@mikegamer But how likely would a developer do that nowadays? Games that are ported have worse performance than if they were build for that machine originally. There are lots of games that perform great on their original machines....and then we see how a PS4 can run games much better than superior computer parts....
32 GBs is soon becoming very small. I think by at least 7 or more years we will have a game break 100 GBs. What then? You can only compress data so much. One example isn't enough.
@Lucina Yeah...like those that complained about XCX removing the boob slider and FE Fates removing the interactive "waifu" minigame.
Why are people deciding if they like a game or not on such minor things in a game?
I wonder how many people would boycott the next mario game if they found out a height slider was in the Japanese version but then removed for international copies.
Recommendation for everyone...skip the HDD or crappy EHD and get an SSD and an enclosure for it. Yes the Wii U will have to power it, but it has no moving parts. Meaning an SSD will last a LOT LONGER than an HDD.
Yes another drawback is gb/price, but....I don't think you would need more than 256GBs for the Wii U...
Quality SSDs are only like $55-65 on newegg And enclosures are only like $5.
@daveh30 and that's why you buy a powerful PC. Then you can play a majority of 3rd party games and really great indie games, not to mention Humble Bundle is great for getting a lot of games quickly. And humblestore.com, Steam, GOGGalaxy, and more have giant sales everyday.
I don't need a Playstation or Xbox One, only thing there to convince me otherwise is their games. My $465 GPU is much more powerful than what they offer.
And VR is a joke right now, I feel sorry for those that buy the Playstation VR.
TL:DR Game porting can be a nightmare. Japanese people like their portable games, so 3DS is the most lucrative for Capcom. Too expensive to make a large profit rather than just made another sequel.
Because Monster Hunter is popular in Japan. What gaming device do the Japanese love? Portable systems. What is the 3DS? A portable system. They COULD port it over to other Consoles/PC...but that's a significantly less popular market for Monster Hunter.
Making HD graphics and optimizing for different consoles and PC (system configurations, controls, etc) takes a lot of effort. Even well know companies like Rocksteady Studios for their Batman Arkham games, messed up on porting to the PC.
I can't imagine how frustrating it would be to get a 3DS port to PC and make it not be a glorified port with up-scaled textures and controls and that's it. I'm almost 99% sure they would have to remake the game for PC/console (then port) to remake the game, requiring a LOT OF RESOURCES!
Remember Mighty No. 9? The biggest Kickstarter funded game flop? Supporting all those systems made it fail more in comparison to everything else.
"But what about Tri on the Wii and Wii U?" Those games we're made for consoles and then ported to the 3DS. "The game was originally planned to be a PlayStation 3 title, but due to high development costs for that console Capcom instead decided to develop it for the Wii." From Wikipedia's page.
Capcom would rather make another game in the series, almost guaranteed several millions of dollars, than risk losing money by porting.
@HappyMaskedGuy "Sees Xenoblade, XCX, and Monster Hunter 4" make that 20 years. Since XCX, while having a giant length as is, has multiple route sidequests. So to fully complete XCX, you gotta do all of that.
@Qun_Mang That was a .z64 file like you said. You made it sound like it wan an excutable file by itself, which is wrong. Nintendo can't take this file down.
I made that remark because you didn't investigate furthur and made a presumption. It's also childish to get so offended by a random person on the internet. Learn some standards. Don't like me? Ignore me.
@Qun_Mang False. The Youtube video links to the moded file. The description says "(THIS IS A HACKED ROM. IF YOU WANT TO OPEN THIS FILE, READ UP HERE http://www.smwcentral.net/?p=viewthre...)"
@rjejr I do know what Project Giant Robot is. That tech demo that was shown right besides Star Fox Guard prototype. Someone should scrap through the code in Star Fox Zero, they might find it ;P
@rjejr I think Miyamoto probably pulled this off. If he gets the chance to be innovative, whether the fans like it or not, he's going to do it. And no one at Nintendo can stop him!
Now hopefully this will do well so we can start getting the Ys series games on the 3DS, upcoming NX!
