yeah, i really hope PS4 surpasses Wii Us sales at the end of the year. Nintendo really needs this kind of flop. These 399€ still hurt me. Really, i feel cheated. This was alot of money.
Nintendo needs to change. Please, the Blue Ocean strategy doesn't work anymore. Casuals and family gaming largely jumped to Smartphones. Only (for the lack of a better term) Core Players are loyal to consoles. And they buy PS4 and Xbones.Please Nintendo, do something.

This fee guarantees that the service won't be shut down. Not like the Wii U Online for most 3rd Parties. Servers cost constantly money you know. Thes servers lets publishers lose money, so they don't give Wii U versions online MP. Great work Nintendo on that one.

Wii U will be third and gain Gamecube numbers. Next year we will get almost zero support from third parties.
Seriously, what the eff happened? I still remember this developers reel from E3, the launch linup that promised support from large companies like Namco, Team Ninja, WB...and now we don't get any from them. Sales must have been abysal low. I don't see the other consoles suffer such fate. At least they have advertising. Really, you can't buy a PS4 if you haven't pre ordered. That wasn't the case with the U.
And to all that say ,,I don't care for 3rd parties'': it is also a form of advertisement. When i walk into a supermarket or a Gamestop i walk past tons of shelfs featuring logos of XBox and Playstation brands. And in one lonely corner the Wii U games. My local gamestore doesn't even have anything Wii U related. And that is really something, that shop is the No.1 destination for gamers and is supported by the gamers even if the prices are higher than the local electronic market (MediaMarkt) directly on the other side of the street. Nintendo lost bigtime
Well, at least i got the 3Ds which is a beast. Can't wait for Zelda and Bravely Default. It is so great that you can unlock rewards for the full game by playing the demo.

But yes, this tendencies in japanese audiences is something i found out some time ago. They also don't like western super heroes. I once heard ( in the Japan Times i think) that Japanese want their soperheroes to look sexy while they save the world. Really, i don't make this up ( i really read this). But if i look at their life action movies based on mangas/animes i tend to believe this...

there are plenty of games that are successful this generation and sold millions that don't go this route. Bioshock Infinite, The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls to name a few. Sorry, but Nintendo is losing many gamers. And it is solely their fault. They promised this time it would be better considering 3rd parties and i belived them. Seriously, this 399€ for my Wii U still hurt me. Why can't we get big blockbuster games AND typical Nintendo games? Really, why this hate for everything that isn't Nintendo? Wii U is failing and 2014 is getting even worse ( you can quote me on that if i will be proven wrong...but my guts feeling tells me so) Ubisoft and Warner will be gone and Nintendo games alone...i want to play something on the Wii U. Not only 6 games a year. PS4 is sold out for 2013 in Germany so i don't see the videogames market beeing in trouble. It's only the Wii U. That really should be mentioned. But no, the hadcore fans still try to spin it like everything else is trash and they never had the intention to by 3rd party games even if it had come to the Wii U. It is sad to read some comments here.

This..strange comments about online play alone show me that Nintendo really aren't in touch with todays gamers. I have MAYBE one friend that is able to play with me ONCE in a week because work etc. So really, i won't play local multiplayer that often. Whats so hard to include online mp ALSO? It's like Nintendo wants to do it differently just for the sake of it. So, i am somewhat grateful that they experience mayor failure and have to overthink some of their decissions.
I am sorry, but they have to change. And isn't this innovation? The aspekt may love about Nintendo? We could just benefit from some change.

yes, it's was really great from Nintendo to make no effort trying to sell Wii Us...gave us pretty great 3rd Party support.

i am genuily exited about the SteamMachine and Steam OS. It will shake up the industry, i believe. I already have a laptop connected to my HDTV and a gamepad. It really works great. This is a smart move from Valve.
Soon they will reveal AAA titles that utilize Steam OS.

I have three portables that i use from Nintendo DS, DS XL, 3DS. Even if i transfer all my digital content (that is unevenly distributed) i can't easily tranfer them back if ,let's say, i just want to bring my DS with me. An account system would solve this.
Besides, Nintendo could easily impliment Icons, Trading Cards etc. to this account like STEAM does. If would really boost the awareness of this account system and the users will also benefit from this cool features.

