@Royalblues Ganondorf isn't white either. Besides, of these 80 characters, many are not even human. Those don't really count. Also pretty sure you have some more options through skins.
Talking diversity in the mushroom kingdom doesn't make much sense to me in the first place, btw. The world doesn't have that many human character in the first place. And 4 of them are directly connected to each other, so that diverse skin colors between them would be unusual.
And sexuality is not even a topic at all, for most characters.
I still fear this kind of stuff is counterproductive. I, for example, live in Germany, someones skin color was never something I thought much about. Some people look like this, others like this. I treated anyone the same, regardless of skin color, without this ever being a topic and that seemed to be pretty much the norm over here.
Now this whole diversity thing in media has become so big, that it is next to impossible to not get antangled in the discussion, at least if you are active on the internet. I know this is different from place to place, but from my perspective over here, the whole problem barely even existed until those who tried to solve it, made it huge. I wouldn't be surprised if the amount of racism against blacks, for example, actually rose because of this, because it is now a "thing" and some people take any excuse to do horrible stuff.
It's always fun to see just how well balanced Monster Hunter generally is, even just in how much fun each weapon is.
What I mean is, just look at any comment section like this, every weapon has its fans and you can have endless (positive) discussions about how YOUR weapon is the best. This is possible because every weapon type has its redeeming qualities.
This also shows again and again, just how different the weapons are from each other.
In a way, the fact that people are so divided about which weapon is the coolest, shows one of the biggest strengths of the franchise, imo. It also shows why it is so important for new players, to find the right weapon first. They will not be equally fun to play for you, as it is super subjective.
@UltimateOtaku91 I mean, not necessarily. Production of the goodies might just have been planned for the original release date and it is too late to push the production date by so much. Factories don't just sit there doing nothing until they are needed after all. They are probably already booked for other products for the timeframe.
@dres Agreed. The only issue I see for EA here is the potential confusion of many casual fans (of which there are a lot). Imagine the name is sold to Konami and they release a "FIFA 23" next, while EA releases "EA Sports FC 23". There are probably quite a few people who don't realize what is going on and just buy (Konami) "FIFA 23". I don't think this will happen for several years in a row though, unless that (Konami) "FIFA 23" somehow manages to be better than EAs game, convincing the new players to stay.
@themightyant Got 4 4* Weapons myself, though the 4* weapons are good enough I would say, so I am not worried about that too much.
Got some random constellations for my 5* characters as well, like a C2 Jean even though I didn't plan on using her, apparently the game wants me to, lol.
@themightyant I am in a similar position about it, not sure if I recommend it, though I guess I am more on the side of "yes".
It probably helps in my case, that I am grinding far less than I should, most of the time just doing my dailys, unless of course there is new story stuff.
Been playing since day 1, with some months break in between. Even with that low level of grinding commitment, I got about half of all 5* characters and all 4* characters. Have got the 5€ per month pass for a few months now, but mainly because I got so much free playtime out of this game, that I just felt like it is justified at this point. I still spend very little, considering how much AAA games cost, and got much more playtime out of it. That is a plus, I would argue.
I mean, sure, the game has it's flaws, but if you read the comments here, you would think that the game is like a 2/10 or something. The game is genuinly fun though and for being a gacha game, you really don't need to spend any money in it at all.
@SalvorHardin You must not have played far beyond the beginning, if you think button mashing is all there is to it. In the open world you can probably get by with that only if you don't mind fights taking several times longer than they should, but in boss fights and such, unless you are over leveled, this wouldn't get you very far. Especially not in Spiral Abyss.
Also, the game gives you one hell of a lot of characters even if you don't pay any money at all, if you just play the game. You just need the basic level of self control to not want a specific character at all cost. Otherwise you are good.
@BTB20 That is possible, Korok Forest especially is infamous for performance issues after all.
But in docked mode, you already had performanc issues even on the great plateau directly at the games beginning, at seemingly random spots without that much happening. In handheld mode, you got rock solid 30fps in the same situations. The performance in docked mode got better with patches, as mentioned, but I don't remember it getting to quite the same level as handheld mode... But maybe I am wrong on that, and it is solved entirely at this point.
No but seriously, that is pretty dangerous thinking and holding a Joy Con in my hand just a second ago again, I have no idea how you can be so sure. You are playing some tennis in a relaxed way, loosen your grip a bit without even noticing and that thing can easily go flying.
Well, technically, BotW running exactly the same in both modes IS wrong, because it runs demonstrably better in handheld mode.
There are several tests out there confirming this and was a fairly hot topic of discussion when the game released, because you would expect the opposite.