I love Ys Origins on PC so far, it's a blast! The music is amazing too, not to mention the recomposed versions of the songs...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUNsbj22ZCI&index=4&list=PLCBB2D3CDBF2E0AAE
@SLIGEACH_EIRE If they told Miyamoto to just work on Pikmin 4, a game he can't really mess up, then we would have those 20 games ;P. I'm sure there are other people at Nintendo open to making another F-Zero! And another Mario Kart entry would be an excellent game for the console! I'm still amazed how fun 8 is and how great the music and graphics are. Hopefully they can get a better multiplayer this time!
And also it was weird how the Wii U didn't have that many experimental new small IPs. The 3DS had games like Pushmo, Dillon's Westurn Rolling, and Box Boy. Those games can't take that long to make, can they? I would be happy with at least 5 of those kinds of games and then 5-10 main series Nintendo games!
Then if some of those Nintendo games are remakes, like the supposed Super Smash Bros NX version, they could easily make 5-10 games on that alone! Many people like me would love a Sunshine HD (with a better 120 star reward to stop people from complaining) along with any other First Party Nintendo game. Heck, a SSB Melee HD would make the NX fly like hot cakes! And it doesn't seem that games like Hyrule Warriors are opposed to ports either! MAKE IT HAPPEN NINTENDO!
On a sidenote, Game Freak let Genius Sonority make a Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness sequel! I prefer that than another Shuffle or another small portable game (assuming most of the staff hasn't left yet like Rare has)!
@whodatninja Just go to a convention or a popular place that sells merchandise! I just when to a US state fair and got 40 old cards. I never knew Squirtle had such a fun sounding German name
I have enough games to last me 2 years straight since I am going to college. Backlog is an understatement. But that is the case with anyone that has Steam ;P.
Not to mention I still have WWHD, DKTF, Pikmin 3, TWEWY, etc.
@OorWullie Thanks for the case advice. I will try to get an unlocked phone...but my mother is with Sprint and an unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note 4 doesn't seem to work with Sprint. Darn American Oligopolies...
@OorWullie And that is why I am getting an unlocked phone....
It makes me sad to see people do these $200+ purchases with no research what-so-ever beforehand. I read through most of a tomshardware page before considering the Samsung Note 4.
@mikegamer So you want another N64 and Gamecube in terms of limited Storage capabilities? I recently got the Shadow of Mordor and that game requires 40 GBs of storage. Wolfenstein: The New Order is over 40 GBs. GTAV, a game I am pretty sure Nintendo would like to have on their systems requires " 65 GB available space ".
This data is from Steam. Yes you "could" cut down on the features implemented to save space.....but devs could have done that with the N64 and Gamecube, right? ;P
I hope this new modern Sonic game can make boosting less of a press-to-win button. Side-stepping was a nice to separate it out, but boosting often lead me to more "quick-time" responses than actually mastering the levels most of the time. Same goes for the sharp turn maneuvers. I loved Generations...but adding some more physics to the boosting, similar to the spin-dash, would be a step in the right direction. Maybe let Sonic use use that tether in the Boom series to fling off enemies really fast? I loved swinging around in the Attack on Titan Tribute Game and I think that fast gameplay would add a similar element of high speed controllable but extreme gameplay!
I loved Adventure 1 and 2 because of how in control I felt. I felt like I was controlling Sonic, not the other way around. Generations did have a lot of multiple paths too which I enjoyed. If Sonic Team can par the 2 together, I would love it!
@ThanosReXXX Acting disrespectful to another person by calling them "kid" is useless to an argument. It makes you look conceited and saying you have 3 years in an IT Department means nothing, as IT Departments aren't exclusively dealing with hardware. When I was in High School my IT Department didn't mess with anything hardware, they were software experts.
I was using data from anandtech.com to cite why Xbox can't afford to make a native 4k system. And yes Consoles can be modified to work well with their limitations if that system is aware of their limitations. As seen with how Monolift Soft was able to make Xenoblade X run well on the Wii U despite hardware limitations. This does not however mean that you can expect unreasonable hardware increases because you say Xbox is using a heavily modified 8 core system. Companies bluff about their hardware specifications all the time, as I think you would be aware of.
Let's end this discussion saying we disagree. And in the future, please don't use your experience to discredit another person's opinion.
"His electricity bill must be enormous." I doubt that. My computer uses roughly 500W and my mom pays about $130 a month. I don't know how prices are compared to the USA...
@GravyThief Also ever heard of Steam Sales? They...can be very helpful and disastrous to sales. Why buy the next Fire Emblem when you could wait 2 years and get it for 50% like other triple AAA games do?
