Re: Capcom: The Next Gen Doesn't Start With Wii U

Grubdog

I guess Capcom will be late to the party again. In two years time they'll be complaining that they can't compete with Nintendo and UbiSoft's strong momentum and we'll never know what they could have done.

Isn't it a sad state when UbiSoft is making everyone else look bad?

My point remains that they haven't given the European / US audience a chance. The Link / Samus gimmick is also much stronger in the west, Zelda and Metroid are basically dead in Japan. Tecmo of all companies should know that. (LOL Other M)

But after seeing how abysmal the game's sales were in Japan, I figured there wouldn't be much of a chance of it coming out over here.

Shouldn't that be the whole reason they DO bring it here? They've already made the game, may as well give another audience a chance. MY MONEY IS READY!

Why are they doing this? The series HAS A MARKET, Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3DS sold it's entire European shipment, it was in demand to the point of going for double the standard retail price on eBay. I know this because it took me forever to track down a copy (but so worth it, the game is very good). They've been sabotaging their own franchise from the start.

The SAME BLOKE in this story, Chin Soon Sung said they "underestimated" the demand for Samurai Warriors on 3DS - http://pietriots.com/2011/06/05/publishers-underestimated-huge-3ds-demand/

So their solution is... to stop selling it entirely? Yeah sure, great way to avoid shortages. I was going to buy this.

Re: Talking Point: Is Nintendo Over-Reliant on Super Mario?

Grubdog

Is Nintendo Over-Reliant on Videogames? Maybe they should change their name to Electrophonics, just for a change?

We had a nice "break" from Mario platformers between Mario 64 and Sunshine as you said, did it help Sunshine become the most anticipated game ever? It made NO DIFFERENCE WHATSOEVER. It wasn't "refreshing" or great to have no Mario games on GBA, in the end we just had less fun Mario games to play, and having 3 Mario games on Wii is incredibly great and an example of the huge wave of inspiration Nintendo is riding right now. We easily could have not had SMG2 with its crazy "let's do more!" level design, and we'd be missing out on one of the best games of all time.

To suggest they stop doing what they do best is baffling, it's like saying The Beatles made too many albums.

Re: Review: Mario Party 9 (Wii)

While Mario Party 9 is certainly a step up for the series, all the hate directed at Hudson for the previous games is unfortunate. It's still pretty much the same team making the game, as many Hudson employees were absorbed by Nintendo. With Mario Party 9, it seems they have finally been able to use Nintendos own assets - the graphics take a lot of tricks from Super Mario Galaxy and Skyward Sword and they've taken advantage of a lot of new things in the Extras.

After playing that glorious marble rolling mini-game in Mario Party 9, i'm convinced it's still the same Hudson at the helm - the tilt controls are IDENTICAL to Hudsons own Kororinpa.
