I've got the epilogue to complete in ACIII, after completing the main campaign, F-Zero a possibility, Zombie U to start and Lego City to preorder ahead of this weeks Uk release
HMV is in administration still I believe, this will be a stock clearing exercise on their part to try and recoup some money. What will be interesting to see if they manage to shift their unwanted stock. If they struggle to unload premium Wii U's at a very good price then I think Nintendo going to have to come up with something very big to start shifting units. I'm not reaching for the panic alarm yet or running for the hills, but it's all looking a bit Gamecuby to me. Hopefully it can do a 3DS a do one hell of 180 degree turn sales and games wise.
It seems to me that Nintendo are in a bit of a fix here. 1 they don't want to cut the price of the Wii U anymore and sell the system at a loss. 2 retailers are clearly not happy with how it's selling and in some cases selling systems at a loss. 3 I think we can all agree on the lack of games in the launch window. If retailers loose complete confidence in the Wii U, and it goes down the GameCube route with a severe lack of shelve space, then I agree with an idea on the CVG forum. What about the eshop coming to Ninty's rescue?? Imagine all Nintendo's first party software selling for £30 maximum and thus cutting out the high street . The major questions here would be would the Wii U loose all major third party support or would they support this move and release any games they have for the same price? Also if this did happen we would all need to buy hard drives and I would say 2TB minimum for this situation. What do you guys think on this?
As others have said, we may get dlc if it sells well. It deserves to sell well, if it reviews as good as it previews then It's on my bucket list of games to get. ONM UK reviewed Most Wanted in their April issue and gave it 90%
@Haywired, When you put things like that maybe I viewed the old Cube a bit harshly, to that list you could add Star Wars Rogue Sqaudron, Viewtifull Joe & Ikaruga if the Wii U could get games and support at that quality then it won't be that bad.
@DePapier, It's all part of the service, I find it works on a number of levels.
To me the days of great third party support are long gone (SNES), for the past three generations, third party devs have been looking for excuses* not to bring their games to a Nintendo home console. Nintendo need to concentrate on their own second and first party software and keep encouraging the indie devs.
*N64 - Cartridge based system
GameCube - Not powerful enough / Not cool enough / Nintendo gamers won't buy
Wii - Motion controls, underpowered, casual market, third party games will not sell
My predictions: Pachter to keep predicting console sales and Nintendo is doomed!!! All three consoles not to sell as well as previous generation due to economy and lack of money!! Not as many people to own two consoles due to the above comment!! Wii U sales to improve on release of new 3D Mario / Zelda game!! F-Zero to return!! People getting angry at more predictions from anyalists!! Blimey with all these predictions is there any a chance off me getting a job as a business anyalist??
So they have re branded in-app purchases as micro transactions?. Not on my Wii U there not. I'm not a fan of this particular game model on my phone let alone on a console game.
@LordessMeep, You pretty much summed things up. If its not selling by christmas then I think, there will be a problem. But looking on the bright side there are big games due for release, hopefully this will entice people to buy a Wii U. The 3DS turned the corner I think the Wii U will do the same when it has a lot more games in its library. But Nintendo need to get the games out, especially with PS4 and the new Xbox fast approaching
I'm not to sure on this one at all, I'm currently playing Assassin Creed III and I have to say it's taking it's time to grow on me. I would like to see Ubisoft bring the earlier entries to the Wii U as I found them more enjoyable. But I'll keep an eye on this and reserve judgement if and when it appears.
I enjoyed the demo of this on my PS3 (before i sold it), if its a solid port and all the WII U specifics have been add like it says in the press release I will consider getting this game if a) the price is right and b) we get all the dlc content to date on disc as essentially you could argue it will be game of the year addition.
Why oh why oh why, Nintendo need to push the Wii U more in the UK, not sell a new version of the outgoing Wii that retains non of all the features of the original. The only reason, I can see of Nintendo doing this, is that they will remove from circulation the current Wii model and offer this against the WII U with all the features. But they are running a huge risk in my eyes of cannibalisng Wii U sales with this .
Nice to see our north american friends getting Bit Trip this week, but what about Europe? Are we to assume it will be in next weeks new release schedule for the European eshop? or will be later due to localisation issues?