Even if Nintendo gets a lot of sales...people on Steam have GIANT backlogs. My friend has little to no cash on Steam...yet has over 90 games over the course of 4 years. I got him Trine 2, a good game that NintendoLife recommended...and he didn't play it until over a year later when I asked to play it with him.
Do you want people ignoring their new Mario game that was $60 when their friends want to play another game with him? I still haven't played Bioshock Infinite even though I got it 3 years ago for $5.
It's sad when Steam Games have a dead community. I love YS Origins, it has a 95% positive Steam rating, yet only has less than 20 people playing it at a time T-T
@hepgius Piracy. Debunks your entire idea. PC devs already have significant piracy problems. And a controller that opens these games up? Sure would be easy to reproduce that hardware for another controller... People already tricked the Wii U to think a GameCube Controller was a Classic Controller...
@Not_Soos Or forcing Pokemon Go debts to announce the game's release date before planned. Or the fact that the Splatoon revs had to tell him politely"no". His last good game was Pikmin 3...
I hope Zelda BotW doesn't have a "remastered" story like StarFox Zero.
@ThanosReXXX Why? Because Nvidia graphics cards are usually better in non- DX12 games. You wand AMD stats? Ok. GTAV. 4K best settings. 26 FPS.?Also if 8 cores were that great, why does the Intel G5238 2 cores often beat out real 8 core CPUs? They help some....but not that much more.... Also those AMD "8 core CPUs" are really 4 cores with an artificial 8 cores. It helped some...for software applications. Gaming? Intel i5 CPUs beat them out 90% of the time.
Consoles should keep what they are already doing... good exclusives with decent hardware. Nintendo knows this...but PS and Xbox think consumers are PC enthusiasts, which they aren't.
@ThanosReXXX Yeah sure. And the Nvidia 970 is 4 GBs. And I take it the console will run Ashes of Singularity at 4K 60 FPS? Or what about GTA5? The visuals will have to be turned down because...the Nvidia 1080, currently the best Gaming GPU, runs the game on very high quality at 38 FPS average...
I consider true native 4K gaming at 60 FPS. Don't kid yourself, the Scorpio will be around the 970/270X range. Perfect for 30 FPS on most Games.
@NintendoFan4Lyf "I think Microsoft has been most clear at this point that the Scorpio is just for the 4K crowd." So the Scorpio is going to cost as much as the Nvidia 1080 for $670? . NOPE, really this system is going to be more of "there is a 4k feature, but only Indie games and a few triple A games running at modest fps." Heck the Xbox One base wasn't even 1080p, but 900p. I think this is more to run videos at 4k than games. The new Nvidia 1070 and 1080 can run that well......but they are crazily (in the eyes of the common consumer) priced compared to current consoles. Will VR make a difference? Yeah it will....when you don't have to pay about $400 for a PSVR, the same price as the PS4! At that point get a Xbox One, PS4, or a modest gaming PC. These consoles are going to flop unless there are more idiots than usual in the market than usual.
@peeks You can get an Nvidia 950 for the low low price of $120 right now..which is about the same speed wise as the PS4......at least it can run The Witcher 3 past 30 fps on max settings unlike the PS4. Graphics are getting cheaper and cheaper, for the Wii U's cost of $350, and assuming that the Blue Ray Disc holder is gone and we are back to cartridges, the NX can easily get a better graphics card with $350. Heck, the Nvidia 970, which is 2 times better than the PS4, is about $280 (Don't talk about the AMD 480....yeah horrible graphics card because of 90W PCI-slot overwattage -_-).
The main question is more of will their system's software support 3rd party engines like EA's Cryware 3 (I think). If the NX can't run 3rd party engines, no amount of hardware improvements will mean anything. Companies don't like making new Engines for one Console.
"I think they probably diverted all of their development efforts to support the NX. Zelda is going to be essentially a launch title, it will be the biggest game out." Everyone forgets how massive Xenoblade X was, and even with some estimates, its clear that Zelda BotW won't beat it.
For those interested in discussing the Merits of VR, not going to link but on Tomshardware's Witcher 3 giveaway they challenged users to discuss the merits of VR. There are a lot of good views over there.