The game tends to stutter in random locations, but only in docked mode.
Though docked mode got a bit better with patches. Handheld mode pretty much has rock solid 30fps.
Also: Calling handheld mode a gimmick is kinda strange.
Is the 3DS being a handheld also a gimmick then? By that logic it should be.
What if I call docked mode a gimmick? What in the world even is a gimmick at that point?

@Rayquaza2510 Rise has less content than base World? In what way? Certainly not in the amount of monsters in the game, which I would argue is the most important factor.
@NightBeast Well, technically technically I think the characters in 2 didn't have classes at all, but the Blades had. And you couldn't change the class of a blade.
You could also argue that, technically, you can change classes in many games like this, including Xenoblade 1, as you had a certain amount of influence on what they can do depending on which skills you upgrade and what equipment you give them. @agrazioli Thanks for the list. It actually kind of proves my point.
In almost all cases it wasn't the name of the company itself that was hit. Part of the name sometimes, though in these I would argue it is not the most important part.
Just about the only case where a company lost it's own company name trademark seems to be Jacuzzi.
I don't know about hoover, but did this actually happen to a company name like that before? Pretty sure Google is still a trademark, for example, even though "google it" is very common.
Other examples, like "App" are not really comparable. It is neither really a name for something specific nor a sonehow important name that would need protection. Furthermore, "App" is kind of just the natural short form of the word "application".
Also kind of odd that Nintendo called the newest console the "Switch" then. Switch is already a normal word and, depending to the situation, talking about a "Switch" can be confusing. Talking about the "Nintendo" in my house may be less confusing at the same time.
Also, also, very weird to say that there is no Nintendo as a noun. Of course there is. There is nothing wrong about calling a Nintendo Switch a "Nintendo" just as you can call it a "Switch". Caing a PlayStation a "Nintendo" is wrong, but calling an actual Nintendo console that is just normal. By that logic we need to stop saying things like "look at this car, it is a BMW", even when it is actually a BMW...
@stevenw45 Actually, every LCD/Plasma/OLED TV (Every TV type currently relevant...) upscales every image to whatever its native resolution is. Since they can't change how many pixel they physically have, they need to upscale in order for the image to fill the entire screen.
The question is only, how well your TV does it. Quality of upscaling can vary a lot from one TV to another.
@larryisaman Well, how obvious the difference between resolutions is depends on multiple factors.
On a smaller TV you won't notice it as easily.
It is also less obvious if you sit further away.
And then the quality of your TV also plays a big role as the TV also upscales the picture by itself. If your TV does this very well, a 1080p signal might look kinda close to 4k.
Some games may also profit more from it than others.
Combine these four factors and it could either be very obvious, barely visible, or anything in between...
@Ludovsky Of course there are emotions and guts reactions on the stock market. The point is, that those equalize each other out, making them irrelevant over long term.
This news over Nintendo losing 6% is a great example to use. Something bad happened (major product delayed) therefore stock prices go down a bit (6% is really not much at all...). But if you just look over a timespan that is a little longer, you will immediately notice how little that actually did. Over the last week, Nintendo only lost 1.9%, which is essentially nothing and yes, this already includes the recent 6% drop. If we look over the entire month, Nintendo has, all in all, gone up 3.2%, which is just very stable.
Point being: A sudden 6% drop like this doesn't even matter to any serious investor. If there is a different reason, that could cause actual long term problems for the company, those would be much more interesting.
@blindsquarel There is quite a lot of space between those two extremes you are talking about though. I don't think anyone here who says they want a bit more of a challenge necessarily wants the game to be brutally hard.
My launch Switch just recently developed a slight case of drift on one of its original Joy Cons, slight enough for me to not really care yet. Apart from that, everything works perfectly like day 1.
@mariomaster96 Nope, I didn't compare "illegally downloading Nintendo games to simply buying a different device". You said in your post, that it is fine to go after videos even if it is explicitly does not support piracy, just because Nintendo doesn't like it.
@glaemay And if Valve cared about that, they would have designed the system differently. Let's be serious here, you will have a hard time finding people who use Steam Deck and never buy Steam games. The amount of people who would do that is probably so low, that it is irrelevant.
@mariomaster96
And I don't understand arguments like this.
Of course Nintendo doesn't want this. Nintendo also doesn't want you to buy other consoles at all. Nintendo probably also doesn't want you to give one of their games a bad review.
What Nintendo wants should be completely irrelevant as long as they have no legal leverage and that is where the arguments you are referencing come into play.
