics and love the feel of it. The whole package is wonderful and gives me high hopes for the game itself.

Re: Wii U Review Score Average Is Modest, At Best

Lobster

Something interesting, that I've noticed with games, is a lot of times the ones that review badly, well, suck, and the ones that review well aren't memorable (some exceptions of course!). But the ones where the scores are all over the place, the ones that are divisive, are the ones that are remembered, because they did something unique or innovative, instead of copying a formula everybody knows will work. I wonder if the same applies to consoles?

Re: Gardenscapes

Lobster

Sounds a bit like Yard Sale Hidden Treasures: Sunnyville on WiiWare. I liked that game. Here's hoping this isn't a clunker!

Re: Talking Point: The Wii U eShop Needs Patience

Lobster

People complaining about the Wii U eShop clearly did not buy a 3DS at launch. I'm not saying that I don't want more games, but what we have available right now is quality stuff and should keep you occupied, honestly. I'm certainly excited for new games and disappointed when there aren't any in a given week, but it's not the end of the world. It will fill up fast and it's already good for something that, remember, just launched.

Re: Nintendo Explains Why Nintendo Land Doesn't Include Online Multiplayer

Lobster

Personally, I don't think Nintendo Land makes sense online, and this is coming from someone with no friends or family to play with locally. I can't play ANY of the multiplayer attractions, even slightly, even though those look like some of the coolest. But I'd rather not play them than play them in a weird sort of quasi-void. It's clear they are built for local, same room fun. It's a party game, pure and simple.

Re: Wii U Is The "Greenest" HD Console

Lobster

I love that it's good on my electric bill and I didn't even stop to consider how that would affect the system's long term stability. But it makes sense. Sometimes a 360 seems like it's TRYING to shake itself apart. Rather scary. No wonder the RROD was so prevalent in the old days. So far I've only noticed the Wii U once, when I turned it off. I went, "Oh! It was making noise."

Re: Wii U Selling 1.2 Games Per Console In North America

Lobster

Personally, even though yes, it's a deal, I still don't have the money to be dropping $400-$500 all at once on gaming. Or, I suppose I do but I'm very uncomfortable with the idea.

I bought the deluxe bundle and that's it. No retail games. Have downloaded Little Inferno and Nano Assault off the eShop, though, which of course don't count here. I'm hoping to get at least two and maybe up to four games for Christmas, though. And after Christmas is when I'll have more money to throw around again.

Re: Review: Funky Barn (Wii U)

Lobster

You know, this is far better than it sounded. It's too bad there isn't more content. I actually like this sort of game on mobile (where it's usually freemium, ugh). Funky Barn, when you hit the bargain bin in a few weeks or months, consider yourself considered!

Re: Review: Nano Assault Neo (Wii U eShop)

Lobster

I'm enjoying it, and improving every time, but I have the most bizarre complaint: the visuals are SO good, like, the backgrounds, that I can barely see the enemies! I suppose I should look at the Gamepad more often, but it's so pretty that it's hard to tear my eyes away from the TV...

Re: Guitar Hero 7 Was in Development With a Six-Stringed Guitar

Lobster

I'm glad that the whole genre has died off. It's a great idea in small amounts, but it really over saturated the market. Maybe one day I'd like to see GH7 come out, all spiffy the way it was intended, but not for at least five years.

Honestly, this type of game is excellent, but you really only need one or two really good ones in your library. The biggest problem is all the peripherals. Those two factors are probably why the bubble burst like it did.

Re: Review: New Super Mario Bros. U (Wii U)

Lobster

@Varia01: I hope you got the WiiU also, mostly because I got a bike for Christmas when I was seven and while that was SUPER AWESOME I couldn't really use it until March or April because of the snow and general foul weather of this time of year. Maybe you guys live someplace nicer though! (I remember my mom making pointed remarks about Santa not thinking things through, haha!)

Re: Feature: Taking Off to the Miiverse

Lobster

Really, my first "WOW" moment of Nintendo Magic with the WiiU was seeing the Miis running around the Plaza with the Miiverse comments and drawings popping up. It's been the one thing that consistently tickles me, every time I see it.

They added some new communities tonight! It was hilarious to see the comments fill out quickly, especially because they appear to all be shovelware games. Defoe has some competition with that 30 Games bear.

Less than three weeks old and already spawning its own memes. -wipes tear-

Re: Review: Little Inferno (Wii U eShop)

Lobster

I did end up getting it and I absolutely adore it. My suggestion, if the price is putting you off, is to get it on Steam during the Winter Sale.

But you absolutely have to play it, one way or another.

Re: Review: Game Party Champions (Wii U)

Lobster

The last line is brilliant. Excellent review.

As with all shovelware, the most fun you would have with it is if you took an actual shovel, bludgeoned it to pieces, and then used the shovel to bury the pieces. Come to think of it, that would make a nice minigame if you could really get the feel of it down.

Re: Feature: Taking Off to the Miiverse

Lobster

I love, love, LOVE Miiverse. It's amazing how well it flows and there's been very little offensive content. (I saw a "fuuuuuuuuuuuck" posted on a NSMBU level and someone drew a picture of penis people that made it into my NintendoLand plaza. I didn't care about the first - made me laugh - but wanted to report the second and couldn't figure out how...)

It's amazing how many Yeahs my posts can get, plus I love seeing the creative stuff from all over. I love helping people who are stuck in a game and I love getting help and opinions so fast from other gamers across the world.

One thing that cracks me up, if you change your mind about liking a post, it's called "unyeah." LOL. A bit clunky! But if THAT'S my biggest complaint, rock on, Nintendo!

Re: Review: Pac-Man (3DS eShop / NES)

Lobster

This review and this new item popped up in my twitter stream right next to each other, which made me laugh!

news.discovery.com/space/cassini-finds-second-pac-man-moon-121126.html

Pac-man is also in Spaaaaaace! (Science!)

Re: Review: The Trash Pack (3DS)

Lobster

This was an honest review, though. I liked the first paragraph, because I had no idea that such a toy line/franchise even existed.
It sounds like they did put effort into it, and it's good that the controls are tight. It's not a total write-off, just... baffling.
I admit I thought it was a downloadable title when it first popped up in my Twitter feed. Retail, yikes!

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life's Quirky Wii Memories

Lobster

Playing Skyward Sword last winter with my friend. For some reason that night the remote sensitivity was very high, and we had chosen to get extremely drunk. Link was basically falling off the same platform over and over again and we weren't getting anywhere. We finally got to the next room, and there's a Skulltula in it. I started yelling, "Spider! Spider!" and trying to flip it and kill it. This sort of action is way too precise for a drunk person anyway, but with wonky controls, forget about it! I ended up flailing around until I about fell off the couch and then I yanked so hard all of a sudden the nunchuck pulled loose from the remote! Meanwhile my friend is laughing so hard tears are streaming down her face.

After that we decided to play something else, haha!

Re: Talking Point: The Challenges When Writing About Games

Lobster

This is an interesting article, and exactly why I go on NintendoLife. Well, one of the two reasons. I know I can trust your reviews and the commenters below them, who are generally fairly intelligent here. The other reason is that if it's on a Nintendo system, you guys have reviewed it! I have yet to look up a title, however obscure, to find it hasn't been reviewed here.

Basically, I feel like I can trust you guys far more than, say, IGN and you have such a breadth that what you do here is absolutely a Godsend to people needing information on a game they want to buy.