@Spoony_Tech Do you not understand that there is not that many games for the expensive peripheral right now? Do you want Nintendo to make a poor marketing decision? Those on PC can usually afford a $500/$800 peripheral, but the majority of PS4 owners? Not going to happen. You need a good IP that makes a good game to force you into buying one...that then splits video gamers by another barrier which is anti-consumer. Do you want people suffering because they don't have an expensive item that hasn't had it's value tested yet?
@ziffy Ever heard of portraying yourself on to characters? Why do you think the horrible anime the Asterick Wars was so popular?
Not to mention this game appeals mostly to fans of Anime, and who are the biggest group of anime watchers? Teens. Why would they make the characters Adults and distance themselves from their target audience?
@Tsurii I feel like I made PMD Red waay too easy for myself when I was a kid...I took my Charizard and went to an area with a Mystery Box (not going to spoil) and just grinded there. Once I reached lv 100, nothing could withstand my Heat Wave.
You haven't lived until you see 9999 damage done to Shedinja!
@Uberchu Then enjoy getting a Japanese Wii and getting the shoddy PMD Wiiware games....other than that I agreed. I love PMD Red and Sky.
Still confused why most of the reviewers that reviewed the games hated the genre and gave the games far too low ratings. I am looking at you too Nintendolife!
Just a quick look at Metacritic on PMD Sky shows this, with the user ratings very positive..compared to reviewers giving the game around a 6.5 rating...
@AVahne "This game is looking faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar better than Xenoblade X in the visual, audio, and gameplay departments"
I'm guessing you haven't played the original, Xenoblade Chronicles right? That game nails the visuals (ignoring res) and audio. As for gameplay, if the over-complicated-ness of the game was what you didn't like, this game is a lot better about teaching gameplay elements.
@Porpoise ....maybe because Japan has a strong history of sexualization? Anime is really just a bi-product of it.
And don't say other Cartoons and TV series don't have sexualization. There are plenty of Betty Boops and Sexualized films. ...not to mention Disney has a habit of making a lot of sexual innuendos.
@MJKOP And yet in NOA...we never get deals on Bayonetta...Yes the game was released as a standalone game...but I kind of want the bundle too. Just not at full price.
Doesn't help I'm one of those PC guys, so I have been spoiled by sales to the point I have too many good games.
@Ralizah So...the second coming of the Elizabethan Era (or at least one of the British Eras...I forget)? Will all the fairy tales become kid friendly too like last time?
@Fiyaball Also...because of the reports that games with demos tend to sell less than if they did have a demo. I don't like it, I would love to have a demo....but....economically it makes sense. I can't count how many times I bought a game I didn't like and then regretted purchasing.
@Syrek24 My point...is that there was no indication that Earthbound was ever going to come to the N3DS. If I had the choice, of course I would have picked the N3DS over Wii U...but now I am left angry at Nintendo for misleading me...
@Socar Because those of us who got a game for the Wii U, like Earthbound, don't want to buy it a second time when it comes out to the N3DS. Those that don't emply Cross Buy are being rude to their consumers by requiring us to pick which version they want.
If I knew Earthbound would have been on the N3DS, I would have NEVER bought it on the Wii U. And now I, as well as others, are pissed off at Nintendo for their underhanded marketing trick.

It's sad when Steam Games have a dead community. I love YS Origins, it has a 95% positive Steam rating, yet only has less than 20 people playing it at a time T-T
Re: Editorial: Nintendo NX in Multiple Form Factors Could Shake Up the Video Game Industry
@hepgius Piracy. Debunks your entire idea. PC devs already have significant piracy problems. And a controller that opens these games up? Sure would be easy to reproduce that hardware for another controller... People already tricked the Wii U to think a GameCube Controller was a Classic Controller...
Re: Shigeru Miyamoto and Bill Trinen Explain Some of the Key Principles That Define Nintendo Games
Re: Outspoken Analyst Has A Good Feeling About The Nintendo NX
Re: Outspoken Analyst Has A Good Feeling About The Nintendo NX
@ThanosReXXX Yeah sure. And the Nvidia 970 is 4 GBs. And I take it the console will run Ashes of Singularity at 4K 60 FPS? Or what about GTA5? The visuals will have to be turned down because...the Nvidia 1080, currently the best Gaming GPU, runs the game on very high quality at 38 FPS average...
