Yeah not a horrible game despite me always cringing when I think about Sengoku. The first one did suck but this one is actually solid & Sengoku 3 is even better from what I remember.
^ They should most definitely be compatible since they use the wiimote which is compatible. I have a Tatsunoku stick I picked up for $40 or something. The Hori sticks usually aren't easily customized especially the lower end ones.
Glad to see a stick right out the gate though, means there might actually be some games that make use of it. For Wii there isn't a lot you would want to use it for except virtual console and tatsunoku.
GX was way too hard that was my problem with that game, I could have got really good at it but lacked the patience. It also had way too many cars (little difference between them). I'd like to see a new F-Zero but pair back the cars to 10, make a decent soundtrack, have really tight game play and tracks that blow you away.
Maybe I will pop F-Zero GX in my Wii tonight, give it a run through again. F-Zero for SNES was a pretty much perfect game at the time and F-Zero X was also really good I just wish I owned it back in the day.
It's weird that not one browser actually fully supports every function. I get 434 + 8 with Chrome on PC. The Xbox one isn't surprising, when I run IE9 on PC I get 138.
The first one is far better. I'd give this one an 8 and the second game a 6. The pre-rendered visuals of the second are a bit cheesy, soundtrack not nearly as good, replay is much less due to more paths, and the gameplay suffers too.
Yeah for that price I'd expect a much more detailed paint job. Still it's good if you have loads of money and want to purchase a clean and guaranteed to be working system.
Pretty good list, can't really argue much. I have almost all those games just missing No More Heroes & Smash Brothers. Wii Sports had a huge impact though it's really not a "quality" title. I'd put Wii Sports in a "most influential" or "biggest impact" list. Galaxy 2 really probably is the best game on the system overall even if I may like some aspects of other games more. Not a big Smash Brothers fan (too floaty) so I'd probably put de Blob there instead.
Price isn't THAT bad but I agree about being tied to the system. People get new systems, some people have multiple systems per house (and don't necessarily play them at the same time). Nintendo has a modern offering of downloadable titles but their social/user management is still stuck in the late 90s.
Steam has been offering a great service for years. I've been using the same account since it went open beta and I've played the games I've bought on probably more than 6 different PC's over the years.
The other thing that bugs me is the virtual console games. Those games should not require purchasing over & over again. I understand that owning the original SNES cartridge maybe shouldn't get you a free downloadable copy but if you bought it for Wii it should be available for WiiU & 3DS provided they offer it. Separate the game from the emulation, the game itself doesn't require any coding and if the emulation is good it should apply to most games for that system.
Only know from playing Borderlands 2, I'm not familiar with his other work. Borderlands 2 is definitely solid but hasn't blown me away. That said it's an action game and I get lost in the action. Didn't play Mass Effect 3 yet but the first two had excellent soundtracks but were done by Jack Wall. Deus Ex: Invisible War also had an amazing soundtrack.
Game looks great. Wish they dropped the "U" from the name though.
This doesn't make any sense. Why are they the Mario brothers if not having a last name Mario? Perhaps their last name is Mario and only Luigi has a first name.
8 is a great score this game was hated by a lot of people and it's finally getting some recognition. Lot's of people are coming out of the woodwork claiming to love this game!
John Carmack is a genius. His games I feel always lack something special in terms of gameplay, story etc (especially single player) but they seem to have a certain goal in mind and perfect it up to that level. The coding is extremely tight with excellent controls, level design, graphic work. If you stop thinking "They could have added this or that" you basically come down to a perfect game. Much like Nintendo they make a polished product whether you like it or not.
I think of Core or Hardcore gamers as the ones that play all the marketing hype franchises like COD etc. They play hyped up games with good graphics and ok gameplay. They play a lot of the games that I've given up on because they don't live up to the hype or come anywhere near what review scores seem to suggest. Still there are a ton of games the Wii doesn't have that I like to play.
I didn't realize until recently that this series suffers from the every other game is good disease. '94 was my favorite for a long time, I can't remember 96 all that much but yeah I played '98 probably the most.
Ahh before all the dual screen crap. Nothing wrong with the DS/3DS but going to those bulky systems from the GBA SP was a step backwards in the portability department. I've got 3 original Gameboy's, 1 GBA original, and 1 AGS-101 GBA SP.
Well graphic are important, they may not be the #1 importance but they play a big factor. Take a game like Super Mario Galaxy, the graphics could be better but its hard to pick out any flaws and the game is a lot of fun there arent many games like it though. Some games need good graphics to help immerse you in the world. Sure ideally every game would be fun on its own merit but this is the real world.
Your review is pretty much perfect, exactly my thoughts on the game back when it was released and the years following. I learned to appreciate it more in more recent years but still an 8 is about right. Hopefully we see X3 because that game was as good if not better than the first music and all.

