Re: Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers Officially Confirmed For Switch

Elithal

@ARhollow It's just my personal opinion but most people that have REASONABLY voiced that some people on Nintendo's side that fell for the rumors are a bit entitled are people I agree with. I personally want Switch to get P5 and think Atlus derped a bit naming the project "P5S" after a Joker Smash update but I have to admit that is only my fault. I think Arehexus is reasonably saying "shouldn't have fell for the rumors." Especially since Atlus mixes up messaging sometimes. If he was truly an Atlus fanboy, wouldn't he want ALL Atlus games to be on all platforms to see their greatness? That seems more fanboyish to me, and probably the good kind tbh.

@AlternateButtons I have to agree with you on many points you've made but to be fair the S might have just been related to the project name before the official name came out. I think our wishful thinking pushed it. I do agree the S and possiblyJoker may have been misleading. Why not W for Warriors or K or Koei or something, lol.

@Ralizah You specifically said: "Atlus, for whatever reason, likes to make certain franchises exclusive to certain ecosystems."
Again, SMT3 (Which, surprisingly, is only 1 mainline entry before the 3DS's SMT4) plus many non-Persona ports. No further argument.
@Arehexes I definitely think we're on the same page, lol. It just seems weird having to scream "NOCTURNE + PORTS AS BAD AS FF7" every time somebody pulls the whole exclusivity route with SMT. Makes me wonder if I'm the only one that remembers or if I'm insane.

Re: Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers Officially Confirmed For Switch

Elithal

Really should stop with the "exclusive" aspect of Atlus. Here's a list of consoles supported for SMT:

Platform(s)
Android, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Game Gear, iOS, Microsoft Windows, MSX, NES, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, PC Engine, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation Vita, Sega CD, Sega Saturn, SNES, Virtual Boy, Wii, Wii U, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Xbox 360

Granted some never made it out of Japan, but still.

@Arehexes You make a great point. There's a small (willfully ignorant) part of me that wants to point to Joker being in Smash, but then we'd also have to talk about Cloud I guess lol. Still, as a few people pointed out, Atlus did make a few strange choices with naming it P5S and saving it for last. I imagine it being similar to Valve randomly posting "HL3" and then announcing Half-Life: The 3rd Remaster of Half-Life 1.

Re: Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers Officially Confirmed For Switch

Elithal

@ReaderRagfish I'm gonna have to agree. I mean, why call it P5S this whole time? Why save it until the end? Why not just tell people, "No it's not happening?"
I know how I sound...I'll grow back up in a few minutes, lol.
Either way, E3 is around the corner. I still have some hope there. Could be Atlus wants to bring some people down on purpose and appear to have no more announcements only for Nintendo to announce P5R or port to Switch and really kick up the interest with a "comeback" announcement in E3. With Switch almost outselling PS4 lifetime sales in Japan I think it would be a missed opportunity to not bring it to Switch.

Re: Feature: What Happens When you Play Breath of the Wild as a Multiplayer Game?

Elithal

I'm in the same situation with my girlfriend over this game - One TV, one Switch. It's very fun to see her get far in the story while I find 50 Korok seeds and shrines then watch her glare at me.

Our experiences with games melds well in this particular venture. My ability to almost destroy all puzzles I come across and find very small things helps the OCD collector in her, while her simpler outlook helps me not get stuck on something that's much easier than I think it is.

Re: Editorial: On the Road With the Nintendo Switch

Elithal

@Nintendoforlife At the cost of sounding fickle, I would say I would re-buy all physical copies of games I have as digital and the Switch would be my all-time favorite console, lol. If Pro Controller support existed for those same 3DS games, I'd be set for life.

Re: First Impressions: Getting Strategic in Disgaea 5 Complete

Elithal

@Alucard83
Honestly, Fire Emblem can seem pretty barebones in comparison to Disgaea.
Fire Emblem, you can choose some classes, upgrade them, get some children...I understate all you can do, HOWEVER...
In Disgaea, you can level up to LVL 9,999, reincarnate your character with better stats, change their class, teach them skills, permanently increase their stats OUTSIDE of what they get in levels, fuse monsters in battle or make a monster a weapon....there's tons to do. That doesn't even touch what you can do to level up your weapons/armor/accessories/items.

If I had to compare the strategy tactics, though, I'd say the RPG aspect plays a much bigger role in Disgaea than it does for Fire Emblem. You can level a whole field in a couple of turns with the skills and magics you learn in Disgaea. They're both checkerboard with height included, and a lot of passive skills playing a big role if that's what you're asking.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo, the NES Mini and Ongoing Stock Problems

Elithal

@PlywoodStick
Nice comment. You make a great point, not only can Nintendo create their own playing field (much like creating Nintendo Directs and removing most of their announcements from E3) but they also have bragging rights. It sounds good to stockholders that you sold 100% of stock and social network sites still show a certain percentage of invested interest from consumers.
