I salute NL's goal of reviewing everything, even the random crap nobody cares about, because, however unlikely, there may actually be someone out there who is browsing through the eShop and says, "Hmm, Word Searcher 4... I wonder how that is?" And that person deserves an honest review. So thanks.
What about that first time way back when when you stepped out into Hyrule Field in OoT? And the music played and your jaw dropped because it was so BIG and looked so GOOD? (Remember, it did look good back then! XD) And you knew you had barely started and you had this whole massive game to explore.
I really enjoyed this review. If I were the sort of person to make lists, this would go in my Top 10 Funniest Reviews of 2011... but I'm not that sort of person.
Yet another NA gamer hoping the deal comes here. I've already qualified if it does. I was a bit young for the NES era (I was about four when SNES came out) so I have no first hand memories of Kid Icarus but this looks great to me!
As much as I want this I think I'll sit this one out, at least until a newer, better version comes out. We're setting up a media room in the basement anyway, and going to connect up all our consoles at once, SNES included.
Man, I can't wait to suck all over this, humiliate myself in front of people I barely know... Good times, good times. You should set up a NL karaoke bar too, then I can do the same thing but in person!
You know, for $5 I can see many a fishing fan downloading this, especially because it doesn't sound broken or glitchy at all. Heck, I might even download it one day.
Yet another person who really wants the Rupee pillows. Ohoh, I could hide them in bushes in the back yard and then whale at the bush with a stick until they fall out!
... Ooooor I could use them as throw pillows. Either way.
I don't think we should worry about what happens when all these people working on Mario eventually die. There are a lot of people working on Mario games, after all, so it's possible that someone could start out working on SMG2 or SM3DL and learn from those guys and eventually be on top in ten years.
I don't want to think about when Shigeru Miyamoto dies, though. That's really going to be tough for gaming as a whole. He's done more for gaming than any other person, possibly combined. It will be a very, very sad day.
Great article, though, despite all the talk of death in the comments!
When they announced the whole Ambassador thing, and I saw the bit about exclusive GBA games, I took it as, "We'll be releasing GBA games at some point, but the only people who will get THESE GBA games are Ambassadors." Basically saying, tough luck, late adopters, no Mario Kart for you. I think Nintendo does love and appreciate early adopters, and this is their way of showing it, but they aren't going to shoot themselves in the foot by not releasing titles from an entire generation of handheld.
Personally I am also one of the apparently four people excited for this. There is not going to be a new gen for a while, guys, the timing is off. And the WiiWare Rumble game was ridiculously fun, if you haven't tried it yet it's absolutely worth the $15.
The review looks great and so does the game! However, I will not be picking this up, due to my irrational hatred of StarFox games spanning back to the SNES. (WHY DID I SUCK SO BAD? WHY DID MY FRIEND RUB MY FACE IN IT?)
I preordered SAGA a while ago. That said I only have a demo on the Wii that I haven't even gotten around to playing yet (I know, I know!) so there's a good chance I'll pick up COMPLETE at some point down the line. I just bought four new Wii games, though, including Okami, so it probably won't be soon.
I'm not really sure why someone would buy one color, then just buy another a few months down the road. I adore my Aqua Blue 3DS though. Also I'm the person that never even upgraded my DS phat to a DS Lite or DSi, so I have to say I'm not the sort of person that understands replacing perfectly good (gaming) hardware anyway.
Just sitting here wishing my Japanese skills were better than they are. Maybe in a few years. Of course, I'd have to import the Super Famicom as well... sigh.
I guess I'll go look up the DS version mentioned above.
Haha, at least people remember Florida is a state. I'm from West Virginia. Not only does nothing ever happen here, and not only is it far from literally everything interesting, but most people seem to think it's actually western Virginia.
@SuperLink Pretty sure I still have that somewhere (as well as a Tamagotchi board game what). Haven't played it since I was probably 11, so 12ish years, but now that you mention it I do see a resemblance.
So glad I picked this up, it's so addicting I didn't even notice two and a half hours had gone by the first time I played it. The music is currently stuck in my head and that makes me want to play even more. This was my first Picross game, but absolutely not my last.
@7 I reserved Luigi's Mansion 2 at Gamestop yesterday when I picked up Zelda, and the sheet I got says 3 January for launch (at least two other games I reserved have the same date, including Animal Crossing). The date could easily change before then and of course that's the NA date anyway. But it's a date and you guys usually get games a day or two before us.
@21 Considering there's nobody else doing 3D right now really, and 3DSWare, I'm guessing Nintendo will still be able to say "we made the first 3D block breaker game." Haha! Though not entirely sure why anyone would brag/care about that.
Read this review earlier and I still have to say I'm sort of on the fence. It's slim picking right now on 3DS VC. Of course, I have Link's Awakening... And since I didn't have a DSi, I'm getting a lot of interesting DSiWare as well.
I'm another who thought that this is a bad NA launch date for a flight game... Especially considering it's the tenth anniversary, I mean if it were not a round number I would probably not be so surprised. But yeah, really should have thought this one through better, imo. Release it a week before or after, or hell, in the middle of the week even, not that game releases are ever in the middle of the week. But still. Duh, Nintendo.
EDIT: Anyway I'm not going to get this one, I've never liked Star Fox. Goes back to when I was a kid and I was just absolutely terrible at it I think. I actually was given the SNES version free a few years ago and still had so much bad feeling that I almost turned it down. For free! So yeah. I'm glad for everybody who is excited, though, I certainly feel the same way about OoT and last night's release of Link's Awakening. Which I need to get back to, 'scuse me.
Yeah, chiming in with another, "I loved the 'Wii would like to play' series." Something about those commercials just made me want to get a Wii, or find someone who had one and hang out. It just really captured something and struck a chord. I can't really explain why I loved them so much, I just did. Every time I saw one, it brought a smile to my face.
That said, while I don't think Nintendo's marketing is doing anything wrong, I'm still excited to see how they revamp it.
If ads like this ran on American TV, Nintendo wouldn't be complaining about lack of 3DS sales and lagging sales in general. Damn that vid has me pumped. So shiny! @_@
My real cat is getting annoyed at all of my "Woook at da puppy-eeeeee" feelings toward this game, but right now I'm in love with it. It warms the cockles of my heart when Starburst the Golden Retriever hops up to lick me through the screen. <3 I don't even like dogs. But this game is tons of fun, and can be played for either a long-ish time or a short time. I love turning on the Pedometer and collecting presents. Just wish I had enough money in game to get a cat, and friends with 3DSes irl to... walk by, I guess!

