The problem with GameStop is there old sales mentality. When you go into the store they always ask about “game protection” even if you’re getting a cartridge. How many of you have broken a cartridge and needed to buy the protection/insurance? Many would rather buy online and not be asked what games they want to preorder, if they want insurance etc. it just screams desperate for “add-on” sales which are the definition of a dying company. Look at pier-1 always asking if you wanted their credit cards. Most customers like to buy something and not be pressured into buying more. Also I went to buy a Nintendo Online 1 year family card and they didn’t have any. It’s GameStop they are supposed to have any and all things game related. That’s just my two cents. Sorry for the long post.

Oh and you should consider for your next soap box how games used to cost $40 USD and came with awesome manuals and now games cost $60+ and don’t include any inserts. I know the cost and time to make a game has gone up, but so have profits.

Great article. I do feel it’s especially relevant given the switch is a port machine for Wii U. While not entirely new, I’d love to see Nintendo make a new Wario Land or aYoshi’s Island akin to the SNES version not the new yarn or craft stuff. Revisiting some of the old franchises that have been left alone for a while would help tremendously too, like f-zero. Anyways like for ranting about something I can relate to.

The only thing I need to know is if there will be a physical copy of this. It’s not looking good for ninja Gaiden or Stubbs the zombie.

@VR32X me too. Physical is key. I like the convenience of digital, but without physical copy it’s a no go. Can’t believe no websites have confirmed if it’s physical release or not.

It does suck working at a desk all day, but I’ve also had jobs where you are in a warehouse all day. Truth is no matter what we do, if we do it all the time, it will eventually take its toll. Thus the best way to live life is through variety and moderation. T’would be nice if we never had to worry about injuries. I long for the days that I could play video games all night. Good times. @SM3DASislit I would agree except that Hulu arrived pretty early on in the switch years. I’m not sure what is causing the delay from other streaming services other than it may not be worth it in their eyes.

I would be all in for a switch pro that made it easier for third party games. I want the option to buy some of the big third party games that won’t take another developer months long to make it playable on the switch after it’s been out for a while.

I know switch originally wanted to focus on “games” but does anyone know why they didn’t release any other streaming apps other than Hulu, YouTube and now Funimation of all things?

I wish I knew enough coding/ software to get a position like this.

@nessisonett I disagree, this comment section is for the readers opinions not facts. Therefor what moderators check for are people that use insults etc (check the community rules.) They are not to check for facts.

@Andy_Witmyer right on. It’s funny all the people that claim to be accepting of others are the first to call you names for “wanting to enjoy your life”. I had Covid and survived. If you’re at risk by all means take your precautions, but no need to shut down the world and be mean to others who want to enjoy it. If I died tomorrow at least I know I enjoyed my life.

@HeyItsFlapjack I think he is making a point saying that if we rely on on adapting our world “by whoever is offended” we will eventually get to a place where we cancel everything because someone is always offended. 99% of the time these days we hear about people being offended on social media. Which is used pretty anonymously for the most part. It’s a scary thought to think that companies use anonymous quotes from social media to get a general vibe of the public.

You guys have to fill me in. If I’m not mistaken, super smash ultimate has no voice chat unless you use the silly phone app. How is the smash community exposed as bad or the worst part about the game? Is it via YouTube or tournaments?

@Dr_Corndog I wouldn’t always use “white male” as the example as non-diverse. True diversity is diversity of thought which can come from a group of white males from a completely different background.

Great job on this opinion article Alex. You bring up some valid points. I do think a major problem is everyone buys Pokémon games regardless of the quality (that I’m guilty of myself). One thing I would like to see is starting out with main starters that aren’t the standard fire, water, and grass type. Anyways thanks for the interesting perspective.

@ummyeahnintendo I agree we need more games, but I also think if the switch is upgraded enough internally it will be easier to get more 3rd party support. So I say the world does need an upgraded switch.
