At the weekend, we reported on the rumour that Dr Kawashima’s Devilish Brain Training: Can You Stay Focused? — which is known as Brain Age: Concentration Training in North America — was being pushed back from its proposed European April 12th release date to later in the year.
We approached Nintendo for clarification, and have received the following statement this morning:
Nintendo has made the decision to push back the launch date of Dr Kawashima's Devilish Brain Training: Can You Stay Focused? for Nintendo 3DS to optimise the best possible launch timing of this title within the European market. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and we hope to announce a new launch date soon.
So there you have it — Dr Kawashima's unique brand of mental training is going to be happening a bit later in Europe. UK retailer GAME currently has the game down for a September release, which seems feasible.
While delays are always slightly annoying, in this case we have to admit we're slightly relieved; with Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon already available and the sublime Fire Emblem: Awakening hitting European stores on April 19th, the 3DS is hardly short on titles at the moment. Had Dr Kawashima’s Devilish Brain Training launched on the 12th, there's a danger that it could have gotten lost in the crush.
What are your thoughts on this? Are you also grateful for Nintendo pacing its 3DS releases in Europe, or were you looking forward to testing your powers of concentration this month?

That is completely true.
I can see why they did it I suppose. 3DS line up is stellar so its delay isn't a huge "loss" at all.
It's hard enough juggling MH, LM2 & DS:O (still not run into crashes/freezes) as it is. Not to forget Awakening will arrive on the 19th. I wasn't even targeting this game, there's just far too much going on for the 3DS this year.
That's all fair enough.
But it's becoming a worrying habit and trend that publishers are making delays at the last minute.
its ok. but i want the new puzzle panel
Delay = "we are selling so much good title, that we need something for later..."
((
They better not do that to Animal Crossing New Leaf.
There will be a VERY noisy riot of at least one person if they do!
(Though I'm not expecting it)
NOE,stop this or im turning to sony
"New release" buzz is overrated, look at Luigi sticking to #5 in the charts for two weeks straight. Knowing Nintendo lately, people won't even know the game exists until after it's out. A game like Brain Training is a steady seller because it ALWAYS HAS BEEN, has Nintendo forgotten everything about the original DS? Brain Training certainly didn't sell millions in it's first month.
Launch timing is a load of crap, the rumour is pushing it to September which hilariously sticks it right next to Pokemon.
Well, it's now 29th July 2017 and this game is actually out. Over FOUR years after this statement! Guess that Nintendo finally got around to optimising the best possible launch timing of this title within the European market...