@Yorumi Though I am not sure how different the market really is. Quite a few PC gamers seem to have a Nintendo console on the side, the PC + Nintendo combo is not uncommon and I feel like you can see that here as well, many commenters over time were interested in the Steam deck. It's not a stretch to assume that many owners of a Nintendo Switch are interested in a Steam Deck, even if it's not a majority.
But technically you are definitly correct, Steam Deck is especially interesting for people who are PC gamers already, less for those who are not interested in PC gaming (would be interesting to see if Steam Deck changes something about that, though I doubt it.).
@Kiyata I understand expense, but I am not sure what you mean by fragility and especially bulk. OLED screens not being nearly as bulky as LCD is one of its strengths and the system over all couldn't be much smaller either, if you still want an XL with 7" screen.
@Xansies Sure and then let them have Finland, then Sweden, Estonia, how about Turkey, later Canada? Just let them have Poland after that, maybe Germany as well. I mean, we don't want a war between nuclear powers, right? Who knew that world conquest was so easy? The other nuclear powers should try it too.
I would assume they don't include the battle free catching from Arceus, since I could see them making Legends into a spinoff series with that mechanic. Though I could be wrong and Legends could be defined by its old age idea with the gameplay being very similar.
Either way, this has me intrigued now. Interested to see more information.
@Royalblues I have been in a situation like that recently again myself. It was a comparison between DLSS and FSR in a game. they have shown zoomed in screenshots were you could see slight differences. They pointed to some letters in the far distance that were slightly harder to read in one case compared to the other.
It's always a bit surprising to see how many people there are in the comments talking about the major differences, when I would bet that, if you would show them gameplay of only one version, even after they have seen the comparison, and ask them "is this DLSS or FSR now?", they wouldn't be able to tell. I think no one could, at least in that case, lol.
When it comes to te Switch, it mainly sells because of it's portability and the exclusives. I am not sure if the comparison to an Xbox is even relevant for the sales.
@Royalblues Not knowing what the differences are, doesn't make them disappear though. I have an OLED tv here and I love the perfect black it can produce, among other things, it can make one hell of a difference if you watch things where that comes into play. If I had never seen an OLED and owned an QLED, I would still notice that the blacks are not perfect, like I always noticed that on LCD based tvs in the past as well. I know my experience would be better if this issue was solved, I know that, even if I don't know that OLED exists. Knowing the issue is the reason why I wanted an OLED in the first place, I don't need a side by side comparison for that.
I agree with you though generally, when it comes to very slight differences that you wouldn't even notice at all, normally. Some people tend to overreact with those very tiny differences.
OLED vs. QLED is not a good example though, imho. Sometimes differences are big enough that they influence the experience, whether you know the alternatives or not. That is not saying QLED doesn't have it's advantages as well, of course, I could make similar arguments in reverse.
@GameOtaku "I’ve noticed no drops at all. Maybe I’m actually focusing on playing the game to notice as pretty much everyone should be doing."
To be honest, I find that kinda surprising in this case. I tend to not care nearly as much about performance issues as the average guy, I think my brain tends to just ignore them to a degree. But in the case of SMT V, I found the issues to be very noticable at times, even causing me to time an attack wrong one time, because it suddenly startet stuttering (I mean for initiating combat). Still not a big issue for me, as it runs fine most of the time and the combat itself is turn based anyway.
@Mgalens As someone who doesn't care too much about the SMT performance issues, as to me it doesn't hurt the game a lot (partly because it is turn based combat).
I absolutely agree with you, that there is a difference between not caring about a problem and a problem not existing. It comes down to this whole topic of objective vs subjective criticism, with some arguing that objective criticism doesn't exist. Grinds my gears every time... This is a good example, as the performance issues are objectively there. Maybe you don't care, that would be subjective, but it doesn't make the objective issue disappear.
@SwitchForce You can dock the Steam Deck to a TV, I have no idea why you would think that doesn't work. Also I have no idea what you mean by the "PC needs a power outlet" statement. I mean, you can get PCs that don't need that, they are called "Laptop" and also "Steam Deck" among other options. Even if you couldn't dock your Steam Deck, that would still not make it pointless at all, as it gives you the easy ability to play on the go and you could still continue playing at home on the PC you may also have. Doesn't matter though because, again, you can dock the Steam Deck. All you did was explaining to us why the Switch Light is pointless for some reason, and I wouldn't agree with that either.
Though I guess you are just trolling... The naming thing you mentioned is beyond ridiculous.
@P-Man Funny you say that, because that is what they did in Xenoblade 2. There are several countries in Xenoblade 2 and any one of them used a different dialect of english.
