I just got the game and a 4 is generous. The difficulty wouldn't be that bad if the controls were responsive and the game didn't lag so hard. I swear it runs at 5 frames per second. Very jarring and it's hard to even see what you're doing let alone play well. Just a poorly optimised game, I'm not sure if it's a bad Switch port or the framerate is this bad everywhere. It's a shame because I dig the style and this type of game.
@rjejr you just gave yourself a reason to. Set the Amiibo free or you're not living life to the fullest.
Great interview, still more ideas to come? That's incredible considering the amount of surprises in Woolly World. It feels like they threw everything at this game. The level design is absolutely top class, it's already surpassed Yoshi's Island for me and I'm only in World 4.
Load of rubbish. People check Tweets and Facebook every 5 seconds. You get the information you deserve, Nintendo can't win in the fight for peoples withering attention spans and they would go bankrupt if they spent the same amount as Microsoft or Sony. Nintendo has nothing to benefit from comparisons.
Why would they advertise when they are losing money? Waste of time competing with MS and Sony for advertising.
Furthermore, why would any GAMER care about advertising for games you already know about? That is the sole purpose of advertising is it not? So lead by example.
I think Nintendo's high sales estimates for Wii U were fair, it's an amazing system. They didn't expect smartphones to rot peoples brains, and now they simply need to do more work to communicate to consumers.
@WaveBoy oh god, Ju-On was terrifying for all the WRONG reasons! I appreciate the atmosphere but the controls and movement were a struggle. It was very low budget.
@AJWolfTill YES! Absolutely stunning game, I had never played the original though. The environments are extremely well done with lots of detail and it's one of the best looking (and sounding) Wii games. I found the motion controls a bit weird but I think that was intentional. The pointing is very restricted and the whole game feels like you're handicapped in terms of movement, but not in a bad way. Probably tied with REmake as the scariest game I've played, very similar feeling actually.
I love this game. I beat the entire thing in a mammoth 15 hour sitting the first time I played, it was so engaging I didn't even notice. The chase sequences were legitimately terrifying and I haven't got that feeling from any other game, everything you did mattered. All your choices, all your movements. Graphics were outstanding too, still the best snow I've seen in any game on any console. It felt so good to use the pointer as well, most Wii games didn't bother to utilise the console properly.
I would love for the Wii U to get some psychological horror games, the GamePad is screaming for it, Miiverse could work too. Imagine if a game linked you to a fake Miiverse where everybody called you crazy.
@Einherjar that's fair, I expected it to be bad after hearing microtransactions were in the game (GT6). However, I've beaten the entire career mode, got every gold and there's been none. Without the internet I wouldn't know they're even there, unlike Forza 5 which has constant reminders every time you finish a race to buy credits. It's only an external option if you visit the PSN store (which I still hate) and doesn't impact the game. Seems more like Sony's doing than Polyphony's. Luckily Nintendo will never enforce crap like this, and hopefully more devs realise the freedom they would have on Wii U.
As MAB said it's nice to have an uncluttered screen, especially for screenshots and Miiverse posting! You might see something in the rear mirror while paused =) I'm really glad they're keen on using the Miiverse properly, it's become such a big part of Wii U games for me.
^ GT6 thankfully didn't go through that road, the career mode has been extremely polished up and accessible, with all the events being free and credits practically being given away. I'm amazed Polyphony went in the right direction. Forza 5 is a complete joke though and barely even resembles a videogame.
Looking forward to PCARS my only question still remains though, analog throttle?
Eh, kinda pointless to focus on "developing games" we can't play. I agree the ratings companies are terrible (especially as an Australian), but it's necessary and you just have to deal with it like every other developer. They aren't reading this article so it's just useless whining.
@Araknie I don't care if it's an overreaction. I was buying the game, now I'm not. There's enough games to buy now that I can stand by this conviction. Trolling Pokemon will get you nowhere, the game is the amazing and the biggest leap the series has ever had.
On the other hand, I don't see what your conviction is unless you work for Square-Enix. It shouldn't matter whether I support the game or not.
@Araknie that's complete crap. Why are Japanese developers in the cold? THIS! THIS IS EXACTLY WHY Square-Enix has fallen to complete irrelevancy and lost the power of two of the biggest franchises in gaming. This is not the "solution" IT IS THE PROBLEM IN THE FIRST PLACE. Look how successful Pokemon X and Y are because Nintendo didn't try to rip people off. Dragon Quest 9 sold 4 million copies in Japan before S-E decided to throw the franchise into the wind. It was their choice, and it's also their choice to make Bravely Default look as unappealing as possible. They aren't victims of anything and I don't feel sorry for any companies being "left in the cold" by their own poor choices. It's very easy to not destroy a game.
Did I read the article, hurp durp. Offending someone doesn't make your point legit. Of course I read it and I'm passionate about this issue and the complete destruction of Square-Enix saddens me greatly. The developer even states the game balance has been changed to accommodate this, it's not an accident.
It's true that nobody is forcing you to buy it, but it's still there. Imagine a new shop opened and had flies buzzing around the side-alley next to it, with some guy selling second hand steak. I'd probably keep walking.
They just can't help themselves can they? "We don't want it to be too cheap" sums up their mindset, they expect people to fawn over this crap. Unbelievable. I remember when a few extra dollars to enhance your gaming experience meant buying a snack.
If you get worked up over this then you should probably get a hobby, or some fresh air. This is so petty it makes me think someone at a rival company is complaining just for the sake of it
It's just a review score guys, you don't have to "hate reviews" because someone thought BoF 2 was average. 6-7-8 who even cares, it's the same game to be enjoyed.
I'm finding it really generic, I don't know if I can finish it. It's an OK game but I haven't found anything to love and the presentation is really rough, it's like the game doesn't want me to play it. Feels like a waste of time, which is a huge contrast to other SNES RPGs I loved immediately.
@Nico07 yup I know, I love Nano Assault Neo. I've spent 30 hours playing it. It's been almost a year now and their new titles should be just around the corner, I'm excited to see them!
Who cares, play something else. The mere existence of this article is embarrassing.
I suppose we'll see an article about why Mario isn't for me on the Sony site now. Right? If you truly cared about other games, you wouldn't be talking about GTAV.
The new art style looks much better to me. I like the consistency WayForward are attaining with MSF and Shantae, looks like they're hitting their stride in a big way.
