Re: Sword And Shield's Wild Area Is About The Size Of Two Regions In Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, Says Pokémon Rep

Elithal

@Varkster Well-placed my friend. I cannot speak for the masses however in my experience the Zelda games were closing in on open world development with the size of the areas in Twilight Princess and Skyward. It makes sense they at least prepared for their open world variant.

I would argue since some people agree with your third paragraph - that Pokemon doesn't require the space or requirements found in open world games - and that causes the worry...and unfortunately people express their worry or doubt with negativity. I think some people see that negativity for what it is, which is fear of the unknown and no good alternatives. Others need to see that, and I don't think screaming that everyone with a neutral or lower viewpoint is a "DEXIT TOXIC GENWUNNER" helps that at all. Hence me pointing out Alternate's unfounded finger-pointing.

Re: Sword And Shield's Wild Area Is About The Size Of Two Regions In Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, Says Pokémon Rep

Elithal

@AlternateButtons They didn't say anything of that sort. I'm with Lizuka, it's not a matter of Dexit or anything like that. As someone that was pretty vocal about it before, I can say I changed my mind. I'm actually really excited to catch everything from scratch.

As a consumer that tests the water before diving in, people just want to know if this "wild area" thing that's being touted around is up to par. Zelda's team did great despite having little to no experience in open world games - they knew to fill the world with a lot and made even the smallest bunch of trees interesting. Pokemon Co. having little experience with this is something that's easy to worry about, especially since most routes in previous games were bland as is.

I honestly think Pokemon Co. will do good. Berries, # of Pokemon and items usually littered on the ground should be good to implement in an open world format ideally.

Re: Tweet Analysis Reveals Controversial Pokémon Cull Has Fans Evenly Split

@Jacob1092 I have to agree. It seems more like a "perceived sentimental value of words" based on the data science. When looking at the adverbs and adjectives pulled it seems to be overwhelmingly on the side of the pro-National dex people. I could be wrong.

Plus, the hastag in itself has a pro-National dex connotation anyway.

Re: Soapbox: Why Sword And Shield's Pokémon Purge Will Benefit Everyone

Elithal

@Franz Very well-said. Anyone with a taste in consumerism can see it is a smart point to allow the transfer of Pokemon whose designs may have been the reason a particular generation of players joined in a certain generation. Look at the recent surveys for "What are you most looking forward to in SwSh?" 60% if not more of people will undoubtedly say the new Pokemon.

I personally think those that say "It is unreasonable" do have a point, I'm not against debating that issue. However, anyone that says they are unwilling to discuss these things with "entitled players" have little to no perception on the love Pokemon's fanbase has for their cherished Pokemon and are numb to market desires in an overly vocal society. Just read the comments if you need to dip into the consumer's mind, even if some responses may be a bit dramatic.

Nothing against the article and its defenders, but I am unsure how the opposing viewpoint of "All Pokemon are here" would be a fail in any way outside of possible balance (which has been proven time and time again that Gamefreak doesn't pay much attention to, look at any Tournament Pokemon % of usage). I love my Alolan Raticate and Dragalge, but I as well as a large portion of the community know that it is unrealistic to pull those Pokemon in tournament play. We want them for the adventure. A "rebalance" probably won't let my Raticate take down a Blastoise or a Mewtwo.

I would like to have a game where the devs don't have to bust their butts and lose hours of sleep bringing all Pokemon over. However, this game is pivotal for Pokemon's future. I would love to see a good argument for how people will respond when it's confirmed people will no longer see Alolan Raichu, MegaCharizard and legendaries from Gen 4. It's really the games after Sword and Shield that may be hit the hardest by people who want all the Pokemon but experience this upcoming adventure without 4 of their favorite lines of Pokemon to share it with.

As someone that does like good points, I have to admit we should definitely wait for facts. For all we know only a few lines of Pokemon won't make it and all others will, who knows?

Re: Nintendo's Market Value Drops By $1 Billion After Animal Crossing Switch Delay

Elithal

@sanderev You are absolutely right, though in deeper thought I like to think of investment as a "tangible revenue representing belief in growth and interest." If a company has a lower amount of money invested then I see it as less ability to grow and engage the consumers, also meaning a dip in that market reflects a weakened viewpoint. I know plenty of people like to think "Delays and no systems when I see others doing it? I'm out!" Which is pretty dumb in the long run but shows the nature of invesment for some.