Really, its is time to accept the Wii u as a SECOND console. For the big games i got STEAM on the PC. And the Nintendo games on my Wii U. This will be the blues for the coming years. However you see it, Nintendo dropped the ball. If you really want 3rd party games for the Wii U, by them NOW. Next year there won't be any big ones.

i dunno, i looks like Mega Man and the concept arts also look like Mega Man.
I know this is part of the premise, but i hardly saw any ''new'' ideas.
I seems as Inafune isn't done with Mega Man and just keeps going without CAPCOM and just with slightly new visuals so he doesn't get trouble from CAPCOM.
It feels strange. It feels like this should have been official Mega Man but the circumstances didn't allow it to be. And this aspect just irks me.
I fully understand the reasons for all that and i don't really find anything wrong with the game as shown. But still...this new game is just a way for him to be able to work on Mega Man without CAPCOM. So i blame CAPCOM for this project not beeing really Mega Man.
And this feels strange man.

Definitely not regretting it. Even more after all this delays.

i dunno, 160k sold copies in 4(?) month... i'm prettty sure Wii, 360 and PS3 sold more in this time period.
So, third place compared to recent consoles. I really thought is was clear that we were talking about sales here. And the fact reamins they are bad. That are the facts. No reason to throw PS4 and XBONE in here. Still, the preorders for them are higher than Wii U sales.

yeah, but still releasing the games gets us the game. If they keep Online MP without a way to compensate for the costs of the servers they must run they loose money permanently. As already explained.
I sure would stay far away from such an online structure. Otherwise you just burn money.

it would be nice, but nothing now indicates this. Wii U will be ( and already is) third place. It's absolutely up to you if this bothers you.

why no online play? Because there is no unified Online Service privided by Nintendo like XBOX Live or soon on the PS4. On XBOX Live you have to pay for using the servers and play online. You are using Microsofts servers and pay for it. No cost for the developers. They don't have to provide their own servers.
On Wii U Nintendo does't provide own servers FOR THIRD PARTIES. Nintendo let them handle the online infrastucture like they want. If they want to charge you for it, they can. But they know that nobody would pay for this. Because like we even see here nobody knows from this problem. The third parties must fully pay for the online service. So we keep seeing this Onlie parts beeing cut for Wii U version. See Arkham Origins.
It's Nintendos fault, nothing else. No Unified Servers is a mistake. You ask why PS3 Network is free? Well, Sony pays for the servers. Nintendo doesn't do this and it is haunting them now more and more.

Seriously, why is this aspect not covered by NintedoLife? It was something of concern from the beginning of the Wii U. I myself can understand the third parties. They are losing money in this state of the Wii U. Nintendo has to change this.

yeah, pretty strange how many spin it like this is NO WAY Nintendos fault. Nine Month (or so) on the market and still no marketing push althought there are some system sellers available acording to some ( I don't thinks so, but ok...).
Yeah Nintendo, wait for the marketing till Christmas when every big retailer got rid of their inventory with a loss and will do a frak to restock Wii U...

Really, why do people here still dance around the big elephant in the room: Nintendo dropped the ball. How can you not see this?

Nintendo in HD isn't enough. Not today. The market changed. Nintendos omehow doesn't want to make ''Blockbuster'' games like Bioshock Infinite or The Last of Us (And yes, i know YOU don't like 'em. But i do and many others also) These games have themes that are explored in cinema or recent televison shows. Or lets say it can be presented in a serious way. Like Game of Thrones, Bordwalk Empire or Mad Men. Exploring morlale not in a trivial way. People that wathed TV and movies now also have realised that videogames can also be a form of storytelling. They see the marketing of The Last of Us etc. and buy the games.
Somehow i believe that Eiji Aonuma realised this but Miyamoto is holding him down.

On topic: these numbers are bad, Really, really bad. Nobody cares about the Wii U. The Direct-Only Conference at E3 was a mistake. Every mainstream media that reported E3 only mentioned Sony and Microsoft. So, i believe Nintendo is non-existent for them. You can't sell something to people that they don't know even exists.

So hey, Nintendo, you release some games, but please what about someadvertisement? Crazy, but it could work...

i respect your decicion to buy it, but won't it be better to not support such version by not buying them? Besides, it doesn't look that the Wii U Version will be better than any other version. It's not like Arkham City. Maybe it is better to support Arkham City like you did and stop their. Credit where credit is due.

yeah, or Nintendo will only sell Download Codes online and directly from them. Like the ones GAME sell. So your games will still be linked to specific hadrware you redeem this code. I am pretty sure this will be the case knowing Nintendo this days.
But i will still be the first one singning praise if they really announce an account sytem.

