Launching later this week on Nintendo Switch is Strawberry Vinegar, a visual novel said to be full of "cute comedy" and plenty of food.
Not many games centre around a plot where a demon from Hell storms into the life of a young girl, steals all of her cookies and then threatens to devour her whole family, but that's exactly what we have here. This quirky adventure released on Steam back in 2016, and while it hasn't received as many user reviews as other titles, those who have reviewed it have left 'very positive' feedback.
Here's an official description and a feature list:
Sakuraba Rie, aged nine, is a cynical and grumpy girl who cares little for her fellow classmates, and does not have a single friend. That is, until a self-proclaimed demon from the deepest, darkest pits of Hell suddenly appears in Rie's kitchen and steals a tray of cookies.
What will happen between these two young girls? Will friendship blossom between them, or perhaps something more?
Features:
- Feast your eyes on succulent mouth-watering art of food.
-Sumptuous 80,000 word count with 6 different endings.
-Experience a unique tale of friendship between a young girl and a demon.
- Updated blinking sprites and UI.
The game arrives on Switch on Friday, 5th June and will be priced at $9.99 / €9.99.

Could be a nice time but have way too many VNs to work through already that are much higher priority so this one will have to stay on the wish list for now. Maybe if it's really cheap at some point.
Whoah!!! Who says the demon identifies as a girl? Did the writer of this game's PR blurb just assume that fictional demon's gender?
I'm glad that they updated the blinking sprites. About blinking time. Blinking hell.
@Lordplops one joke
A nine-year-old and "will it blossom into something more?" ... Yeaaaah... No...
Not gonna lie, this looks awful.
And the first Freudian comments are already coming in.😏
But hey, who am I to talk? Among NL's four screenshots here there's already one I'm drooling at.😆
This looks very heartwarming
"nine-year old"
"rated T for suggestive themes"
Ehhhhh......
@Daniel36 the FBI will be right there
This seems wrong. The age along with the suggestion of more than friendship is not okay.
There is romantic content but it's age appropriate lol
I have played this on pc and it's a wholesome and hilarious comedy, I strongly recommend it
@May_Nyan Glad you brought that up before more people started assuming this was Yuri.
@Dakotastomp I didn't say it isn't
@May_Nyan Damn. Well now I know people are gonna get upset.
Looks (age-appropriate) homo and I love it. Cute as heck.
