Re: Hori Releasing Wii U Arcade Stick In The UK This December

JebbyDeringer

^ They should most definitely be compatible since they use the wiimote which is compatible. I have a Tatsunoku stick I picked up for $40 or something. The Hori sticks usually aren't easily customized especially the lower end ones.

Glad to see a stick right out the gate though, means there might actually be some games that make use of it. For Wii there isn't a lot you would want to use it for except virtual console and tatsunoku.

Re: Miyamoto Puzzled As To Why Anyone Would Want A New F-Zero

JebbyDeringer

GX was way too hard that was my problem with that game, I could have got really good at it but lacked the patience. It also had way too many cars (little difference between them). I'd like to see a new F-Zero but pair back the cars to 10, make a decent soundtrack, have really tight game play and tracks that blow you away.

Maybe I will pop F-Zero GX in my Wii tonight, give it a run through again. F-Zero for SNES was a pretty much perfect game at the time and F-Zero X was also really good I just wish I owned it back in the day.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Life's Top 20 Wii Games

JebbyDeringer

Pretty good list, can't really argue much. I have almost all those games just missing No More Heroes & Smash Brothers. Wii Sports had a huge impact though it's really not a "quality" title. I'd put Wii Sports in a "most influential" or "biggest impact" list. Galaxy 2 really probably is the best game on the system overall even if I may like some aspects of other games more. Not a big Smash Brothers fan (too floaty) so I'd probably put de Blob there instead.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Takes One Step Forward, One Back With Retail Downloads

JebbyDeringer

Price isn't THAT bad but I agree about being tied to the system. People get new systems, some people have multiple systems per house (and don't necessarily play them at the same time). Nintendo has a modern offering of downloadable titles but their social/user management is still stuck in the late 90s.

Steam has been offering a great service for years. I've been using the same account since it went open beta and I've played the games I've bought on probably more than 6 different PC's over the years.

The other thing that bugs me is the virtual console games. Those games should not require purchasing over & over again. I understand that owning the original SNES cartridge maybe shouldn't get you a free downloadable copy but if you bought it for Wii it should be available for WiiU & 3DS provided they offer it. Separate the game from the emulation, the game itself doesn't require any coding and if the emulation is good it should apply to most games for that system.

Re: Mass Effect fans, Take Note: Cris Velasco Is Scoring ZombiU's Soundtrack

JebbyDeringer

Only know from playing Borderlands 2, I'm not familiar with his other work. Borderlands 2 is definitely solid but hasn't blown me away. That said it's an action game and I get lost in the action. Didn't play Mass Effect 3 yet but the first two had excellent soundtracks but were done by Jack Wall. Deus Ex: Invisible War also had an amazing soundtrack.

Game looks great. Wish they dropped the "U" from the name though.

Re: Doom 3 BFG Edition Could Come To Wii U, If There's Time

JebbyDeringer

John Carmack is a genius. His games I feel always lack something special in terms of gameplay, story etc (especially single player) but they seem to have a certain goal in mind and perfect it up to that level. The coding is extremely tight with excellent controls, level design, graphic work. If you stop thinking "They could have added this or that" you basically come down to a perfect game. Much like Nintendo they make a polished product whether you like it or not.

Re: Rayman Creator: Wii U Is For The Core Gamer

JebbyDeringer

I think of Core or Hardcore gamers as the ones that play all the marketing hype franchises like COD etc. They play hyped up games with good graphics and ok gameplay. They play a lot of the games that I've given up on because they don't live up to the hype or come anywhere near what review scores seem to suggest. Still there are a ton of games the Wii doesn't have that I like to play.

Re: Wii U Power Lacks a 'Generational Leap'

JebbyDeringer

Well graphic are important, they may not be the #1 importance but they play a big factor. Take a game like Super Mario Galaxy, the graphics could be better but its hard to pick out any flaws and the game is a lot of fun there arent many games like it though. Some games need good graphics to help immerse you in the world. Sure ideally every game would be fun on its own merit but this is the real world.

Re: Review: Mega Man X2 (Wii Virtual Console / Super Nintendo)

JebbyDeringer

Your review is pretty much perfect, exactly my thoughts on the game back when it was released and the years following. I learned to appreciate it more in more recent years but still an 8 is about right. Hopefully we see X3 because that game was as good if not better than the first music and all.