Re: Guess What? Wii U Discs Have A Rounded Edge
Wii supports Dual Layer though I can only think of Metroid Prime Trilogy & Super Smash Brothers Brawl, and maybe Xenogears that use them.

Re: Capcom Loses Rights to Sell Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars
I wish there was a translated Japanese version because there are many aspects I prefer in that one over the american release.
Re: The Legend of Zelda's Link Was Inspired By Walt Disney's Peter Pan
Green was the only bright colour clothing available back in the day, every hero wore it =p
Wasn't there some relation to Legend with Tom Cruise? That movie is far too similar.

Re: Nintendo Is Holding Back Wii U Titles To Maintain Momentum Into 2013
Well then they should be discounted because they will be old by the time the come out =p
Re: Nintendo Download: 25th October 2012 (North America)
Shock Troopers is good, the sequel though is a bit of a mess. Pretty much worse in every way.
Re: Young Boy Thinks Gameboy Micro Is The Latest Nintendo Handheld
Truly the only bad thing about the GBA/Micro is the lack of an original Mario game,

Yeah this is one of if not my favorite fighter of all time.
Re: MCV: Wii U Is A Stopgap System, Real Successor Is Still To Come
That's such BS. Nintendo little to nothing to combat the Xbox360/PS3 what makes him think this would be any different?

@rjejr Good, glad someone else is also negative and pessimistic!

Knowing those RARE devs despite this not being actually Banjo & Kazooie they will make it into a running joke and part of the story.

RBFF2 Ain't bad though I never was a huge fan of fighting on 2 2D planes front and back.

Re: Ex-Rare Staffer: Exodus Wouldn't Have Happened Under Nintendo
Starfox Adventures is a bad example because it was created for the N64 and then rush ported to the Gamecube.
Re: Check Out Dinosaur Planet, Before it Was Invaded by Star Fox
Probably would have been a better game on the N64. RARE was so busy during those days.
Re: This Super Metroid Cover Will Blow Your Mind
I wasn't expecting much usually these covers are a bit of a let down but this one is really good.

Re: Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles Helped to Save NES
Britain has Ninjas it's just if you say their name you will instantly die.
Re: Review: World Heroes Perfect (Wii Virtual Console / Neo Geo)

Re: Iwata: Wii U Won't Repeat 3DS Price Mistake
I will pay up to $900 US. No more.
Re: Feature: The Future of GameCube on Wii U
I want widescreen & HD resolutions though otherwise I'll just hookup one of my 4 Gamecubes.
Re: Review: The Last Blade (Wii Virtual Console / Neo Geo)
^ Technically a prequel is a sequel with events that occur before the original. The term prequel doesn't apply to versions prior to a sequel.
Great game and it is pretty deep. It's much less of a button masher than other fighters.
Re: Ubisoft 'Not Really Saying' That Rayman Legends is Wii U Exclusive
There is no way it will be Wii exclusive, exclusive means nothing anyways, usually it just means exclusive for a limited time.
Re: Preview: Wii U Hands-On
I find the technology really interesting but that's as far as my interest goes at the moment.

Re: Review: Mega Man X2 (Wii Virtual Console / Super Nintendo)
Waveboy if you like MMX MMX2 is more of the same like the review says but still far better than X4 on. X3 though is definitely worth playing.

Re: Nintendo Download: 7th June 2012 (North America)
Last Blade is one of my favorite fighting games. It's a lot more tactical than Samurai Shodown.
Re: E3 2012: Wii U Tech Specs Revealed
Hopefully you can run stuff off SD card directly instead of it having to copy to flash first.
Re: Review: Metal Slug 3 (Wii Virtual Console / Neo Geo)
Good points about the anthology, I'll try the VC versions since I have an arcade stick.
Re: Nintendo Download: 31st May 2012 (Europe)
X2 is good but a bit of a step backwards in quality from X1 (music and such), X3 makes up for any misstep though.