Wheather the Wii U has a fight on its hands depends on a number of factors: The cost of PS4, this beast is not going to be cheap I predict £350 - 400 min possibly £500. If Sony go down the same route as Nintendo did on the hardrive it might be able to sell it a bit cheaper, but Sony is got to try and sell at a profit quickly due to their finances. The lack of backwards compatibility and being unable to transfer PSN purchases will upset some Sony gamers but will they be upset enough to buy a Wii U? Games what games will it get and how much will they cost, don't forget people are moaning about the price of Wii U games, with higher production costs PS4 games will not be cheap. Sony again have gone all in on the power front just like PS3 & Vita, the high cost got PS3 to a slow start and the Vita is selling slow, it all comes down to cost and how much money people have. The Wii U has offscreen gameplay with the gamepad, for PS4 you will need to buy a Vita which makes PS4 even more expensive. If I was Nintendo now is the time to create new IPs, and get games, games and more games coming to Wii U, create even more experiences that people would want to buy a Wii U. At the end of the day whether the Wii U survives PS4 comes down to games and cost of hardware
I'm adding this game to my ever growing games list now it's been officially announced at the PS4 reveal!!. If done right and gamepad controls implemented well, the Wii U version could be the best available.
The gameplay mechanic does lend itself to the gamepad, I couldn't see how it would work better on any other platform. If it got good reviews then I would add it to my list of games to buy. But until either Ubisoft or Nintendo officially announce this for Wii U, I'm still treating this as rumor and speculation
As olive branches go, a free online challenge mode is a good start. Ubisoft have realised their mistake and are trying to make things up with the Nintendo audience
This game was on my wish list, but having read the reviews for the other versions, this game if it ever makes the light of day I will treat with extreme caution. If it's as poor as other versions I can't see why SEGA would even bother releasing it, I'm not going to miss it doubt others will either.
Do my eyes deceive me??, a current games developer actually talking about games being fun to play and just not about machine specs. Quick Nintendo, ask them to develop a Wii U version of F-Zero pronto!!
As I have said previously if this game is good, I'm more than ready to hand over the cash.
I'm just going to lay down for a bit as, I am still shocked by a current games developer talking about gameplay over graphics, finally someone gets it.
I'm going on the side of caution with this one. Coming to all home consoles could be anything at this stage. Gameplay looks good, gamepad use could be very good if it is coming to Wii U. I guess it's upto Nintendo to convince Ubisoft to bring this game to Wii U, and Judging by Ubisofts current stance, this means selling more Wii U's
Maybe we heading for some sort of video gaming correction i.e. not one console is going to sell in huge numbers, the majority of casuals I bet have moved onto tablets and mobile phones. Also it's not the economy for people buying video games in huge numbers. Personaly I'm looking to buy one full priced game every other month and eshop games possibly monthly as they tend to be cheaper as I just ain't got the cash for one full price game every month. We will really see what type of market we're operating in when the new PS360 launches, as if these are going to more expensive than the Wii U, again I can't see eithier of them selling huge numbers to begin with. Games developers are going to have to be more creative and not rely on yearly franchises like FIFA, Madden & COD for example. The games are coming but it's going to take time, Nintendo should have had some more first party games ready at launch and not rely on third parties ala 3DS as the two launches look remarkably similar.
If I remember right Nintendo let the retailers here in the UK set their own price for the Wii U. So in theory a price cut is down to the retailers. Zavvi held a fire sale at the beginning of January didn't they? Also Nintendo need to advertise it more on the tv, like they are with the 3DS. Every time I turn the tv on, there is a 3DS advert on. Maybe Nintendo need to be more aggressive in the UK, as they freely admit its a region they struggle in.
If Criterion are going all in, so am I. As others have said as a community we need to support this game by buying it. All we need now is more devs to take this approach and learn the system inside and out and be content with lazy ports
"Nintendo don't speak about that, it's not their core focus at all but they did their 'Iwata Asks' about the hardware and it talks consistently about how they got to keep it quiet with low power consumption, and they totally did that... but what they haven't really championed is how they delivered something that could do this as well [he points to the 50-inch Panasonic playing host to Most Wanted U]... It's possible. It's work. You have to think about it and put time and craft and effort and whatever else into it but you have to do that for everything that's worth doing in this business... I think people should either go all-in or not bother." (eurogamer) The above quote is from the digital foundry interview with Criterion. To me it shows the Wii U is a console worth developing for if you make the time and effort. Looking like my next game alongside Lego City
One minute Yves Guillemot, is saying the WII U needs to change, in the next breath they're delaying Rayman Legends and now he's saying he is satisfied with the market share they have on WII U. He seems to contradicting himself at every opportunity. Are these latest comments his attempt at winning the back the support of Wii U owners? The only good Ubisoft can do now is release Rayman Legends on time and show their support for the Wii U by bringing their biggest IP's to this platform.