Re: Nintendo Donates 5,000 3DS Consoles to The Louvre
I actually like audio guides sometimes, and I used one at Versailles. This could be interesting. I wouldn't knock it yet.
Re: Review: Blaster Master: Enemy Below (3DS Virtual Console / Game Boy Color)
"It is worth nothing that this experience isn't for the faint of heart"
Pretty sure that should be "noting."
Re: 3DS Firmware Update Available Now
I really loved opening Mii Plaza to be spammed with a ton of achievements. I laughed so hard!

Re: Review: Just Sing! Christmas Vol. 3 (DSiWare)
No US date? Darn, and here I was all fired up to sing two songs over and over into a small metallic blue object.

I notice Wii Sports Resort is still top five also. The Wii is still going strong, and I'm impressed.

This doesn't sound TOO awful bad... of course I'm a fan of the genre.
@2 Thanks. I was thinking I'd probably get it anyway, but your comment essentially confirmed it.
Re: Japanese Virtual Console List - September 2011
Japan, the rest of the world wants you to know that we hate you and your awesome video games (and delicious sushi).
Re: Review: Gargoyle's Quest (3DS Virtual Console / Game Boy)
Sounds like a solid game that I will enjoy once I get some time.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Dices with Fan-Made Board Game
Hahaha this is pretty sweet. Kudos for a creative idea, reminds me of board games I used to make up as a kid, only it looks a whole lot nicer.
Re: Review: Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii)
Add another American to the list of those weeping quietly in the corner because we can't play this.

@NintendoFanatic98 Yes.

Re: Review: Alt-Play: Jason Rohrer Anthology (DSiWare)
I'm not afraid to admit that the first time I played Passage it made me cry.
Re: Let's Get Ready to Super Pokemon Rumble on 3DS
Oh, I loved the WiiWare version! This is a day one download for me! I hope it gets here soon!
Re: Review: Double Dragon (Game Boy)
I might actually get this when it comes out here.
What version had Jimmy and Bimmy?
Re: European Ocarina of Time Soundtrack Offer Extended
Another US person who didn't get hers. But this gives me hope they'll fix that.
Re: Fils-Aime: "3DS Didn't Launch Prematurely"

Re: Nintendo Updates DSiWare to 3DS Transfer List with More Titles
Nooooo, Oregon Trail! sob
I'm another that never got a DSi to replace my DS. The 3DS was my upgrade. Would've liked to revisit elementary school on a handheld.
Re: Ocarina of Time 3D is a Smoother Experience than Before
I am drooling over how good the Market looks! I'm never going to want to skip ahead in time now.
Re: Review: Big Bass Arcade (DSiWare)
This actually doesn't sound so bad. I daresay I'd even buy it if I had a DSi.
Re: Review: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters (Wii)
My dad would love this, according to the review. But the comments are making me feel a bit iffy on getting it for him...