I think there is no way they can turn things around till/during Holiday. Wii U is losing shelf space in major retailers, no one knows what a Wii U is and if they go to buy one before Christmas they will learn that it is a one year old console and that they can get a brand new console for only 50€ more and actually has games. New games. Nintendo can only advertise...Mario 3D World? WindWaker? W101? Pikmin 3? These are not shiny new things, and consumers will notice this. Consumers want shiny new things with... i dunno big marketing behind it. Somehow Nintendo keeps forgetting marketing.

yeah, great idea to release a console without a big first party title in the beginning. Why should people buy it? To play the Exclusive Waiting game? It's not much fun i can tell you.
I am really angry at me that i bought the Wii U at launch for the full price. I should have waited or even bought the PS4 for only 50€ more that will actually have games.
I have not one Nintendo game for the Wii U. That should tell you what i think from them.

this is great news. The trailer was super awesome in a really clever way. Pop Culture Reverences, Stop Motion, Lego Figures with well known damages and Laser Effect entirely made of tranculent Lego pieces. What not to love?

sorry but the Wii U is a flop. I feel really chested by Nintendo, i payed the full price for the ZombiU bunde for a console that is dead in the water.
My Wii u is collecting dust and i dearly hope Nintendo recognizes this and is already starting to plan their next console.
Maybe talk to third parties to guarantee some 3rd pary support? Nintendo games alone doesn't cut it anymore. Nintendo has some of the best talent in the business, but there are MANY ohter great talents in other companies whose work doesn't grace the Wii U. Without my Steam machine my gaming life would be pretty bleak.
That's the harsh reality for me.

I am pretty sure Nintendo will loose the battle this Christmas. They already try to forget about the unique Gamepad. It baffles me that anybody can be okay with this Direct. There was nothing shown by Nintendo that is only possible on the Wii U and not on the Wii or 3DS (W101 is Platinum). Where they bankrupt of new ideas? And Retro is making a 2D Sidescroller. Their big secret project they were working on for the past 3 years. Which was pulled in the last minute before the press conference 2012. Because it wasn't ready...yeah. Don't believe this for a second. Why isn't there any of their Sci-Fi franchises? The whole lineup doesn't look really varied.
I'm sorry, but i am deeply dissappointed by Nintendo. I really like Platformers but this is overkill.

seriously, i don't think there will be a Metroid down the road. Nintendo needed to drop the bombs and judging by the reactions they didn't. It hurts me, no it realy does, and i know this makes me a fanboy...but i still feel this way...i have to get a PS4. It looks better, costs only 50 Euros more that a Deluxe Wii U and seems to hate a greater variety of games that look exiting. And there will be no drought. Nintendo didn't deliver for me. And this really makes me sick...I am deeply disappointed. And it was only 40 minutes. Oh man... they blew the whole first year. For me at least. Man, this is depressing and i hope Nintendo FINALLY pays attention. But seeing Reggies comments it doesn't seem so.

because it doesn't look like Wii U has a great variety of genres. TONS of platformers and so it looks like Retros talent got...wasted?...on a genre that even now is oversaturated on this console.

Retro is great at Sci-Fi, and i have the feeling a grand Space Opera from them is what Wii U needs right now. Really, Nintendo has so many great Sci-Fi themed franchises and it looks like we won't see any of them in 3 years.

If this was in the making for 3 years we won't see another game from Retro on the Wii U. Till them all talent has left Retro and formed other studios.
Don't get me wrong, i will buy it but man,,, that won't save the Wii U. Semething new and exiting for the western audience is needed. And please don't try to nitpick my comment about different tastes etc. Nintendo just keeps track with their course wich led to disappointing Wii U sales so far. And i don't see this changing this year.

and so you can also forget 2013. Great Nintendo. See you (maybe) in 2014. Oh boy. ZERO Innovation! From Nintendo! How can anybody be okay with this? 3rd Parties had nothing new to show and Nintendo can't fill the gaps by themselves. What were they doing since they stopped releasing games for the Wii? Wii U is just an industry joke. On many fronts. This is just one of them.