What Nintendo needs to do is stump up the cash and buy Ubisoft Montpelier, they led by an industry legend!! As everyone keeps saying surly it has to be released now after such a high profile display from the developers? 8698 people on change.org can't be wrong!!
That makes me one of the 2% then!! I picked up a premium pack with Nintendo land and brought Assassins Creed III & Zombie U in January. Can't say I've not done my bit so far. I'd have to say though even Nintendo had a national Wii U promotional tour before launch, the message just is not getting out. As others have said lack of advertising retailers lumping Wii U stuff with Wii etc. Nintendo Uk need to start pushing big time!! Like others I haven't a ton of cash and will pace my self Games to buy on my list are: Lego City Aliens Colonial Marines Wonderful 101 Rayman Legends!! Mario 3d NFS Most Wanted BLOPS 2 Mass Effect 3 Mutant Mudds Zen Pinball 2 Nyko Gamepad battery!!! Bayonetta 2
The quicker Nintendo alter their online accounts system the better in my view. In this day and age your Nintendo network ID should be universal across all Nintendo platforms, with all purchases tied to your network ID like on PSN. In Jons case I don't think he had read the Nintendo fineprint as you get a warning the first time you set up your network ID. Anyways stop with the negative stories and find a positive own to report!!
Jeees how much negativity and bashing can one system take? Like others I think the basic concept is a good one and a truly innovative games developer should be more than capable of developing a decent game. The perception of third party games don't sell can be that in the past an awful lot of games have been pure crap and some shoddy ports (which may be down to system constraints). Nintendo's own games seem always to get the most out of the hardware and are fun to play. If the games developers can't be bothered to take their time and turn out a decent quality game then it won't sell regardless. It's time to make quality games and for developers to learn how to program for each platform and not try and turn around a port in six months.
Why would anyone buy the Wii U version of Skylanders Giants, when by all accounts there is no difference from the Wii version. Granted there were some kid friendly games at launch, but a lot more games that have launched have been aimed at the 18+ demographic. I wonder if Bobby is happy with Wii U BLOPs sales?
Is Ubisoft committed to the Wii U platform is what I'm thinking here, instead of releasing the game now and getting decent sales, they prefer to release in September in the run upto christmas with all the big hitters. Cue Ubisoft coming out saying poor sales on Wii U going to revise their stragety. Will the next Assassins Creed Installments be on this console or even Red Steel 3? After all the CEO of Ubisoft wanted new console hardware to drive innovation and new IP's. To this end this what Ninetndo have done created a console, while not as powerful as publishers like Ubisoft and EA might of wanted but it has a new way of engaging us in the way we can play our games just like the Wii did. And there is my point, it seems to me third party publishers just want more powerful hardware so they can create the same games with improved graphics, what they don't want is any innovation in the control inputs like the Wii remote and Wii U gamepad.
But it would be a meaningless death for the game, the time to release is in three weeks as planned, with people craving a good quality title, while the release schedule is sparse.
@HouseofBees, keep the faith, your money has not been wasted as of yet, granted Rayman is a set back, but we still have Lego City Undercover, Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3 for this year as far as I'm aware for exclusives. Multiplat wise there is Aliens Colonial Marines, Need for Speed Most Wanted & Injustice Gods Among us. Also don't forget all ready out are: Mass Effect 3, BLOPS 2, Assassins Creed 3 & Darksiders 2. For future games we've got a new 3d Mario, Yoshis Yarn, Wind Waker HD & Bayonetta 2. Don't forget the eshop and Virtual Console as well. The past few weeks have been dark times and I have never in all my 27 years of gaming seen such negative news stories about one console. Nintendo will turn things round, they did it with the 3DS and i'm sure they will with the WII U. As far as major third party support is concerned, this has been on the wain for a while since the N64. What Nintendo have to do is fund more games (like Bayonetta), set up some more studios if need be. It's only the Wii U's first year and selling three million consoles in a struggling world economy is not that bad I'd say. Lets all give Nintendo and more importantly the Wii U more time and see where things are this time next year.
