Re: Random: This Might Just Be The Longest Title We've Ever Seen For A Nintendo Switch Game

Dakotastomp

@Dr_G_Lemaitre @Blizzia Overall, the artstyle itself isn't harmful but like most forms of art, it's subjective.

For seasoned viewers of most anime properties, they can suspend their disbelief about the design of a chibi character since they can tell by writing and context clues that a character is suppose to be an adult.

For others, they can't get over how a character is designed or how the proportions are "child-like", especially if they don't follow a lot of anime with the artstyle, so when they see examples like the one above, it sets off their fight or flight instincts to make arguments as to why it's wrong or how it's contributing to cp.

I don't blame a person for having an issue with the designs, we all have our own opinions, but let's not make this something bigger than it actually is. The name is long and generic, the box art is simplified, time to move on.

Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online SNES And NES Service With Four More Titles

Dakotastomp

@Dirty0814 and yet we still have some self entitled "fans" who can't seem to grasp that concept. Like i was one of the few people wondering when we'll get AAA license titles until it dawned on me how expensive it probably is to get a character licensed title onto a free service. And more importantly, we need to be reminded that NSO doesn't bend to our will for Super mario RPG or Shin Megani Tensin. They can do whatever the f they want and it's up to the customer themself to decide if it's worth their time or not. NSO isn't trash, they just can't always get what they want.

Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online SNES And NES Service With Four More Titles

Dakotastomp

I really don't get you people. These are some deep, deep cuts from nes and snes. I remember playing Prehistorik Man on GBA and Fire and ice on an emulator site, and they were fun time killers. Online is doing what they promised they'd be doing: giving us classic Nintendo games for free on the Switch and basically preserving their history. It costs a lot to include titles from licensed properties, so don't expect to see Turtles in time anytime soon. Be greatful they thought about giving us something better than Rygar on the NES at least.

Re: SNK Apologises For "Offensive Ad" Featuring Fatal Fury's Terry Bogard

Dakotastomp

@AaronJ001 Can you not follow body language? He falls off his bike and Mai and the other two(don't know all the characters) proceeded to beat him while he's down but off screen. Again, I'm not defending this ad for its action and how it represents Terry, and I know it's offensive and misogynistic to a lot of women in the gaming community, i just think it's stupid, and probably shouldn't be used as a promotional ad for a game about SNK, but not really something I'd be this up in arms about.

Re: SNK Apologises For "Offensive Ad" Featuring Fatal Fury's Terry Bogard

Dakotastomp

@Sinton I kinda think their thought process was like "hey, all these fanboys are super horny for Mai and our other female fighters. Let's have our poster boy Terry who our fans love and is in Smash slap their asses and then get beat up by those attractive women like this is a man's fantasy." I honestly can't tell you what they were thinking except to entice male players.

Re: SNK Apologises For "Offensive Ad" Featuring Fatal Fury's Terry Bogard

Dakotastomp

@jedisquidward saying that he gets what he deserves at the end doesn't make these actions anymore acceptable or make this ad anymore enjoyable in anyway, but it's not really something I would get that mad over a company about. Mobile game ads are already cringe in its marketing to young male gamers, and this one is no exception to the rule.

Re: SNK Apologises For "Offensive Ad" Featuring Fatal Fury's Terry Bogard

Dakotastomp

@Ryu_Niiyama Ok:
1: We're adults here(or i at least hope most of these commenters are adults)who are aware of something like this as bad and insulting towards women. No need for the lesson, thank you.
2: nobody is promoting that kind of behavior, because even the ad has Terry getting his ass handed to him by him falling off the bike and about to be pumbled to dust by Mai and the gals. We can see and laugh at bad behavior and not promote it.

Re: SNK Apologises For "Offensive Ad" Featuring Fatal Fury's Terry Bogard

Dakotastomp

@Kieroni except the ad wasn't trying to promote sexual harassment, it actually showed him paying for his actions and the girls are going to kick his ass for it. Also i honestly find it hard for there to be more slapstick you can do for a company like SNK, who honestly only has one joke: that their women are buxom and can fight. Shocking.