I think it is common knowledge in the community why the voices of the first game were in british english. The tweets here points it out as if this was some kind of revelation that changes something. The fact of the matter is, that the voices became iconic and there is nothing wrong with that.
What I always find a liitle strange though, as someone who doesn't have english as first language, is when people act like there is something wrong with the accent. As if the british accent is somehow a weird way of speaking the language, like, well, some strange dialect some people use. The UK is kinda the home country of this language though.
To me, both the american and the british dialect are equaly normal, because widely used as standard dialect in both countries. In fact I didn't even register that they were speaking british english in this trailer, until someone pointed it out. To me, british english isn't any more strange than american english. Only I am a little more used to the american version because of media.
Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes Advance Wars Mario Strikers Front Mission Chrono Chross Kirby Live A Live Mario Kart DLC Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and even Switch Sports potentially.
All of those games I could at the very least see myself buying, if not 100% buying. This is so much in such a short time frame that I will probably not play some of those games just because I don't have the time for all of this.
For me this was maybe the best Direct ever, considering the amount of really interesting games.
I don't really like how this game looks, but that is due to me not liking this PS1 style that the game originally has already.
That being said, I still don't agree with the article. For a remaster this is pretty much exactly what I expect and I may very well buy it, since I never played Chrono Chross and this seems like a perfect opportunity. Certainly better than playing the original (well unless this remaster has problems we don't know of yet, of course).
@JasmineDragon Sure, that is the basic problem with the existence of all the big mega companies.
We need to be careful about mixing those topics though, because Microsoft can have all this power, without having a monopoly in anything. I have seen people on the internet think the law should get involved because Microsoft now has some kind of monopoly and that is simply not the case. That is the reason why I, for example, tend to point out that Microsoft does not have a monopoly yet. It doesn't mean I am ok with what is happening.
@JasmineDragon I think it is pretty obvious, that when people here say that Microsoft doesn't have a monopoly, they mean on the games market and that is definitly correct.
Everything else about them is at least more debatable. Though even Windows "only" has a market share of around 75% to my knowledge. Which is on the edge of what we would consider to be kind of an monopoly.
@JasmineDragon I understand what you mean and you could be right. But the fact that we are talking about it so much suggests the opposite. More articles and talk about it already increases awareness for people stumbling upon this. Tons of games have generic names, that is what the word "generic" suggests in the first place, but for some reason it is this one we are discussing and not so much all the others. And this is not the first time I have seen a discussion about that.

Have to point out a problem here. One of two, depending on your viewpoint:
1. The power button is not part of the controller, but the console itself. So it shouldn't count with the articles premise.
2. If we do count buttons on the Switch itself, then you missed the two buttons for volume control.

Re: Who Needs Switch Pro? New Dongle Promises To "Instantly Upgrade Switch To 4K"
@stevenw45
Actually, every LCD/Plasma/OLED TV (Every TV type currently relevant...) upscales every image to whatever its native resolution is. Since they can't change how many pixel they physically have, they need to upscale in order for the image to fill the entire screen.
The question is only, how well your TV does it. Quality of upscaling can vary a lot from one TV to another.
Re: Who Needs Switch Pro? New Dongle Promises To "Instantly Upgrade Switch To 4K"
@larryisaman
Well, how obvious the difference between resolutions is depends on multiple factors.
Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delay Sees Nintendo Shares Slump 6%
@Ludovsky
Of course there are emotions and guts reactions on the stock market.
Re: The First Review For Kirby And The Forgotten Land Is Now In
@blindsquarel
There is quite a lot of space between those two extremes you are talking about though.
I don't think anyone here who says they want a bit more of a challenge necessarily wants the game to be brutally hard.
Re: Talking Point: How's Your Switch Holding Up After 5 Years?
My launch Switch just recently developed a slight case of drift on one of its original Joy Cons, slight enough for me to not really care yet.
Apart from that, everything works perfectly like day 1.
Re: Steam Deck Nintendo Emulation Videos Are Being Pulled From YouTube
@mariomaster96
Nope, I didn't compare "illegally downloading Nintendo games to simply buying a different device".
You said in your post, that it is fine to go after videos even if it is explicitly does not support piracy, just because Nintendo doesn't like it.
Which I am arguing is nonsense.
Re: Steam Deck Nintendo Emulation Videos Are Being Pulled From YouTube
@glaemay
And if Valve cared about that, they would have designed the system differently.
Let's be serious here, you will have a hard time finding people who use Steam Deck and never buy Steam games.
The amount of people who would do that is probably so low, that it is irrelevant.
