@SkullDragr it seems at least they're being honest about Legacy versions being cheaper. I haven't checked a digital price but am seeing around £40 as best price on cartridge. I had points with a retailer to deduct from that so getting it for £32.89 I'm not feeling too bitter out tge price for what it is.
The idea Fifa on Switch scenario should be a base game with the option to buy a season pass to download the next years rostet/kits if you wanted.
This would never happen because they want to make money for a full release each time and shame on me because I have 18+19 already with 20 pre-ordered because I like the portability and able to pass time with even just a quick game inbetween things. I also have no want for The Journey or Volta modes other versions offered so for me, it works (sorry).
On a side note though Konami should be looking at this and working to bring eFootball to the Switch, it's a no brainer.
That is impressive that a 1st party nintendo WiiU port can do better against AAA multiplatform games in some countries. I already have it on Wii U so didn't double dip. The side scrolling mario games are the ones majority of buyers know and enjoy so not surprised realky.
Fifa though I have to admit to buying 18+19 (and pre-ordered 20) on my switch. The single reason is the portability and I can waste time anywhere with it. My son has a PS4 and he doesn't care for the extra modes The Journey or new Volta one so he's on mine most as well.
Out of interest, how many copies has sold on Switch for Fifa 19?
@LuciferOnReddit I'm with you, pre-ordered on eshop but waiting for the patch to drop. Never played it on another platform and want my first play to be on the improved version.
I'd look forward more to a Switch release of The Division 2 which runs on Snowdrop engine. This is proven and runs well with Mario Rabbid's and Starlink (maybe Trials Fusion as well?) running on it.
Fortnite...still SIGH! oh nintendo why did you bring us the curse of the hybrid console, on a home console I turn the game off and go to bed, with Switch I undock it and continue playing until bird song tells me I've 30 minutes to aleep before work, still back to that battle bus! [Epic ID is Princeofyolkfolk for anyone wanting to join me in my curse of insomnia]
I went ahead and hit the pre-order while it was still up, why the hell not, right?
The automated email came through confirming it and as expected there wad an email through today saying
"We are contacting you regarding your order ####### which was placed yesterday on the 5th April for Spyro: Reignited Trilogy.
We regret to inform you that the item is not available for sale. As such we have cancelled your pre-order request."
The next paragraph I wasn't expecting though "As a thank you for being a loyal Nintendo Customer and for the inconvenience caused we would like to offer you a good will gesture of £5 to spend on the Nintendo Official UK Store." £5 to spend for nothing? I won't say no to that 🤗
I got my son the Magic-NS because couldn't afford a Switch Pro Controller but has a couple Wii U Pro Controllers which he's loving using when playing docked. It's a third of the price so a cheap alternative until he save for a Switch Pro Controller.
I went the other way and bought a Magic-S (PS3/PS4 version) so I can play FPS with the Wii U Pro Controller.. . I just can't play with analogue sticks down the bottom after too many hours playing COD BLOPS 2 and Ghosts on Wii U 😁
Fifa 18, what it lacks I wouldn't play on the x86 twins versions so it's all good on the go. Every day there's a local season going on in the break room.... of which I am still king of the left joycon (Just can't get comfortable using the right joycons for it).
COD Blops2 on Wii u with my youngest, Can't beat 1 on tv and 1 on gamepad for multiplayer, I don't like going back to splitscreen on other console versions. Might finally get gold on the last LMG to get diamond camo (long time dream for someone with normally little time)
My fears would be Activision taking a cautious route for CoD on Switch. Like EA on Fifa, producing a halfway version with a small studio for the sake of gauging buyer potential and return. If they go all out and give us a title that utilises the hardware features and strengths, DLC provided et all only for the title still to sell badly it proves the old argument that we buy Nintendo hardware to play Nintendo games, 3rd party titles don't sell enough to return investment or warrant further titles. Large sales of hardware don't mean a large sale of software sadly then reaffirms publisher decisions to reduce resource on a plate.or not support the platform further.
I'm sure I read at the time of release Ghosts was done by Treyarch on Wii U for infinity ward. If they are showing the same love for Nintendo platforms by doing a rumoured Switch version themselves and not outsourcing to a 'conversion house' then I'd bite and buy it.