Re: SNK Apologises For "Offensive Ad" Featuring Fatal Fury's Terry Bogard

Dakotastomp

>Terry slaps their thicc a$$es non-concentionally
>Gets his comeuppance for it in the end and will probably be k.o. anyways
>OMG HE SLAPPED THEIR BOOTIES ANYWAY TO BEGIN WITH THAT'S BAD!
I really hate how everything has become so hypersensitive these days because a small minority of the fans take offense to $exual innuendo or the glorification of $ex.

Re: Video: Watch Ninjala's Special Gameplay Livestream Featuring J-Pop Star Kyary Pamyu Pamyu

Dakotastomp

@tgchan they actually do have some original ideas. Instead of the focus being on covering the entire map with your team's color with different ranged weapons, the focus in Ninjala is to score the most points by getting the most KOs. All weapons are melee weapons and fighting other players requires a lot more quick reflexes and reaction time. It's a lot more than just a Splatoon ripoff. I recommend you at least try it when its released.

Re: It's Official: The Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Is Getting A Sequel

Dakotastomp

@0rwellians0n Yet you said Detective Pikachu was okay and initially everyone thought it was gonna be bad. Seems more like a matter of taste than them making a financially successful mediocre movie.

And before you ask, no I'm not defending a lot of what the movie does(Alvin and the chipmunks style live-action/animation, beat-for-beat titular road trip, Millennial humour) but it could have been much worse had it not have been for Tyson Hesse stepping in to help remodel the design. At least it's not "So bad it's terrible" and instead it's just Mediocre to the point it's just good and servicable thanks to at least having as many nods to the sonic fanverse as possible.

It's not great, but by these numbers, it's not trash.

Re: Random: Sonic Boom Won't Be Returning, According To Television Show's Executive Producer

Dakotastomp

@Shinobi1Kenoby K i admit it was at first weird to sit through, but I highly doubt it was "Teary eyes take our shirts off wtf were they thinking" bad. The game i agree was bad and rushed, that's what soured the hope for this entry, but the show was actually pretty clever whenever it came to referencing the Sonic fan culture.

maybe you were more loyal to sonic being a strictly action-based series, but I think Sonic shouldn't be taken too seriously and can be comedic as much as it is action focused.

Re: Random: Sonic Boom Won't Be Returning, According To Television Show's Executive Producer

Dakotastomp

@Strictlystyles Fair, but I still am asking what Sonic Feels like to most people in order to have a "good" Sonic cartoon. Sonic Mania is a great CLASSIC Sonic short series, but doing this in long-term form would require a lot more care and thought(and money)than I'm sure Sega is willing to give out. Also, what about when sonic first started out? Adventures of Sonic the hedgehog was wacky and comedic and at the time, but the games at the time had little plot to go off of so it did fit. I won't ignore that the series had some problems, but I don't think it was all too terrible, of course I'm not the biggest Sonic fan so it's different for me.

Re: Random: Sonic Boom Won't Be Returning, According To Television Show's Executive Producer

Dakotastomp

@Strictlystyles See that's what i don't get. What does Sonic "Feel" like to most fans. to me, he's a brash, witty and sometimes sarcastic trickster who has a strong sense of Justice and always keeps a cool head. He's not 100% comedy but he's definitely not meant to ever be taken too seriously. I think Sonic the movie and boom sonic capture that pretty well. also, i have high doubts people would give a hoot if it were an original idea and it was inspired by sonic. i think they'd hate it more.

Re: Ninjala Is Getting A Physical Edition Release In Japan

Dakotastomp

ok, I don't get the deal over f2p if the product in question is actually good regardless of the f2p tactic. There's games like Warframe and fortnite which don't make pay 2 win tactics, then there's games like "Kitten squad" and "Angry bunnies".

Ninjala is on par with the former 2.
