Re: Splatoon 3 amiibo Unlocks And Rewards - Full List

GX_64

There is an error in this article. The Pearl Amiibo gives two different crowns, the Pearlescent Crown L and the Pearlescent Crown S. They both have the ability Sub Resistance Up, since Cold Blooded doesn't exist in Splatoon 3.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Mario Kart Game?

GX_64

My favorite is Mario Kart DS. It is probably just because I played it a lot when I was younger, but it has great courses! I also really like the missions. The other Mario Kart I have played a lot of is Mario Kart Wii. It has worse courses and is missing missions. I still like it a lot though. I have also played quite a lot of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I really don't like how everything is unlocked at the beginning. Other than that it is fine, I like how many courses there are, but I feel like it is exciting to unlock things so I found the game a bit boring. I do have some of the other Mario Karts, but I never really played those as much as the 3 I have mentioned.

Re: Talking Point: Should Sonic Frontiers Be Delayed? We Discuss Its Bizarre Debut And Fan Reaction

GX_64

I feel like it is too early to judge the aesthetic of the game. We are only seeing a small part of the game. There will probably be more colorful areas too.
The part with the tower looked quite good, but the combat seems very boring. My biggest concern is how it will run on the Switch. The forest part in particular made me worried (but maybe it is just reminding me of Korok Forest from BOTW).
I think that Sega have made a mistake with these gameplay videos. It isn't very interesting because we have no idea what is really going on. For example, what is Sonic collecting? What is it's purpose?
I am also worried about some of the puzzles. I feel like there is going to be far to much just running around things in a circle.

I am somewhat optimistic about the game still. I feel like it could be really fun being and able to run around in such a large space and up cliffs etc. I just really hope we get a better trailer explaining maybe some of the plot or something.

Re: Splatoon 3's Newest Sub-Weapon Is Called The 'Angle Shooter'

GX_64

Why did they rename it the Angle Shooter! The Japanese name is much better. Its also a pun, since it looks like a marker and it marks the player. Maybe they could have called it the Angle Marker, if they really want to point out the fact that it reflects off walls at an angle

Re: Kickstarter DIY Kit Transforms GBA Into Console-Like HDMI System

It looked so good until he mentioned the aspect ratio and blurry image. Until they fix these issues I can't see the point of spending so much on something that has quite significant issues. I would rather use an emulator and get a perfect picture (and save $135!), even if there are some small things that are inaccurate. I really hope that the issues can be fixed, because the idea is excellent!

Re: Nintendo Files New Patent Seemingly Linked To Splatoon

If you go into images on page 5 it has a picture of a map.(link https://pdfpiw.uspto.gov/.piw?docid=11310474&PageNum=5&IDKey=247D071FAD0F&HomeUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fpatft.uspto.gov%2Fnetacgi%2Fnph-Parser%3FSect2%3DPTO1%2526Sect2%3DHITOFF%2526p%3D1%2526u%3D%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-bool.html%2526r%3D1%2526f%3DG%2526l%3D50%2526d%3DPALL%2526S1%3D11310474.PN.%2526OS%3DPN%2F11310474%2526RS%3DPN%2F11310474) The map is a lot like The Reef from Splatoon 2. (https://splatoonwiki.org/wiki/File:S2_Map_The_Reef_Turf_War.png) Either they are just patenting the map from Splatoon 2, or they just used The Reef as an example because of its bridge. The map in the patent does look very similar to the existing one, but maybe there are some changes that I missed.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: #90 - Super Paper Mario

GX_64

In Australia we had the same box as NA, I remember renting it and seeing that box. Quite a few years later I went to an electronics store to buy a used copy, but it was a European copy, so that's now the one I own.
I voted NA because I preferred that box. I find the yellow too strong. I do like the folded corner on the Japan/Europe one.

Re: Talking Point: How's Your Switch Holding Up After 5 Years?

GX_64

I got mine in late 2017. Right from the beginning I had some slight issues with the cart slot, but they haven't got worse so I have just put up with it. The kickstand is still there, but the little bit of rubber is gone. The back is worn from where my hands touch it, but no cracks.
The joycon have had multiple repairs, and the plastic is shiny in spots. They still click in ok though.
The Switch always felt like a very delicate device so I never took it out the house much. When I did it stayed in a sturdy Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion themed one.
Overall, I am ok with how it has held up. It is much more fragile than the 3DS. I have had my current one since 2014/2015 (can't remember) and it is almost perfect. I used a plastic case on it, so that probably helped a lot. I did purchase a case for the Switch too, but it was irritating to take off for the dock. It also seemed to get too warm with it. The 3DS never generated much heat, but I guess it was much less powerful too.

Re: MotoGP 22 Confirmed For Switch Release This April

GX_64

It seems strange to me that there are so many riders and only 20 circuits. I have never played any of these games before and I know very little about MotoGP, but is 190 different riders in total seems like so much. Shouldn't they include more circuits instead?

Re: GBA Sky Garden Showcased For Mario Kart Tour, Spot The Differences From MK8 Deluxe

GX_64

I can see some similarities but the road is completely different between the two versions. The lighting is also much better in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Tour also lacks the mushrooms. The only similar thing is that there are clouds and giant vines, which are hard not include since they were in the original course. The clouds and vines do not look like they are the same model, they have far fewer polygons in Tour.

I believe that it is possible the new courses in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe take inspiration from Tour, and are aesthetically a bit closer to it, but they are not just copying the courses. They are putting in effort to make them more detailed.