I consider true native 4K gaming at 60 FPS. Don't kid yourself, the Scorpio will be around the 970/270X range. Perfect for 30 FPS on most Games.
Re: Outspoken Analyst Has A Good Feeling About The Nintendo NX
Re: Outspoken Analyst Has A Good Feeling About The Nintendo NX
Re: Outspoken Analyst Has A Good Feeling About The Nintendo NX
"I think they probably diverted all of their development efforts to support the NX. Zelda is going to be essentially a launch title, it will be the biggest game out." Everyone forgets how massive Xenoblade X was, and even with some estimates, its clear that Zelda BotW won't beat it.
Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Sets Criteria to Turn Nintendo's Virtual Reality Research Into a Product
For those interested in discussing the Merits of VR, not going to link but on Tomshardware's Witcher 3 giveaway they challenged users to discuss the merits of VR. There are a lot of good views over there.
Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Sets Criteria to Turn Nintendo's Virtual Reality Research Into a Product
Re: Hands On: Painting the Walls Red with Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
@Tsurii The demo is avaliable since some backers distributed this demo on online sites.. The demo was really fun!
Re: Review: Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE (Wii U)
@ziffy Ever heard of portraying yourself on to characters? Why do you think the horrible anime the Asterick Wars was so popular?
Not to mention this game appeals mostly to fans of Anime, and who are the biggest group of anime watchers? Teens. Why would they make the characters Adults and distance themselves from their target audience?
Re: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Treble Heading to the North American eShop This Week
Re: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Treble Heading to the North American eShop This Week
@RealPoketendoNL Same. The ending of the story's first part and the side mission in the future brought tears to my eyes when I was a kid.
Re: Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Treble Heading to the North American eShop This Week
Re: Xenoblade Studio Monolith Soft Is Helping Make Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
@Monkeido You might wanna mention that the comma in "11,466 KM²" is a period for Americans. I was really confused until I went to that forum page...
Re: Xenoblade Studio Monolith Soft Is Helping Make Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
@AVahne "This game is looking faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar better than Xenoblade X in the visual, audio, and gameplay departments"
I'm guessing you haven't played the original, Xenoblade Chronicles right? That game nails the visuals (ignoring res) and audio. As for gameplay, if the over-complicated-ness of the game was what you didn't like, this game is a lot better about teaching gameplay elements.
Re: Video: Bayonetta 2 Is Just Too Darn Sexy, Even For Hormone-Addled Teens
@Porpoise ....maybe because Japan has a strong history of sexualization? Anime is really just a bi-product of it.
And don't say other Cartoons and TV series don't have sexualization. There are plenty of Betty Boops and Sexualized films. ...not to mention Disney has a habit of making a lot of sexual innuendos.
Re: Video: Bayonetta 2 Is Just Too Darn Sexy, Even For Hormone-Addled Teens
@Smokingspoon Ever heard of a franchise called Devil May Cry?
Re: Video: Bayonetta 2 Is Just Too Darn Sexy, Even For Hormone-Addled Teens
@MJKOP And yet in NOA...we never get deals on Bayonetta...Yes the game was released as a standalone game...but I kind of want the bundle too. Just not at full price.
Doesn't help I'm one of those PC guys, so I have been spoiled by sales to the point I have too many good games.
Re: Video: Bayonetta 2 Is Just Too Darn Sexy, Even For Hormone-Addled Teens
@Ralizah So...the second coming of the Elizabethan Era (or at least one of the British Eras...I forget)? Will all the fairy tales become kid friendly too like last time?
Re: Gallery: Fans Get Hands-On During The Legend Of Zelda Extravaganza At The Nintendo NY Store
@Fiyaball Also...because of the reports that games with demos tend to sell less than if they did have a demo. I don't like it, I would love to have a demo....but....economically it makes sense. I can't count how many times I bought a game I didn't like and then regretted purchasing.
Re: Talking Point: Five Years of eShop Progress Doesn't Mask Nintendo's Next-Gen Challenge
@Syrek24 My point...is that there was no indication that Earthbound was ever going to come to the N3DS. If I had the choice, of course I would have picked the N3DS over Wii U...but now I am left angry at Nintendo for misleading me...
Re: Talking Point: Five Years of eShop Progress Doesn't Mask Nintendo's Next-Gen Challenge
