I just hope Australia gets something, anything. I'll buy this or the Animal Crossing XL one, heck even the Fire Emblem XL. It's so hard to import a console because a small defect will take weeks to exchange.
Codemasters is dead, they've run the F1 franchise into the ground already and they are everything that's wrong with the ever-diminishing racing genre in 2013.
Take out all the cutscenes, career-based unlockables, improve the interface, remove the tutorials, remove EVERYTHING that isn't driving-related and stop treating every player like a moron and I'll buy it. Call it "Wii U - Gameplay Edition".
We do need more motor racing love but Codemasters wont be the one to provide it. There's a huge opportunity on Wii U for someone to step up and make a proper racing game with real driving being the focus, free of an achievement and trophy system.
Great review, it's a hard game to explain but you nailed it. It's nice to hear people giving this game a chance. Very worthwhile experience even if it's not the best "game".
360 version is probably identical, it's not like this game is pushing any boundaries. It uses no Wii U features at all except off-screen play and the same bottom screen from the 3DS game.
@WiiURockz i'm not judging all games, just Capcom's effort. Monster Hunter is just a Wii upgrade too that makes the GamePad feel like a burden. What's the point? It's Wii all over again where crappy clones of Wii Sports were the best use of the system. If developers don't give a damn then I wont either.
The game is unplayable to me after ZombiU, I keep holding up the GamePad to scan as a reflex. Terrible controls, Wii U games are already taking a step backwards. It doesn't even use the GamePad speaker.
The WiiWare game was incredible, flawless controls and wonderful graphics. My only problem is still, to this day I haven't been able to find one of the collectables. I swear I've explored every inch of the beautiful game but it just doesn't exist.
The character design fits the bill I think. Fast, clean, gets poop done. It's a symbol of the game. Can't wait to try this on my 3DS.
It's a damn email reply. Every experience I've read ended up with Nintendo replacing the games for the user. They simply aren't going to say "oh yeah, lose your 3DS, throw it away no problem" because they don't want to reimburse Joe Casual at the drop of a hat.
They'll sort the account system eventually, but so far people are worrying about something that hasn't even happened yet
"New release" buzz is overrated, look at Luigi sticking to #5 in the charts for two weeks straight. Knowing Nintendo lately, people won't even know the game exists until after it's out. A game like Brain Training is a steady seller because it ALWAYS HAS BEEN, has Nintendo forgotten everything about the original DS? Brain Training certainly didn't sell millions in it's first month.
Launch timing is a load of crap, the rumour is pushing it to September which hilariously sticks it right next to Pokemon.
These guys are doing a great job, I was surprised to see Code of Princess making it's way to Europe and Australia. Keep releasing games and I'll keep buying them.
What's also strange is Mighty Switch Force HD has been rated a few weeks ago, and still no sign of it. It took Trine 2 about a month after being rated to arrive here too. There's a general wave of incompetence at the OFLC that seems to be the bigger problem.
Ken, the fee is small, but it's still larger than the amount of sales the game will get here. 23 million people means nothing when less than 100 people buy your game on the eShop. Small developers don't have the luxury of this "piddly" risk.
Plus, most of us have learned to buy from the European eShop by now. The fee may be piddly but it's the catalyst that started all this. My question is, what the hell do we do about it? Why doesn't the government care, are they just too dumb to recognise the benefits of having a healthy market?
Lego City's sales are baffling me, the Miiverse isn't too popular either. It's by far the best game on Wii U and uses all of Wii U's features very well. What are gamers doing?
January 13 isn't an early adoption, you were a month late.
The answer is shut up and play games, and lead by example. It's really not complicated, Wii U has great games. It had great launch games in fact the best launch lineup in history. Play them, ignore the crap and people will notice that.
Are you a customer or an analyst? Is Nintendo a half-hearted company or are you a half-hearted gamer? Your problems are all exterior factors, third parties were always going to drop the ball. Forget about them. Battlefield 4 isn't even out. If you really want a dudebro shooter, play Black Ops 2. Wii U has the best version of the game. If you play Metroid to feel "awesome" you're doing it wrong, that was embarrassing to read.
Damn, they toned down Traffic Attack? Sure, it was frustrating but INCREDIBLY rewarding when you finished it. The challenge was fair despite it's difficulty and it feels amazing when you're in the zone.
Improved motion controls sounds interesting, I already loved them. Can't wait to try this.
Yep, he's a wanker. He said Japanese games suck in a panel with a Japanese developer calmly listening to his drivel, just plain rude. Indie developers have a big ego problem lately.
Nintendo does a great job here with PR and events, face-to-face communications. Having been to most of these events I can say they're outstanding, especially compared to Microsoft and Sony who don't show up to anything.
Problem is the eShop is garbage and unfortunately our government is half the problem there. We've basically got none of the games in the last month. Still waiting on Mighty Switch Force HD. The content + prices are ultimately the only thing that matter.
Analog stick for acceleration is possible yes, but awful and clunky.
There's no reason Wii U shouldn't support the current Logitech wheels... PC / PS3 / PS2 all do, the only reason Xbox doesn't is because Microsoft wanted to charge a huge licensing fee to Logitech. I doubt Nintendo would be so forward thinking with this genre so it might just work without any restrictions. That's my hopelessly optimistic logic, anyhow. Accessory Drivers could be downloadable or packed-in the game.
Firebrand are a quality studio and they know how to do motion wheel controls, Trackmania on Wii is fantastic. Hopefully this game has enough development time to be good, seems like it came out of nowhere.
Yeah, I don't see the point either. You're just scanning stuff to flick a switch? I can't see that adding anything that can't already be done. If anyone can prove otherwise though, it's Nintendo.

Damn it. So this is where that Last of Us tweet led to.
Super Metroid tells a better story than this review-pandering garbage.

The timing is a bit awkward too with Lego City out TODAY. The game is amazing and we should be playing it not whining like entitled princesses.

BTW, there's plenty of "old-school Zelda" difficulty in Nintendo Land.

I'd much rather let PlatinumGames work on new stuff and keep Capcom away. Nobody asked for "Okami" in the first place and we got it and loved it.
