@babbeltje Yeah it's awesome, Thing is if you notice the time you set at the beginning of the game will never change(No internal clock) and if try train/catch in the tall grass (at night) there will be times when it will change to day for a battle or two.
@Ralizah I bought it (25 bucks in canada) and i can say the price doesn't matter, there are people out their spending 80+ bucks on alcohol or drugs for a weekend while we have these games for as long as the license(or the system lasts) and plus some, so IMO if its a good game then the price is not really an imperative question.
@JaxonH not all adolescent kids are fanboys, i've read some blogs where they say that the new 3ds feels more like a plastic toy then the vita and these are people who have degrees in english. fanboyism is here to stay(the more you push it away the darker it gets), so you have to take into account for their actions.
Considering that their opinions are going to effect a large number of people. Not to mention marketing campaigns from nintendo.. in the end defending nintendo systems that they indeed are not kiddy's toy's would be fanboyism, Even though we know better.
@Vash_Visionz If considering that the big triple A titles for that market is causal where do we draw the line between casual and hardcore, as anybody else would take AC/COD more hardcore over Zelda/Pokemon due to the age difference, even though both are the same in story/multi-player. I myself look at "hardcore" gaming as a marathon as opposed to a few hours a day, but with Nintendo's age market, and a lack of an online support system similar to playstation/xbox (due to the risk of younger gamers) It plainly shows that Nintendo doesn't have that kind of market, and alienates "hardcore" gamers to other systems.
@OneBagTravel That may be true but it is kind of redundant. 20 years ago it would be an outrage and opinions would be strong, however today everybody looks at the wii and wii u as kiddy toys. I don't want to say it shouldn't be talked about because lets face it I would like to see a more hardcore system made by Nintendo, But nobody is going to take that seriously not with high competition from Microsoft and Sony.
they've been doing this since the n64 this is not nessarily new news, its also the reason why more hardcore gamers moved to the playstation and xbox systems.
They really should go back to calling it Pocket Monsters, cause the word Pokemon sounds childish, while Pocket Monters sounds more universal.. could boost sales
They should implement a hardcore element into the stadium series, where you offer up one of your trained pokemon, and if you lose you lose that pokemon, if you win you get a pokemon.(on the same trained level as the one you offered)
@Vineleaf not really the playstation system is a graphics powerhouse to do the same thing on a pc would cost a lot of money, its cheaper in the end.. however the software is limited both in gameplay and creativity. In a perfect world you could have sony making the hardware and nintendo making the software, But as history tells us perfection means nothing but disaster.
@GuyWithTheGames how so Ubisoft is kinda of an IP hog and everything they ever created is on par to over glorified movies. Name one original game by ubisoft without the exception to rayman..
So i have to drive 25 mins, go to a gamestop (ebgames) wait in line while a bunch of kids are yelling at their parents to get this game and that game, all just for a piece of paper with a number on it to download a character which i'll probably never use... meh pass(mystery gift was awesome)
@Kitchner True but computers are (for the most part) open sourced and you can alter the software to accommodate your hardware, also companies provide alterations for their software to work on multiple systems and system hardware. Nintendo's hardware is Not open sourced and you cannot program on their hardware unless you have a license to develop, and to get a license you need to have A: money, B: a development team, and C: approval from nintendo. Only companies like capcom and square can develop for it, Nintendo provides the SDK to work on the basic template which is the 3ds. If a new system is released, its up to the company(capcom/square) itself to take it upon themselves to provide an update on their software with the new template which is now the New 3ds, that's if they have the license to develop on said hardware.
In other words you need to have a patch or update in order to have the frame rate or changes on certain games fixed, and that's if the company wants to do it.
@Kitchner Its basic software development, Software doesn't adapt to new hardware, it has to be programmed, if you want a run down on that well you can check out forums on any Programming language by typing it into google, or if you want to view specific developments like game engines you can check out this http://forum.unity3d.com/
@luckybreak I agree, I do want a larger screen for mine too however the XL is just too big so the new 3ds which is bigger but not as big as the XL runs right up my alley.
@Kitchner I'm not sure if anybody answered this already, but there would need to be an update on the software to the new systems in order for the frame rate to be corrected. If not then you'll be stuck with it unfortunately.
@Sikboy1029 I agree, However the thing is there is something wrong with the gba virtual console on the handheld. I have the 10 games that where released after the price drop and sometimes when i'm playing it freezes and shuts down on some titles. I'm sure the new 3ds will be able to support the same VC's as the Wii U.
I was planning on nothing too however since i only played 2 yu gi oh games (forbidden memories, and dual academy) I decided to get the new one. so far its ok, haven't found the card shop yet or the passwords for cards.
I'm not going to read every bodies comments to see if this has been said but i don't see how anybody would think this is a bad thing, People who buy games for pc usually always mod them or create their own games on it. Heck Id software even encourages modders and hires them if their mod is good enough, The only thing that could be bad is if someone makes a hack to disrupt online gameplay, and or a way to play 3ds games for free, What i think should be done is instead of nintendo blocking homebrew, they should work along side it, and monitor the programs and mods for games and the system, if somebody breaks the rules, brick'em.