Re: Steam Deck Nintendo Emulation Videos Are Being Pulled From YouTube
@mariomaster96
Re: Random: Uh Oh, It Looks Like Steam Deck And Switch Might Have One Thing In Common
@Yorumi
Though I am not sure how different the market really is.
Re: 'Switch Pro' Trends On Social Media After Massive Nvidia Leak Reignites Speculation
@Kiyata
I understand expense, but I am not sure what you mean by fragility and especially bulk.
OLED screens not being nearly as bulky as LCD is one of its strengths and the system over all couldn't be much smaller either, if you still want an XL with 7" screen.
Re: Promotion Of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Reveal "Significantly Reduced" Due To "Major World Events"
@Xansies
Sure and then let them have Finland, then Sweden, Estonia, how about Turkey, later Canada?
Just let them have Poland after that, maybe Germany as well.
I mean, we don't want a war between nuclear powers, right? Who knew that world conquest was so easy? The other nuclear powers should try it too.
Re: Gallery: Here's A Look At The New Open World In Pokémon Scarlet And Violet
I would assume they don't include the battle free catching from Arceus, since I could see them making Legends into a spinoff series with that mechanic.
Though I could be wrong and Legends could be defined by its old age idea with the gameplay being very similar.
Either way, this has me intrigued now. Interested to see more information.
Re: Atlus Announces Soul Hackers 2, But It's Not Coming To Switch
@Royalblues
I have been in a situation like that recently again myself.
Re: Atlus Announces Soul Hackers 2, But It's Not Coming To Switch
@Royalblues
Not knowing what the differences are, doesn't make them disappear though.
Re: Atlus Announces Soul Hackers 2, But It's Not Coming To Switch
@GameOtaku
"I’ve noticed no drops at all.
Can't say I didn't notice the issue though.
Re: Atlus Announces Soul Hackers 2, But It's Not Coming To Switch
@Mgalens
As someone who doesn't care too much about the SMT performance issues, as to me it doesn't hurt the game a lot (partly because it is turn based combat).
Re: Random: Here's Steam Deck Running The GameCube And Wii Emulator Dolphin
@SwitchForce
You can dock the Steam Deck to a TV, I have no idea why you would think that doesn't work.
Re: Poll: Do You Have An Issue With Xenoblade Chronicles' Accents?
@P-Man
Funny you say that, because that is what they did in Xenoblade 2.
There are several countries in Xenoblade 2 and any one of them used a different dialect of english.
Re: Poll: Do You Have An Issue With Xenoblade Chronicles' Accents?
Re: Round Up: Everything Announced In The February 2022 Nintendo Direct - Every Game Reveal And Trailer
Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes
Advance Wars
Mario Strikers
Front Mission
Chrono Chross
Kirby
Live A Live
Mario Kart DLC
Xenoblade Chronicles 3
and even Switch Sports potentially.
All of those games I could at the very least see myself buying, if not 100% buying.
This is so much in such a short time frame that I will probably not play some of those games just because I don't have the time for all of this.
For me this was maybe the best Direct ever, considering the amount of really interesting games.
Re: Chrono Cross Is Getting A Remaster, And Boy Does It Look Rough
I don't really like how this game looks, but that is due to me not liking this PS1 style that the game originally has already.
That being said, I still don't agree with the article. For a remaster this is pretty much exactly what I expect and I may very well buy it, since I never played Chrono Chross and this seems like a perfect opportunity. Certainly better than playing the original (well unless this remaster has problems we don't know of yet, of course).
Re: Konami Is Committed To NFTs In Order To Preserve Beloved Content As "Commemorative Art"
@Dragonstar
So if I dislike something, I may not speak about it, if what they are doing is legal?
Gotcha.
I hope you don't ever voice your discontent over anything that isn't illegal. It would make you a hypocrite.
Re: Konami Is Committed To NFTs In Order To Preserve Beloved Content As "Commemorative Art"
There are a million ways to preserve art, especially through the internet.
NFTs are not one of them.
Re: Soapbox: Don't Cheer For Corporate Takeovers - It's Not A Game
@JasmineDragon
Sure, that is the basic problem with the existence of all the big mega companies.
Re: Soapbox: Don't Cheer For Corporate Takeovers - It's Not A Game
@JasmineDragon
I think it is pretty obvious, that when people here say that Microsoft doesn't have a monopoly, they mean on the games market and that is definitly correct.
Everything else about them is at least more debatable.
Though even Windows "only" has a market share of around 75% to my knowledge. Which is on the edge of what we would consider to be kind of an monopoly.
Re: Talking Point: Triangle Strategy Is A Bad Name, Which Hopefully Won't Matter
@JasmineDragon
I understand what you mean and you could be right.