@Shiryu I still go on the multiplayer and zombies now and again on Black Ops 2, me on tv with pro controller and my son on gamepad is the best way to do local multiplayer.
I tried split screen on modern versions on PS4 but can't get used to it and prefer the top placed analogue sticks of the Wii U pro controller to the bottom placing on the Dualshock 4. If I could ever use the pro controller on ps4 then I'd be happy...
The Switch also isn't getting the demo other platforms are getting. Makes me nervous about paying for an unknown quality without a dam to play. I hope it's because it's easier to create frostbite demos than on the 'custom build Switch engine
@Bunkerneath ABSOLUTELY, everything from Dizzy to Crystal Kingdom Dizzy in replicated Amstrad CPC 8'bit 4 colour glory!! (Side note, guess where the inspiration for my NNID yolkfolk comes from)
Something that might be encouraging is that both the new IP and the Rabbids cross over game run on Ubi's own Snowdrop engine.
The same that The Division got built on so there's some hope if BG&E2 is made with this that a version on the switch, albeit with scaled down visuals maybe, could be made with little man power and cost to make it viable
What I find encouraging is that both this and the Rabbids cross over game run on Ubi's own Snowdrop engine. The same that The Division got built on so there's hope going forward bigger games can be scaled down to the Switch with minimal effort and cost.
I think Nintendo is stealthily lining up the Switch to be a companion to our smart phones. A majority of buyers will own a one which can run countless apps and the users choice of favourite web browser.
The upcoming voice app is for phones, the parental control app is on your phone, if you can't find local WiFi you might even use your phone as a hot spot for the Switch.
Maybe the secrecy of the online features is heavily tied with DeNA involvement and their mobile expertise, or conspiracy theory mode on here, the rumour that it will run android apps?
The biggest revelation for me will be cloud saves with My Account. My biggest fear is having a hard drive fail. Sure, you can download games again but saves would be lost forever.
I checked my bank account today and BOTH charges had gone, the proper and duplicate one. They better not have cocked up again and cancelled my proper pre-order, although the pre-order is still showing on my game account page. GAME are the unfunniest joke in the business!
Time for my conspiracy theory on this and it involves .... Activision!
Does it disturb anyone that Nintendo is making very good money and in-roads in the toys-to-life catagory with amiibo and at E3 we find out they are now bedfellows with Activision letting them use exclusive Nintendo IP's in the form of Skylanders / Amiibo hybrids? Why is this happening? On one side it could be part of Ninteno's new vision of maximising IP coverage by licensing Bowser and Donky Kong and in turn easing Activision back to supporting Nintendo platforms.
With no new COD incoming Devil's Third had a great oppurtunity to quench Wii U owners shooter thirst with no competition from AAA title. Could Devil's Third being delayed (not assuming it's cancelled until there's an official announcement saying so) and Activision having amiibo and the ability to link NNID to Call Of Duty forums mean one thing ... there WILL be a COD coming to WiiU this year, if not BO3 then perhaps a digital remaster package or a late DLC throwback for BO2/Ghosts. Devil's Third might be on a stealth mission to come out at a less conflicting time on the future.
My other thought is there's a scenario / piece of storyline / referece within the game that could possibly outrage people in the US and NoA definately wouldn't want to earn a backlash from any parties.
It's late here, my brains tired and my fingers are typing random thoughts so gnight all
Ideally I'd like a serious Watch Dogs Direct highlighting to Wii U owners why it's great on our console, show a Treehouse Live-esque set-up with Ubisoft's Bucharest team playing through a section of the game and showing functions only the gamepad can give it with a couple of mario easter eggs teased with the same season pass content as other versions.
Or a 3rd party games and eshop reel with Watch Dogs, Skylanders, Just Dance, Disney Infinity, Project Cars, Sonic Boom, Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2, LEGO Batman 3, Devil’s Third (or is thay a 2nd party, like Bayonetta 2?) and the endless qulaity and miriad of indie games coming.
Personal whythehellnotI'dlovetoseeithappen suggestion for a direct is anounce Yakuza HD for the west, Dreamcast and Gamecube games on VC in untouched retro goodness, no HD facepaint, with my favourites Sword of The Bezerk Gut's Rage and Freedom Fighters among them.