I'm not saying my viewpoint on investment is 100% the best, but I do like to think it's at least more noble than reaction investors lol.

Re: Nintendo's Market Value Drops By $1 Billion After Animal Crossing Switch Delay

Elithal

@EvilRegal Haha, oh I definitely get it. I hear conversation with other investors with wide eyes sometimes, many are reactive instead of future-minded. I don't read up on stock news and discussion expecting candy and flowers lol.

And I definitely understand the wallet thing. I literally have a monthly budget for gaming...however I have a budget for just about everything...lol

Re: Nintendo's Market Value Drops By $1 Billion After Animal Crossing Switch Delay

Elithal

@jockmahon I somewhat agree in the same position. Some of the revivals were great for the crowd despite my lack of excitement.

@EmmatheBest I think you nailed it. Pokemon, a game with historically massive attachment rate to new system buys, has made their audience angry enough so that it isn't even a "vocal minority". That plus lagging behind Sony/MS new consoles and cloud abilities/gaming passes makes even me think about pulling my cash out.

Re: Nintendo's Market Value Drops By $1 Billion After Animal Crossing Switch Delay

Elithal

@sanderev @evilregal As someone with Nintendo stock, I can say that what you're saying might be true for some but smarter investors know the "tides of change". It's also untrue that we "only care for money."

I play my Switch probably more than is healthy. I am more interested in a platform for Bravely, Etrian, Pokemon, and Rune Factory more than the other games. Even with my tastes and loyalty I know that it's better to pull out during competitor console announcement year (especially since Nintendo announces things at different times than the competitors) and to stick to my investing guns during high-attachment game releases like Pokemon times of year. I can't speak for all investors but I know when it's time to give Nintendo a bit of space and when to come back, and it's not just because "quick money." There are legitimate concerns about technological fidelity with Nintendo, especially when you see others following a very obvious trend.

I have no doubt November to March will be better times anyway.

Re: Feature: Nintendo E3 2019 - What Are You Hoping For?

Elithal

Reading most of the responses on here, I may be alone in this but I'm hoping for:
-Rune Factory 5 details (Not too much, just a minute's worth)
-The next Switch iterations for Etrian Odyssey, Bravely series and Fantasy Life
-An answer for Monster Tale's magically invisible development (WHERE ART THOU)
-Next Monster Hunter game or maybe even FF Explorers

Re: The Game Sony Tried To Silence Is Getting An Uncensored English Language Release On Switch

Elithal

@Ralizah @Illusion Once again your mindsets impress me. I have to agree whole-heartedly. @nessisonett To be fair, I can attempt to walk in your shoes and see your viewpoint as well. A "bigger bust" meaning higher levels/more power probably isn't the healthiest concept if you are looking into this game for morality studies. However, if anyone is seriously attempting to reflect the views of this game and bring it into real life, that truly is an issue that needs to be sorted by the person and not the game. I think this is why ESRB ratings are important..anyone 17 years of age or below may not have a developed-enough brain to separate the actions or viewpoints in this game from real lessons that are hopefully being taught by their parents, role models and peers. Appreciating a unique game centered around what your brain may or may not be biologically attracted to shouldn't clash with being respectful to women or any other human being for that matter, especially based on physical attributes or the lack thereof.

Re: GameStop's Database Lists More Than 20 Unannounced Switch Titles Ahead Of E3

Elithal

@Deathwalka Haha I agree. Even the name "Switch" was chosen due to its current capabilities. I would imagine it would be a dockless version that doesn't have detachable joy-cons but could still use joy cons, controllers and dock if bought separately. It wouldn't sacrifice the capabilities, just the # of extra pieces...maybe. I'm no Nintendo expert but I'd imagine that a Switch Mini would be a much easier entry point for the people that usually buy a Nintendo console only for Pokemon and a few Mario games.

Re: GameStop's Database Lists More Than 20 Unannounced Switch Titles Ahead Of E3

Elithal

@Abeedo @Magician Yeah you guys are right. The Fallout 76 garbage bag edition comes to mind too lol. Has Nintendo games historically had editions costing that much? I imagine that maybe Doom (like Magician said), Wolfenstein or maybe even a Mario + Rabbids 2 could make a $200 edition. Heck, maybe a Pokemon Sword + Shield + Pokeball Plus Plus.