@SetupDisk, I think the majority of people will agree with you on this. To most Wii U owners this game is / was a big deal, from my point of view and having played the demo it seems this game has more originality and Ideas than Super Mario Bros U. Credit should go to the dev team as again in my eyes it out did Mario
The whole Mass Effect complaint-fest/ witch hunt went on for a while, it was unjustified but credit to Bioware they listened. Anyway I digress from the topic, If the Microsoft rumours are true as in Ubisoft has a deal to bring all their games to Xbox, where does this leave ZombieU?
Ubisoft have more or less came out and said they don't do exclusives, so how come ZombieU launched on time and wasn't multiplat?
The change org petition has now over 5000 signatures!! If you not signed yet do so! Anyway keep the stakes and pitch forks burning!!, we could if we're lucky might get this game out!!
As an olive branch I don't think this "exclusive" demo is not going to cut it amongst the mases. Will it be limited to 30 plays like the the previous?? Ubisoft have taught us all there is no such thing as an exclusive. The game going multiplat is not the problem, but having a finished game delayed for 7 months is the problem especially when it has been touted and pimped to the Nintendo audience since the Wii U was announced, as some on on this site said yesterday releasing the full game on the eshop would be a compromise, hopefully at a decent price as well as a gesture of good faith.
I feel sorry for the developers as an anonymous poster has stated they completed the game and is ready to ship. The game would have been more of a success being released now than at the end of the year, when all the big hitters will be out. I'll doubt us Wii U owners will calm down soon over this matter if Nintendo life & Miiverse reactions are anything to go by

If they struggle to unload premium Wii U's at a very good price then I think Nintendo going to have to come up with something very big to start shifting units.

Re: Talking Point: This Fan's Tragic Tale Highlights The Problem With Nintendo's Approach To Download Purchases
Re: Developer States That Wii U Woes Were a Focus At DICE
Re: Activision's Bobby Kotick Is Disappointed With The Launch Of The Wii U
Why would anyone buy the Wii U version of Skylanders Giants, when by all accounts there is no difference from the Wii version. Granted there were some kid friendly games at launch, but a lot more games that have launched have been aimed at the 18+ demographic. I wonder if Bobby is happy with Wii U BLOPs sales?
Re: Reaction: The Rayman Legends Delay Is a Low Blow, But The Apocalypse Isn't Here
@LavaTwilight, agreed this has been one big PR disaster for Ubisoft god knows how there are going to dig themselves out this massive hole
Re: Wii U To Get An "Exclusive" Rayman Legends Demo Soon
Re: Reaction: The Rayman Legends Delay Is a Low Blow, But The Apocalypse Isn't Here
But it would be a meaningless death for the game, the time to release is in three weeks as planned, with people craving a good quality title, while the release schedule is sparse.
Re: Bayonetta 2 And The Wonderful 101 To Stay Wii U Exclusive
Good stuff, let's just now get these two games out ASAP, and show the gaming world what the Wii U can do
Re: Reaction: The Rayman Legends Delay Is a Low Blow, But The Apocalypse Isn't Here
@HouseofBees, keep the faith, your money has not been wasted as of yet, granted Rayman is a set back, but we still have Lego City Undercover, Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3 for this year as far as I'm aware for exclusives.
Re: Wii U To Get An "Exclusive" Rayman Legends Demo Soon
@SetupDisk, I think the majority of people will agree with you on this.
To most Wii U owners this game is / was a big deal, from my point of view and having played the demo it seems this game has more originality and Ideas than Super Mario Bros U. Credit should go to the dev team as again in my eyes it out did Mario
Re: Wii U To Get An "Exclusive" Rayman Legends Demo Soon
Re: Wii U To Get An "Exclusive" Rayman Legends Demo Soon
As an olive branch I don't think this "exclusive" demo is not going to cut it amongst the mases. Will it be limited to 30 plays like the the previous?? Ubisoft have taught us all there is no such thing as an exclusive. The game going multiplat is not the problem, but having a finished game delayed for 7 months is the problem especially when it has been touted and pimped to the Nintendo audience since the Wii U was announced, as some on on this site said yesterday releasing the full game on the eshop would be a compromise, hopefully at a decent price as well as a gesture of good faith.
Re: Ubisoft Confirms Rayman Legends Delay Isn't Down To Development Issues
I feel sorry for the developers as an anonymous poster has stated they completed the game and is ready to ship. The game would have been more of a success being released now than at the end of the year, when all the big hitters will be out. I'll doubt us Wii U owners will calm down soon over this matter if Nintendo life & Miiverse reactions are anything to go by
